The funniest thing in most BL is when you hear that very first piano note announcing that you are, in fact, supposed to feel sad during the upcoming scene. It triggers me to start laughing nowadays, but Playboyy makes it better cause idgaf about these characters.
I totally enjoy diving into different viewpoints, especially about Babe from our latest show. He's like a jigsaw…
I'm starting to think I'm secretly an "I can fix him" girlie in denial 😩 It's almost always a character not favored by the plot who becomes my favorite!
Glad you enjoyed my toast analogy haha. There's next to nothing worse than soggy toast. Charlie could be such an interesting character but it's either Pooh or the plot or the production team who have made him worse than bland for me. There's nothing interesting about him (or Babe) except the plot mysteries and uncertainties that surround them, which I personally don't count as characterization. Not yet, at least. Only when, say, Babe's history with Tony becomes more informative and directly relative to the plot and Babe as a character... But as of now, it's still shrouded in mystery and frankly, I don't think it has added anything to Babe as a character yet. Yet.
And yeah, it's an objective truth that people have different opinions and viewpoints, which I always respect, but that doesn't mean I can necessarily wrap my head around OR understand them! But that is indeed the brilliance of different experiences all coming together in the whirlpools that are these discussion threads.

It's the contrarian in me that has to pick a somewhat unexpected favorite with shows like these. Then I'll proceed to stan them to the ends of the earth and forgive them for their fictional sins. Let me never forget the OF Ray arc I went through.
But since I can't write poetic verses like you I just gotta say it in my own way—Charlie is like a soggy piece of toast. Not soggy in the buttery way, but in a dumped-in-a-bucket-of-water-and-fished-out kind of way.
You know I mentioned before how I just do not see any chemistry between Babe/Charlie romantic or not, acting-wise. And I thought about it some more, and came to the conclusion that I'm just not rooting for them at all and don't care what happens to them—individually AND together.
It's not just a lack of chemistry for me personally, but also that there's nothing about either Charlie or Babe that make me care about them. Obviously it could happen in EP 3 but I have to wonder if this is then intentional, accidental, and/or if it's too late into a series to make a lack of care viable.

Has this series crossed into So Bad It's Good territory yet, or does it need a few more episodes?
i, for one, would find it hilarious
