Title Hidden Love
Is there any other good series with beautiful relationship between siblings?
Go Ahead---they grew up like siblings but not blood related. It's a beautiful story of what makes a family work.

Story of MingLan: a modern lawyer in her 20s dies in an accident on a work trip and when she wakes up, she is the child that is MingLan. It's a weird combo of the modern girl demise, wakes up and is living in the past. she has no other choice than to live out her life as ming lan. She retains memories of her past life while living/growing up as MingLan. Time period is around the Song Dynasty.

i just finished reading the story of MingLan...it navigates female's society standing/status in a very conservative time where it favors men more. the drama adaption is pretty good and also follows closely to the novel with some minor changes.

Exactly! I am overall fascinated by Chinese novels because they go to extremes with their female characters, but…
all adaptions so far...changes the FL's vibe/fierceness, gives villains' more screen time, villain's fluff story that no one care for, villain's end is medicore vs the deeds they committed. even with modern dramas, adaptions are still lacking.

The novel version of Legend of An Le's Di ZiYuan is the strongest and pretty bad ass character I had read about so far. Her will to revenge and seek justice in the novel made her character admirable. It's a pity the drama made her meek and love sick...and they kill the theme of the novel as well.

can i ask if this is a slow burn, or does the relationship between the main leads develop quickly?
SUUUUUUUUUUPER SLOW BURN.

For sure! Not really to fond of her or her children
the children do not even look like the parents...that's poor casting.

Cheng Lisu is such a tiny teeny minor character! he appear a lil bit in the beginning and at the end of the novel. LSH is more of a funny sidekick.

maybe to keep it as mysterious as possible? either way, it's torture!
On Legend of the Female General Jul 10, 2024
epilogue from the novel:
which I hope it included in the drama...but mostly not.

Xiao Jue and He Yan have a daughter name Xiao Yao (sounds like the word carefree). Xiao Jue is more of a loving parent vs He Yan. Xiao Jue is more of the caretaker for their daughter, thus a very doting father. Since He Yan was brought up as a boy, she is sort of lost at how to be a mother/female role to her daughter. He Yan likes to tease/rough play with Xiao Yao, which Xiao Jue frowns at at times. It's sort of funny how the novel described their interactions.

Xiao Jue is very considerate towards He Yan since he knows of her previous life as He Yan that she didn't get a proper/carefree childhood and upbringing for a girl. So whatever Xiao Yao gets (e.g. a lantern, a brocade, snacks, sweets etc), Xiao Jue always make sure He Yan gets one too. This is Xiao Jue's way of making up for the lost childhood that He Yan was robbed of. He Yan is aware of it and tells Xiao Jue it's ok and that she's not bothered by it. Even so, Xiao Jue still continues to always provide the same type of snacks or gifts that a girl would get/come across growing up.

in the novel, the he family was exposed and everyone knows what the he family did. that is more important to her than being acknowledge as the second chance he yan.

i'm sad they gonna exclude the bff. Lin Xuang He (i think that's the bff's name)

Ohh and by the way!!!I saw some people got disappointed and dropped the novel because they had the wrong expectations…
FL's second chance is about getting back what she earned, even if it meant starting from scratch. Revenge is part of her goal but it did not consume her or the whole novel plot. Besides getting back what is hers, she also wants to see her previously family get what they deserved. It may not be death, but more like justice. Justice is her revenge.

besides restrictions, they add a lot of fluff to side characters or give too much screentime to annoying villains. like the legend of An Le. the novel was an amazing read but the drama was a major flop. even strong popular actors can't save it's demise. legend of an le wasted so much screen time on a small villain role. even though they don't have much censorship issues, it was still poorly adapted.
