I wish Netflix wouldn't try to "westernize" the shows. Personally, I started watching K-dramas because they were more clean, wholesome, and left something to the imagination. And, when, exactly, did smoking come back into favor? Yuck!
this is old but if you remember, can I ask who the last couple you mentioned was?
Chinese dramas aren't usually my go to - too long, too dubbed. That being said, I looked at my list and realized I've watched quite a few C-dramas! If you want to know my favorites, I'd have to say Hidden Love, Dating in the Kitchen, and My Little Happiness. I loved the relationship in You Are My Glory - but I practically wore out my FF button skipping over the gaming and space flight stuff. I really liked the first half of Love Me If You Dare, but it went downhill when they added the American actors. Others that I have enjoyed: Emperor or Boss; Love Can't Be Said; Better a Lie Than a Truth; Destined to Meet You; Mysterious Love; Reset. I'm currently watching Exclusive Fairytale and am, strangely, really liking it. Typical high school stuff but the two have known each other forever. I'm only halfway through it, so it may take a nosedive, who knows?
Thank you. I know these reviews are just personal opinion and can (and should) be taken with a grain of salt, but I certainly always appreciate the reviews of others, helping me determine whether I want to waste my time or not!
Yeap... I guess many of us had the same thoughts some weeks ago. So here's where I stand on this one: she liked…
I think one reason I had a problem with the two men, the 2ML rejected her, and then almost immediately changed his mind. He started showing his interest, and she was uncomfortable with it - it just showed me that she liked the "thought" of him, and not actually him. That also made me feel like she was just so desperate to have someone, which to me at least, lessens any "love" that comes along. She was just tired of being alone and the constant dumping on her that life was doing. I know I'm not explaining it well, but with the way she was written, I'm not feeling romance in this one, just desperation. Maybe the next few episodes will change my mind. Thanks for sharing your great thoughts!
Great review. I'm in the middle of watching this. I think this would have been more effective if they'd moved the back story to one of the earlier episodes. I'm spending all my time waiting for them to move forward and decide if their feelings are real or not. TOTALLY agreed with you on the supports and the coworkers. I'm fast forwarding through the coworker stuff because they are terrible!
I just wanted to say, I'm 9 episodes in, and I'm very frustrated with the writing. I feel like I want to rate each episode to keep track of my thoughts. I'm not liking the FL character at all. Her "liking" two guys (and why did she start to like ML anyway? It seems like it was just because he paid her some attention. She was just pitiful.) The drunkenness in this show is working my last nerve. What I HAVE been enjoying is the interactions between the ML and 2ML. ML continuing to be involved with the not nice girlfriend and not speaking up when a marriage date was decided for him - in my mind totally negates his supposed feelings for the FL. I'm enjoying Rowoon's performance, but it is, currently a little one-note. He feels like he's reading lines, but his heart isn't involved. Sorry for this rant, but it's been a while since I've been disappointed like this. Is it too much to ask for a healthy relationship between the main couple, and that it doesn't wait until the last two episodes to happen?
Thanks for the spoiler! One thing I don't like in Korean dramas is the 2FL that is always a little unhinged and willing to do whatever it takes to get the guy, even if he was never interested in her at all. On the other hand, the USUALLY portray the 2ML as a great guy that wants the girl's happiness, which I appreciate. I don't care for the women that are "stalkers".
It just means I have no life! But seriously, I started watching K-dramas in about 2018. I love K-dramas for their lack of sex, language, etc. The Korean culture fascinates me. However, I do have to say that I'm becoming frustrated with the writers and the lack of editing. I'm finding myself fast forwarding through a lot of stuff because the writing tends to be so repetitive, kind of like they get paid more just for having more episodes or something! I'm with you, I'm enjoying the 2ML. He was in Crazy Love, and I'll be honest, I don't remember him in that. He was also in Missing: The Other Side, which was excellent. I hope to watch some more episodes of Destined with You tonight. I've heard a lot of people complain about the "cheating". Can you spoil it for me? Does he go back to dating that girl he was engaged to?
Great review. I just finished episode 4 last night. I'm loving Rowoon's character, Bo Ah's not so much - I'm not liking how desperate she is. I know we need the love potion for the storyline, but it feels wrong to me. I've seen her in a few other things and have enjoyed her very much. You are right, she has very expressive eyes.
