There's so many things you miss when watching a long complex Cdrama. I just had to pause for a moment during a rewatch of episode 12. Sang Sang waiting patiently at home next to the pot of chicken soup. Later that night NingQue writes his famous chicken soup note to Sang Sang. Yan Se, the Divine Talisman Master and Ning Que's teacher loved that note. Much later, Yan Se picks that same soup pot as an urn for his ashes.
So much attention to detail in this Cdrama. I've seen it several times and notice new stuff every time.

Can you post a link when you are done? Thank you so much for your efforts. Been waiting so long for english subs. Didn't think anyone would take it on, but you did!
You as viewers can ALL blame yourselves for the ending of Fox Volant. You were the ones who rooted for The Untamed.Let…
That's one way to interpret the Untamed ending. But, the ending of the drama is purposely left vague (blame the censors). It could go either way. The actual book ending is very clear that Wei Wuxian and Lan Zhan are very much together. And if you recall, the last scene of the drama has LZ calling WWX name and he turns to look at him (off screen) with the most joyous smile on his face. They are shown playing music together by the waterfalls, too. They are all smiles in every scene at the end. It's a very happy ending, if you fill in the blanks.
Is Zhang Buxun the same Lieutenant Zhang as Zhang Rishan, who appears in Tomb of the Sea? If so, how did he revive? Even if not, why was Zhang Buxun's body missing? It was implied that Third Uncle took the body as we see a body in a sack being loaded into his vehicle. Ning is watching from a hill. Why steal a corpse?
How did they all escape the mountain? Was it Third Uncle that saved them? Then what happened after that? Then, inexplicably, Wuxie woke up in a forbidden snow field? Zhang Qiling was already 3 months wandering the nearby village when Wuxie showed up. Both he and Wang Pangzi got notices to come save Wuxie. Months have passed and Wuxie has no idea how he got in that place, but doesn't dwell on it at all. And yet everyone knows where to come and find him.
So many loose ends... Like the part early on where Pangzi sells his house so that Wuxie can bid on something (I thought it was a second snake brow copper fish), but he winds up buying a vase instead. Then later, what happened to the vase? Ning shows up and kidnaps them from their hotel and we never hear about that vase again.

After thinking about it for a few minutes, I realize that I was the one that submitted to change the MDL entry for both seasons to include both names! Sorry for the confusion!

Yes. Zhang Xiao Fan had an agreement with the Ghost King that he had 10 years to find a way to revive Bi Yao. If not, then he was to return to the Ghost Sect and become the deputy leader. So ZXF wandered the world for 10 years and ultimately failed. He then returned and joined the sect, as agreed.
While he was away, the Ghost King, Wan Ren Wang, gave him a new name and started many rumors about how dangerous and powerful Gui Li was. This was to prepare the way for ZXF to take his place as the deputy Ghost Leader, and to facilitate their search for the books so that they can awaken Bi Yao (but really they wanted to awaken their demon leader). ZXF returned and the Ghost King told him that his new name was Gui Li.
ZXF accepted the new name, clothes and the whole bit because 1) he made a promise, 2) he was indifferent to just about everything at this point, and 3) his old life in his original sect was over and there was no going back - he really couldn't be ZXF any more.
Gusy who have read the original novel can say what is the end of the story?
The drama only covers the main leads early years. It ends at an actual event in the book, but that event is not even close to the end of the book series (8 volumes!).
I would like to ask or inquire how much of this live action tv show follows or adapts the novel, were there any…
I only read the ending of the book(s). The drama follows the first part of the books, but I'm not sure how closely. If you consider that it is not a complete story, then I guess it doesn't follow that closely.
Beautiful movie! A masterpiece, really! But, I'm not sure I can watch it again. My heart just got jerked out and stomped on. My face is so swollen from crying. Don't let that stop you from watching though. This movie will touch your heart and soul.
