She's immature so it's to be expected that she can't quite communicate with Saet Byul, and it's normal for girls her age to be rebellious and self-entitled. I guess we're all just upset on behalf of Saet Byul who had to grow up overnight and take up the responsibility of a parent when their dad died. I'm hoping she grows up by the end and sees how much Saet Byul had gone through to raise her to be a better person.

I'm not into modern C-dramas so I'll pass on Parallel Love, I might try the Legend of Jin Yan one of these days, I want to get through some shows on my list first. Have you seen Oh, My Emperor? I see you're quite a fan of Xiao Zhan and he's in that show with Zhao Lu Si, which I loved in The Romance of Tiger and Rose. I want something close to The Romance of Tiger and Rose, I really enjoyed that show despite that one scene that was unnecessary and so out of character.

I don't like episodic American shows either, they either go on forever and trail off from its initial premise, or get the ax midway and end abruptly, or get too convoluted/messy near the end. I do watch them sometimes but I don't follow them closely. I'm actually still trying to get used to C-dramas being 40-50 episodes long, I prefer K-dramas with 16 episodes, less commitment and I wouldn't be too upset if it ends up being less than satisfactory.
Well, I did warn you lol. How did you feel about the ending to Wen Si Yuan and Shen Man Qing's arc?
Oh boy, where do I begin? They spent so much time on unnecessary, filler flashbacks and Zhu Yan's not-so-glorious death, but couldn't even spare a minute to show before and after Wen Si Yuan got stabbed by the daggers! He got a measly 15s "wait for me" and another 15s picking up his wife at the grave, he didn't even get a single fight scene near the end, what kind of injustice is this? What the F* were they thinking? Who thought it was a good idea to stuff as much flashbacks as they can? Also, incurable poison my ass! And that stab wound? Any other normal character would have died on the spot, but not Qing Ci, he could walk out of the palace just fine even after coughing blood and fainting spells a couple episodes back, apparently love is THAT strong. And that ingrate king! Did he seriously try to stop Qing Ci from leaving after everything they have done to keep him alive and on that throne?! F* him! F* his kingdom! Blah! I'm still pissed.
What the- What kind of ending was that?! Downgrade from 8.5 to 8.0 because of that ending alone. I've expected the ending but watching it in person makes me really upset. I agree with some online comments that this is not Love in Between but Missing in Between.

Both Saet Byul and the boss have boundaries issue, but I think Saet Byul did it worst by being touchy feely with Dae Hyun when it's clear he was uncomfortable about it. She only barely redeemed herself by stepping out of the picture when Yeon Joo requested it of her.
I ONLY love Saet Byul and Dae Hyun's mom in this, maybe a little bit of Geum Bi too because of how fiercely protective…
I'm a fan of Yoo Jung so I'm only watching for her, although I wouldn't hesitate to drop a show if I don't like it. I'd hate it if Dae Hyun falls for Saet Byul immediately after breaking up with Yeon Joo, it'd make him seem like a fickle man who can't stay single.
As for Yeon Joo's mom, I interpreted it the same as you, that Yeon Joo wasn't seriously considering to marry Dae Hyun, hence the 2 years relationship without formal introduction to each other's parents. But I still think she wouldn't have accepted Dae Hyun anyway, possibly because of a personal experience on her part.

You have a taste for dark shows, I generally avoid them because I don't have the stomach for it. I can't even remember the last Western TV shows that I've watched, well I lied, I remember it was "Never Have I Ever", a little juvenile but cute show.

Yeon Joo is a smart and confident lady, I don't think her boss can make her do anything she doesn't want to, it's not like she's dependent of the job either, she has enough qualifications to pursue her career elsewhere. I think she's been leading him on, which gave him the impression that if he push hard enough she'd cave.
Ugh, I am in a slump after this. Can't watch anything else.
I'm in a semi-slump for a different drama, recently finished a Korean rom-com that's very flawed but with endearing characters, so now I'm painfully dragging my feet to finish this, I mostly ended up going back and re-watching some of the rom-com's scenes. I think I'm addicted to sweet and saccharine plot after ATWIL.

I believe Eun Byul was sincere when she told Saet Byul that she felt grateful and apologetic for everything her sister had done for her, and that she'd return the favor by giving Saet Byul a better life. Eun Byul is obviously immature but she's not heartless, she probably thought she'd make it big as an idol and able to take care of Saet Byul in return.
Dae Hyun, on the other hand, needs a reality check asap. He still doesn't see his relationship with Yeon Joo is pretty much at its end.
I was expecting her to pretend like nothing was wrong and then she broke down like a kid in front of Dae Hyun's mom and that was it, I sobbed with her. There's something about Saet Byul's vulnerability in front of Dae Hyun's mom that just kills me.
I ONLY love Saet Byul and Dae Hyun's mom in this, maybe a little bit of Geum Bi too because of how fiercely protective…
I'm not feeling their chemistry because their relationship feels too platonic and Dae Hyun is still attached to someone else, which doesn't bother me because I'm fine if they don't date and continue this boss-worker dynamics. I only hope Saet Byul get adopted by Dae Hyun's mom so she can have all the love she deserves.
Yeon Joo's mom was obviously bluffing, I don't believe she'd have respected Dae Hyun even if Yeon Joo was willing to introduce him.
Yeah that whole thing didn't sit well with me either but I accept that leaving him ultimately leaves open the…
It felt too extreme of a choice for me, as most of Qing Ci's plans, it's like there's no middle ground for him. Emperor Ai had converted to a monk and had no attachment to worldly affairs, he was as good as dead, even if Wei Ning Hou/other ministers get to him I doubt they'd be able to threaten him into submission, and who's to say he wouldn't be a better king than Emperor Xiao Ming? I understand the gravity of having him alive and threatening the peace Qing Ci and the others were trying to keep, I felt like a fake death would have sufficed because now all those deaths to keep him alive in the first place were for nothing.
i absolutely love DH's mother and SB's scenes together. i think DH's mother loves her because she sees herself…
I ONLY love Saet Byul and Dae Hyun's mom in this, maybe a little bit of Geum Bi too because of how fiercely protective she is of Saet Byul, she's more of a sister to Saet Byul than Eun Byul. It's easy to relate to both women's struggle in life, family and society. I honestly cried with them when Saet Byul broke down in Dae Hyun's mom's arms, it's heartbreaking to see her seeking a parent's comfort in the only figure who's willing to give it, everyone else (her relatives) wouldn't even think twice about kicking her to the curb.
Dae Hyun and Yeon Joo's relationship makes me feel so uncomfortable. They have such a terrible relationship dynamic.…
It's the law of opposite attracts, I'm sure they had a sweet beginning but reality sinks in and neither is willing to confront it, so they're stuck in this limbo of a relationship and couldn't move forward. Honestly, I can feel they care very much for each other, it's just that their love has probably gone stale without them realizing.
It just boggles my mind that Qing Ci went through all that trouble to keep Su Xuan alive for Yun Luo's sake but could easily ask Emperor Ai to sacrifice his life for a greater cause, which he really didn't have to because Qing Ci has a better chance to assume his identity and he's well hidden all these years. Emperor Ai survived ten years only to die in vain, what a waste.
