You are welcome! I sent you some other titles that might fit what you are looking for. Maybe some will surprise you. I hope you find something you really like though.

Yes, the ML starts off very weak. The storyline fits your examples very well. In fact, I had a little smile over it. The ML in Noble Aspirations never really masters the sword and winds up using something that looks like a fire stick. It was formerly an evil tool that he (of course) uses for good. Only he can use it, but it can potentially harm him, etc... Sound familiar?
At any rate, if you enjoyed Doulou Continent and Fights Break Sphere, you should enjoy this drama too.
Why are they changing all the stars names? I know they all have English names and nicknames, etc... Is there a preference on MDL or is it just the whim of the day if someone wants to change the primary name on MDL?
I legit have no idea why they added the character He Cong Rong (Mark) into this show, his character was useless…
I agree. It doesn't seem that he has a purpose. I still have 8 episodes to go, but I peaked at some recaps. It seems that his father placed him there to try to get some insight into the group (a spy?), but the group president, Zhao Xian Kun, thinks that he is doing a favor for Mark's father. Mark is young, and needs guidance. He's supposed to be training there to keep him out of trouble. He doesn't seem to be a very good spy and he isn't doing anything useful to learn or keep out of trouble, though. Maybe they cut most of his important scenes out of the final production, for whatever reason. He really isn't critical to the story.
Any better subs anyone?I have watched 5 eps of this on iQiyi but i found the subtitles are somewhat bad and inconsistent…
I'm watching on iQIYI too. Their subs can be so frustrating sometimes. But at least it is better than auto translations. They can be so literal, especially with names. Someone named Ma, will show up as the horse did this, the horse said that, then horse... Ugh!
I'm on episode 5 too, by the way. Hopefully it gets better. They introduced so many characters at once that it will take a while to sort it all out in my head. I'll probably look for a character wiki or many an episode review in a little bit to try to get a better grip on it. I love Mark Chao and the premise of the show so far seems interesting, so I want to try to stick with it.
I have a question for those that can read Mandarin. I'm still only on episode 5. She drew a doodle of a girl (herself?) in her notebook early on and she keeps going back to look at it. What are the words next to the picture saying?
Question for everyone: what is your favorite platform..IQIYI or Viki?
I like them both. I like Viki's rating system, actor and show descriptions and (usually) better translations. Sometimes iQIYI has really bad translations, but they've gotten better. With a VIP membership I get 1080p streaming, so the video and audio is often much better on iQIYI than Viki. If a show is available on both platforms, I will usually test out which one has the best delivery and go with that. Both platforms have quite a bit of original content, so it doesn't happen all the time that they have the same shows that I want to watch.
Dropping this after two episodes. The cold perfect tsundere who's spent 20 years waiting for a girl he met on…
No issue with the opinion or the decision to drop the show. Everyone has different tastes. However, some of the factual details are wrong.
The two main leads were childhood friends. They didn't just meet once, they met every day at the playground because they were not in the same class. Due to tragic family circumstances the FL had to move, but she thought she would be back in time for the next school year. She promised to come back and he promised to wait for her. They parted in tears. Of course, she didn't come back, but they never forgot one another. That's the foundation for the story that unfolds when they meet each other again as adults.
As for the height difference, for me, it made the story seem more real. I thought they made a cute couple. Once they got together as a couple, they were very affectionate and natural with each other. Acts of love and lots of kisses in every episode. They didn't waiver in their affection. Good looks was just an added bonus - not the foundation for their relationship.
If you are looking for a sweet sugary, but steadfast love story, make time to watch this!
I didn't want to watch this at first. It sounded boring. But, I loved it! It kept me emotionally invested until the very end. The ending was wrapped up nicely, yet I really want to see a second season to see the next chapter in the story.
This was perfect! Entire cast of new actors, but so well done. Cute and uncomplicated love story with over 11 minutes of kissing in the 4 hour drama. Great chemistry between the main leads, too! If your week is going sour, this will definitely cheer you up. It's heavy on the sugar.
is this actually worth watching? im kinda hesitant about it:/
I loved it! Seen it several times. But, you have to like xianxia. The main lead is complicated. He's mostly stoic, except with his friends and family, and hiding a huge secret. Very misunderstood by those around him. He is mirrored by the second FL who is also quite stoic and complicated. The first FL is very straightforward, and her character is well liked. Also, this is only part one of an extremely long book. It mostly covers the ML's early life and ends on a cliffhanger. Part two is also a cliffhanger and they haven't filmed part three. They may never film part three, and it will surely be recast if they do. So, there's that to consider. Still, I love it. One of my go-to stories when I'm too busy or not in the mode to start a new series.
HI ! does anybody know if is neccesary to watch the first season first and then this one ? or the stories are…
This is part 2 of a book adaptation, so the stories are linked. I think it is better if you watch the first series before you watch this one. There are a few cast changes in season 2 and the story is a bit darker as it progresses farther into the source material. Otherwise, it's a smooth transition between season 1 and season 2.
At any rate, if you enjoyed Doulou Continent and Fights Break Sphere, you should enjoy this drama too.

WeTV is good too. ;)
