Is the drama rated 8.9 because it's just that good or because most dramas have been rather dull lately?and:
it seems to be pretty dark, but is it more similar to Blossom or to The glory? I'm not sure how i feel about enemies to lovers still being enemies past half of the drama -at least one of them (she's all in and he isn't right?). I already don't expect a happy end but i don't think i'm able to handle too much angst right now. The Glory was good but i wish there had been no romance tag (cries)
I find the first few episodes painfully boring... I'd like to skip to the good part but don't want to miss anything either. ML is absolutely gorgeous tho. And it's not every day we see broke ass immortal sects
i want to start it so badly but the withdrawal i felt between each of the blossoming love episodes turned me into a rabid dog. I'm a pro binge watcher, there isn't one bone of patience in my body when it comes to c dramas.
Overall enjoyable and very bingeable but *too* much. They managed to put all the most cliche historical drama plots in 32 episodes which is seriously impressive. I love how many parts were realistic but Mudan has to be the unluckiest lucky person...
I loved the dark undertones, beautiful cinematography, colors and floral backgrounds, the friendships and the perfect chemistry between the leads, but I really think some small plots and small villains could have been erased entirely, especially knowing there will be a second season. Sometimes less is more.
Please someone give Yang Zi new wigs, she doesn't deserve this.
How important the second couple romance is compared to the leads? I'm not sure I have the emotional capacity to invest in two simultaneous soul crushing love stories at the moment
I might be in the minority here but the NYX/MXL-Fate/Pearl relationship was the most interesting part of the drama. Mind you, I absolutely loved the first 30 episodes and every little thing about it, but the ambiguity between them both is fascinating.
The drama is a love triangle but also not really. It's more about the codependency of two people who were meant to spend an eternity together and the third party that ruined the status quo. Why would Fate willingly let Pearl go when she was his only companion? Doomed together for eternal boredom and all that. MXL hates NYX but Pearl loved Fate for thousands of years. I'd be hella confused with my feelings and emotions too if I were her. They weren't meant to be because let's be honest, they were basically siblings and ZM came strolling with his weird wig and stunningly good looks.
