The good things about episode one - It's genuinely funny at times. The whole family presents akward really well. And I like the dynamic between leads.
On the other hand, I found the revelation almost insulting. Vast majority of people shouldn't be surprised at that point, it wasn't funny and it brought no additional information that would be worth the lost opportunity. It served only as a basic exposition.
And talking about that, they explain way too much in the later half, too clumsily. I get that the rules need to be stated somehow, but like this? It was confusing, sticking out and just flat out boring. World-building at its finest, not.
Going back to boring, there are dull patches throughout the whole episode that could have been just cut or made more dramatic, to be at least somewhat entertaining. Especially the start and ending of episode. I really love this kind of stories, but had trouble paying attention here.
Overall, it's not horrible. Better than some other shows, since this one at least have an interesting premise. The execution isn't great, but I don't expect masterpieces from thai BLs. I feel like 7.5 is generous enough for now. But there's nothing preventing it to go higher if the storytelling becomes more natural๐
Me, the whole time thinking I know this ML from somewhere else... Are you really trying to tell me it isn't the same guy as in MGaYG?! For real?! That's a doppelgรคnger right there! Or a MDL conspirary hill I'd be willing to die on.
Very OTT, but it works for J-BLs better than "subdued and sweet" in my opinion. The manga aspects (FXs, narrations, bellies...) could be turned down a bit at times, but overall it does a good job balancing the serious and ridiculous parts. It might take some time getting used to, but it's certainly one of the strongest japanese productions for me lately.
Personally, I feel like those are the only two ways I enjoy japanese BLs. Either it's OTT (Mr. Unlucky, Zettai BL, Boku mo Aitsu mo Shinrodesu...), or serious (Life: Love on the line, Utsukushii Kare, More Than Words...). Combination of both is fine, as long as each part is strong enough and the transitions work. But when they try to do something more ordinary, it just bores me (Kimi no Koto , Minato, Senpai...).
Yeah, I don't mind sad or dramatic endings! But it gets a bit lame when they throw all the pain (and often internal…
My understanding is, they show the youngest SJW, all grown up (so in the alternative 2022), as he goes to start the loop again.
If you think of it as parallel timelines, we've started with timeline 1 (the OG 2022). When the original SJW went back in time, he "crossed" into the timeline 2. So there was no SJW at that point in timeline 1, but there were two of them in timeline 2 (the old and the young one). At the end of the show, the old SJW comes back to timeline 1, while the young one stays in timeline 2. The young one grows up, still in timeline 2. Then, in year 2022 of timeline 2, the "young" one is already 25 year old. And (after the show), he presumably starts the loop all over again, which would take him to timeline 3. So the SJW portrayed at the very end isn't the same one we saw at the start of the show, but the new one, already grown up. In his own timeline (2), it's year 2022. And he's gonna go back to year 2007. The original SJW doesn't go back anymore.
Yeah, I don't mind sad or dramatic endings! But it gets a bit lame when they throw all the pain (and often internal…
That's how I understood it, mostly. KJH had very little contact with the young SJW, so there isn't much reason to think he would feel significantly less guilty than the older SJW felt during those 15 years. Since we don't know what exactly KJH said to the young SJW while dying, nor we saw the young SJW growing up, we can't really tell if he's any less affected by it imo.
The idea is, if the loop keeps on repeating itself, they should be able to find a way to make it easier for the younger version eventually.
Yeah, I don't mind sad or dramatic endings! But it gets a bit lame when they throw all the pain (and often internal…
"...why exactly would I feel so sad to pick up your phone again to travel back in time."
I think that's why they shown us Kang Ji Hoon teeling something to the last (young) version Shin Jae Woo. And when that version grows up and goes to the dormitory (at the end), we hear Kang Ji Hoon's voice saying: "Jae Woo. Remember to come back to me." I don't know how much regret the newest version has left in him, but if you see someone dying in front of you (at such a young age, to boot), I bet his last words stick with you. We know that the middle version (the one we saw the most) might have gotten over his regret, but the youngest one... who knows? KJH didn't have that much interaction with SJW3 from what we've seen... The one who gets the letter, who spends more time with KJH, who gets their regret soothed is (always?) the older version, not the new (younger) one.
