Ok I just finished this and I'm kinda... confused? mainly about ep 37 haha. The cute scene with chengling and…
In the closing scenes we see that Cheng Ling is already grown and has a child (children?) and disciples of his own. The little boy they are teaching is a new disciple that they are fighting over (not really - just their usual joking around).
Not a blockbuster, but it was going great, and I was really enjoying it. Then it ends right in the middle of the story. They are getting ready to embark on a great mission, and then it announces to stay tuned for scenes from part 2. What part 2? Three years later and I can't find any info about it. I'm so bummed!

I had to go watch the movie to see what it was all about. Very complicated situation. Too complex for a short movie format. Although, it was depressing enough at times that I was glad they didn't dwell too much. But even spending a little time having her think out loud or telling a friend what was going on (for the audiences benefit) would have made it better.
I agree that marrying her brother was a bit creepy. Even so, they didn't once represent their relationship in a sexual way. It was always about the bond they shared. Pure love and commitment to each other. It's the kind of love that you see in couples that are married 60-70 years, both family and partners. That made it easier for me to accept the "until death do us part" for them.
Han Tai (Xu Kai) never really had a chance. But, I think he also cared about her beyond the physical attraction. He stuck around even after she was really sick, and even joined hands with Jun Xi (who he was also close friends with for a long time) to make her last days happy. I think that is why they showed them both proposing at the same time, and then you see Han Tai walking her down the aisle to Jun Xi.
The movie was flawed, and I have mixed feelings about it. Still glad that you got me to watch it, though. It gave me a lot to think about, and I think I will still be thinking about it for a while. For now, I'm just trying to figure out how many stars to give it. I'm still not sure!
P.S. There is one correction. Her brother was age 3 when he knocked the nameplates off both the girl's cribs. He was 15, and she was only 12 yrs old, when it was discovered that she was with the wrong family. They meet again when they were 27 (him) and 24 (her) years old.

That's interesting. I didn't know that. At any rate, I only watch the C-dramas and movies (not other Asian films, usually). So, I was just commenting on the relationships in the Chinese films. Brother/sister is used often in cases that Western viewers would find it strange, if not inappropriate. But, in C-dramas it doesn't mean that the individuals are biologically related. It can take some time to figure out exactly how they are related, too. It confuses a lot of people!
Is this another Asian romance where it is "technically not incest" but is still about brother and sister getting…
I haven't seen this film, so don't know their actual relationship. However, close friends and people raised together, cousins (even distant ones), people from the same sect or school, etc... all can be considered when the synopsis says "brother and sister". They may not even be related biologically at all. From the synopsis, it seems that is the case here, since it was a baby switch at birth.
A Fox Spirit Story is currently available on iQIYI with english subs (auto subs). The high def (1080P) video is nice, but the auto subs are awkward at times. Liao Jin Feng (Adonis) looks very young and handsome in the iQIYI version. He really does look like a young Adonis! The YouTube version is very blurry, but might have better subs.

This is a short, low budget production. At first I thought this was going to be a complete waste of time. But, the story got better and resolved itself well at the end. Eric Suen, Lorene Jen and Lowell Lo did a good job with what they had to work with. The performance from the younger actors was so-so.
It's available on Viki with subtitles in 10 languages.
I was pleasantly surprised and entertained! I'm glad I didn't pay money to see it in the theater. But, after reading the reviews, it turned out much better than I expected.
It did have some funny errors that should have been caught in editing, such as Jiang Yang (Lu Han) running in front of "friendly" machine gun fire. The CGI was good when it mattered during the fight scenes, but some of the early still shots of aircraft and equipment looked like plastic models were used. I guess the director thought if he flashed by the scene fast enough, no one would notice. lol
All in all, I'm glad I watched it. Got to see Godfrey Gao (RIP) again, and Lu Han, of course. So, it wasn't a waste of my time. :)

I've seen it listed for free in a couple of other obscure places, but failed to keep the link.
