I just wish that the ML is not that young.. I think I prefer zhao liying to partner with more mature guy.. but…
They look a bit like older sister - younger brother. If they have a sibling-like friendship in the drama, I would watch it, but it's most likely going to be romance.
I heard it was initially 72 episodes but they cut it down to 59
I agree with you. The script writers should plan out the stories better. Cutting down more than 10 episodes sounds like there will be too much content lost.
Yes you're absolutely right. For the first half of 2020 the 99% of the historical dramas are silly fluffy rom-com…
I've heard these kinds of dramas aren't considered "real" historical dramas.
They are web dramas released only on the internet, usually with short episode counts or video lengths. Many web dramas are known for having cheap production quality and shallow plots. (There are exceptions, of course!) Not sure if this is a good comparison but I think it's similar to small-budget indie movies versus professionally made Hollywood movies that are released world-wide.
It's not that the industry decided to target young teens. It's that there are simply more web dramas nowadays. In the future, just avoid web dramas with low-quality posters if you want to watch good productions, lol.
Honestly the trailer looks badass . I can see the improvement in the fighting scenes of dilraba , compared to…
I don't read the comic but I can see why some fans aren't happy with the casting choices. Objectively speaking, the male actor has a more youthful and "boyish" vibe than the comic character. However, this drama hasn't even been released yet. Perhaps the performance of the actors will convince the sceptics they're the right choice for the roles they play!
I forced myself to complete watching this drama due to Li Hong Yi role as Qiu Yue. Only his role and another actor…
I think the misunderstanding (FL thinks the other guy is her true love and ML is her brother) makes the story and the interactions between FL and ML more entertaining to watch. Without it, the storyline would be completely different and maybe not as popular among the fans. But to each their own!
Also, I understand disliking stupid characters and being annoyed by them but not everyone on earth is smart, so I personally don't mind having clueless FLs sometimes.
From world A (the one with the hair down). He asked the two policemen which station they were from and was still pretty calm. Then one of the man shot his gun, making the passengers panic, and suddenly he also panicked and ran away.
This didn't make sense to me because he knows he didn't kill the drug dealer, so doesn't running away make him even more suspect to the police?
I have a question about the story; trying to word this without giving away a spoiler:
At the end of Episode 03 when he was on the train, why did he suddenly run away when two men wanted to apprehend him? I re-watched the scene and still don't understand what he was thinking.
Not a perfect drama but I really like how the script treats the female side characters and how they interact with the female lead. There's sisterhood and friendships instead of the same old petty love rivals who only exist to make the female lead's life hard and pine after the male lead. There's one love rival but I can live with that. Moreover, they actually have their own aspirations and their lives don't revolve around a man.
If anyone knows more historical/fantasy dramas with such female characters, feel free to recommend them to me!
At the extended scene (OTP reunited after losing their memories of each other) when FL celebrated ML's 28th bday,…
I agree with your comment.
Everything about this show is great but the large age gap in the extra scene is too weird.
I don't think they were in a relationship yet, but it seemed LZW already liked HYX since he looked so happy when she brought the cake, which means he must have started to like her when she was a teenager. I'm closer to LZW's age and falling for a teenager is just unthinkable.
I understand LZW looks young for his age and his personality is a bit childish, but it still feels wrong.
It is the same old stew like we got fed in about a felt 1000 drama series over the bygone two or three years and…
You must be good with languages! I watch Chinese and Korean dramas and only picked up small phrases and some words of both. Definitely not enough to follow the story unsubbed.
Also I'm curious about what you said that "pale-faced guys look more and more European". Which actors are you referring to? I guess, I just don't see it. I can only think of one minor actor in Ashes of Love who looks decidedly European-ish. The rest of them all look Chinese to me with various skintones and such.
Yeah, all these actors are looking more and more like sculptures from the time they start their acting career.…
Yeah, it's true American actors also get plastic surgery. People around the world do it just to fit some restrictive ideas of beauty.
I'd also like to see more diverse, more average depictions in Chinese media. Of course, I'm okay with double-eyelid, fair-skinned Chinese if they have those traits naturally, but it looks strange if it's obviously plastic.
Btw, they usually have straight or flat noses, not a Roman nose 'cause Roman means hooked, lol.

The novel sounds good, but I don't think the drama will adapt the heavier and darker stuff.

Can I ask if you're a native Chinese speaker or did you learn it and watch it subs?
