I am on eps 3 and honestly, the most spoiled brat so far is Bae Ro Na. Never seen an more annoying character.
It's a pity she's written that way. Because compared to everyone else, her actions aren't that bad (she's not a bully, con artist or cheater like the other characters) but her annoying emotional teenager behaviour makes viewers have a special kind of hate for her.
On my opinion i dont think rona has done something that bad to warrant the hate on here . I am not saying she…
Agreed. I'm halfway through the drama and don't get the hate comments I've seen about Bae Rona.
Maybe she'll become worse later on but for now she's just a bratty and impulsive teenager. Yes, it's frustrating and annoying to watch. But in a world where adults are cruel to children, cheat on their partners and do a lot of dubious things, I find it hard to hate a girl who throws temper tantrums in front of her mother, a behaviour that is typical for many young people.
I cannot believe how much hate this is already getting by Chinese netizens. They legit are saying, without shame,…
She has already done many historical costume dramas, though. Any idea why some people are suddenly complaining? Also, I thought she was popular in China. Hopefully it's just a minority of loud netizens whose opinions don't matter in the bigger picture.
In my country we say, "When it is for me it is an Anus and when it is the others it is an asshole" (Excuse the…
I think this happens a lot in Asian media-related communities because Asian TV shows, especially Korean, attract an audience from all around the world. K-dramas have fans from the Americas, Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa and more. People from many different countries come together and their native language isn't always English. This can lead to miscommunication and perhaps cultural differences when it comes to understanding criticism.
And also, generally speaking, fans of all kinds of media (not just Asian media) have always been overprotective of their favourite shows, movies, actors etc. and they can't stand seeing negative comments about them.
Is this drama in the same world with Extraordinary you?
No, they are two separate stories and worlds. I think the guest appearance by Dan-oh and Baek-kyung from Extraordinary You is just a comedy thing (because the two dramas share the same PD as another person said) and not meant to be taken seriously.
Am I crazy or did the English subs on iQiyi for this drama change in 2020? I remember watching a few episodes last year on iQiyi, but the subs were kind of bad so I dropped it. Now I'm picking it up again and the translations sound much better.
Interesting that you said Joy of Life is wuxia......I don't think you understand wuxia or Jianghu. I know a lot…
Huh, so Xianxia is really considered a historical genre in China? I always thought of it as pure fantasy like Lord of the Rings or Game of Thrones because of all the magic, immortal beings and demons, but with Chinese influences instead of medieval ones.
@bibi-bibi—I share your joys and frustrations here. At this point, I'm watching for the ML's profile and his…
I wonder why they keep making these kinds of dramas. From what little I know, Chinese watchers, the primary audience of these shows, are also critical of badly written or cliched female characters. Yet scriptwriters keep creating them.
Korean beauty standards are pretty effed up tbh, pretty much the philosophy of every kdrama is “you have to…
Just finished the 1st episode and, to be honest, I don't think the story has much to do with Korean beauty standards. If it really was about Korean beauty, the female lead's ugly look would include features like tanned skin and hooded eyes. Instead, the only things that change about her are "generic ugly" traits like acne and unkempt eyebrows which are considered unattractive anywhere.
Well, the ugly traits that the heroine has don't have much to do with Korean beauty standards. Acne, bushy brows and unfitting glasses are seen as unattractive pretty much everywhere.
There are still some incorrect translations on Viki, but maybe they will be corrected later.
I hope so. Even in the very 1st episode, some subs are based on Youtube's bad subs and not accurately translated. That's not to say I don't appreciate the effort. Viki's subs are actually understandable and don't sound machine translated.
Honestly, I'm glad that they made Shimei female because literally ANYTHING can get past chinese censorship if…
Regarding the video clip you posted, if it's played off as a joke, there's no reason why it wouldn't pass censorship. It's a comedic resuscitation scene, not a romantic or heartwarming scene, which is why I don't think it's a good example of wiggling through the censorship rules.
The Untamed really is the best current example we have of a good chemistry and deep camaraderie/love between two male characters, but hopefully Immortality will be able to portray the same thing.
Asking for spoilers: Is there romance ? What about love triangle? How many couples are there and who are they?
The first couple, Tim Yu and Rachel Wang, stay together at the end. The second couple doesn't but if there's a continuation of this drama, I can imagine them being together again.
I'd hesitate to call this a real love triangle. It's just a female side character who has a crush on one of the male leads. And unlike in other dramas' love triangles, she doesn't sabotage his relationship or act mean. She's pretty amazing actually.

Yes, there's romance and a very brief "love triangle", but the plot doesn't revolve around them.
Two couples with the main actors listed on this page: Tim Yu and Rachel Wang, Wang Yanyang with Miranda Ma.
It's an open ending with a twist and a hopeful note. All main leads get to live. However, if you prefer endings with all secrets cleared up and where everybody marries and gets kids, I wouldn't recommend this drama. I really liked it but I know many viewers prefer definite conclusions and would perhaps feel frustrated by this kind of ending.
honestly, I'm even more amazed that someone could finish this drama WITHOUT SUBTITLESand if they finished it,…
Why though? You're fluent in Chinese according to your profile and surely there are other Chinese speakers here who don't need subtitles to understand what's said in a drama.
