if you said the reason this drama got the rating because of fandom before 2010 when he was a very big name, i might agree with you, but honestly right now LJG fandom not a big one , they are loyal yes, but you give them too much credit.

Many factors actually. they supposed to continue filming in 2020 but covid happened, they must postponed it for three years. When they finally can continue, several casts already have other projects. Also the news about harsh working conditions during season 1 filming, staffs were forced to work excessive hours, faced injuries while on set, it might become another factor as well (since as far as I know almost all staffs for AC2 are new staffs many didn't continue including director).
season2 will be dark , and full of war.