That said, who knows how things will change between KJH and the younger version in each loop. They might get to the point when they want to stop.
At first I was thinking : "Wow! It's only the middle of episode 2 and they're already getting together?! Love that for them, but what are we going to do for the rest of drama?"
Then the "1 month trial" challenge hit, and yeah. I'd rather have the standard jealous (ex)girl(friend) and/or homophobic parents appear.
I enjoyed the first two episodes so far, but it might take a nosedive from here. Also, the subtitles are so clumsy, it wouldn't be hard to get offended by their choice of words...
Yeah, I don't mind sad or dramatic endings! But it gets a bit lame when they throw all the pain (and often internal…
The power of love?
He probably knew that the older version of ML warned the current version of ML (25 yo) when he was 10, and the current version of ML similarly warned the younger version now. Which implies there's already been at least one loop before. And if he doesn't change anything, there's little chance for the looping to stop on its own I guess? Not the chance I would take myself, but hey! Tin was ready to do the same in the last episode.
I had made up my mind: the end had to be dramatic. On that side, I was not disappointed. On the other hand, too…
Yeah, I don't mind sad or dramatic endings! But it gets a bit lame when they throw all the pain (and often internal logic) away in order to give us this last glimpse of hope. [Redacted] did something similar. Or He's Coming To Me, while Kissable Lips is one of the very few that managed to push through ๐
As for the killer situation... could it be handled better? More logically? Yes. But I feel like it was also quite realistic. Not only they had to wrap their heads around the whole time travel stuff, they were running out of time and didn't know how acting up might change things. So from Kang Ji Hoon's perspective, while he must have been under a great deal of stress, he chose the option for which he knew how it all ends. And he apparently expected for the loop to start again, so he might have even considered it the safest option. This way, he's at least certain that both versions of Shin Jae Woo live on ๐
"There are so many things I want to do with you." is what he said.
And they hold hands ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Not suspicious at all! Just your local cryptic lady.
Boy knows exactly what he's doing ๐
AND WHAT HE'S GETTING!!! ๐ฎ
Everything? Don't be shy, name it all โบ๏ธ
If he's gonna run away, I'll break my phone in half. And each of them halves in another halves, and those into more halves... You know how that ends.
So, if the young dies, will the older die, too? Or will he get stuck in this "past"? Maybe he'll be sucked into the "future"? [I feel like this is the ending I'd like more. The kid dies, the 25yo gets stuck in the past , and they live together HEA! Maybe a bit regretful, but they'll get over it. Might even visit ML's mother and try to make that work somehow ๐]
Darn, they really went there. And he really dropped the bag, which could have at least serve as some defensive weapon!
[Episode 8]
One day later:
Why are you are crying?! I should be the one crying here ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
That's a 3, not an 8. Distance 5.
Nope. You can't take him back now. I won't accept that.
Fuck 2022.
He does not look 15 years older ๐
No! This is the last one! There won't be another time loop!! ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ [Triage PTSD unlocked ๐]
I don't know how to feel about that ending overall. Right now, more nay that yay. [Read above for my ending idea.]
No one gets shirtless anymore, all of my ships were torn apart, the logical aspects of this are getting more and more laughable... the only reason I'm still watching is the cartoon villain!!! Which, who could that be?!! Can you tell me? I have no freaking idea who would possibly commit such an elaborate crime! Mindblowing, indeed ๐คฏ
The one thing to look forward to - comeback of Rain surviving 3+ months exclusively on hay and wine is bound to be funny! (Yes, I might be expecting too much logic from them ๐)

I guess we can safely asssume the remaining stories will have similarly "happy" endings.
