I remember watching this in the middle of the night and crying silently, lest my parents hear me and turn off…
Same! I only watched this drama at night after everyone went to sleep so I could cry in peace lolol. You just know every episode will make you ugly sob.
As much as Lee Dong Wook and Yoo In Na have been killing their roles as GR and Sunny (in a good way), I've gotta say Kim Min Jae and Kim So Hyun did a brilliant job portraying the young king and queen and were my preferred portrayal from that scene.

@Aryael I actually loved The Heirs, ridiculous as it was, but couldn't get into DOTS for the life of me. This decision from Eun Tak was a little bewildering but I'm not exactly put off her writing for Goblin haha.
@zukuu good point! I also think she might've gotten a little too confident from knowing Shin would be there with a quick summon, but she was clearly afraid of her own demise so it was a little wild lolol.
@dearD4NI I don't think anyone but grim reapers can see what's written on the cards anyway. Although I can't remember whether or not Shin told her she's specifically die from falling, when the ghost's husband starts getting hostile, Eun Tak does make a comment like, "Ah, falling from a high place..." so I feel like she does know? Not sure though.
Not many things have bugged me so far about Goblin (biased or not lol) but a particular scene in ep. 11 made no sense: Eun Tak confronting her ghost friend's husband. I understand why she wanted to help, but how did alarms not go off when he led her up the freaking fire escape omg?? Especially when she already knew she'd face death through falling?? I don't think anyone's that stupid tbh so it felt really out of character. Necessary for the plot I guess, but it could've been written smarter imo.
I'm watching episode 10 and I don't understand how Eun Tak's mother's ghost friend died. Could…
The ghost was Eun Tak's mother's best friend while they were both alive (as seen in the picture of them together). As a person, she explained that she died in a car accident on the day of her high school graduation. As a ghost, she moved on after passing on Eun Tak's mother's insurance money to Eun Tak, because I believe one of the main reasons she remained in the world of the living was to protect Eun Tak. I hope that explained your question!

And...do you want a congrats? A pat on the back? Not sure how your reply relates to anything I said other than an attempt (intended or not) to rile me up. Be happy you're not the 900 year old Goblin looking for his bride then. You don't need to fall in love with her ;)

Everyone has their own tastes, so I won't try to persuade you against your current opinion (because I don't think I could anyway), but I'll explain my view of Eun Tak x Shin. Firstly, this entire show is grounded in supernatural happenings...fantasies. It's not supposed to be a believable story. Secondly, I believe Eun Tak's bubbliness and "childishness" is EXACTLY why he falls for her. Imagine living 900+ years wanting to die, and then comes this blast of sunshine that forces him awake. The poem he recites in episode 4 says it all: Eun Tak is this mass much bigger than her size that comes out of nowhere and is drawing him into her with a force stronger than gravity. In a sense, the "immaturity" so many people dislike about Eun Tak is the very thing that makes Shin want to live again. Not to mention Eun Tak isn't immature. Far from it. But that's another rant from me. Anyway, I get if the age gap isn't some people's thing. Fine, you don't like the main couple? Focus on GR and Sunny. But I really believe the bond Eun Tak and Shin build together is very explainable, justifiable, and reasonable.
I personally thought the kiss was adorable asdhdfjh it really matched the situation and feel of their relationship: cute and innocent. I'm glad they didn't have them full on kiss tbh. That'll be better once Eun Tak grows a bit more. Glad to be able to finish my 2016 with Goblin!
I'm really curious about the theory behind Deok Hwa being a deity. I couldn't see it happening before, but after the scene in ep. 9 when he says he has his ways for finding people, and it transitions into the butterfly deity at the ski resort...makes you wonder! I also saw a post on Tumblr mentioning how Deok Hwa created the passcode to get into the house, and he chose 1004, which also means angel in Korean, so he might at least be some kind of higher order? There was another point about how he just happened to find the book Eun Tak left her maple leaf in and bought it. Maybe it was written that way just for the sake of those two characters meeting, but that wouldn't completely justify why Deok Hwa was there and how he found that exact book. Anyway, very interested to see where this goes!

That was one of my thoughts as well! The way it transitioned from her narrating about a dream she had to her finding Itsuki outside her apartments made me think it was possibly imagined.
I remember reading a few chapters of the manga for this a while back and decided to check it out. A pleasant watch overall, but his reason for leaving her for an entire year without an explanation was ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as taking in a stray man off the street and asking him to live with you I guess.

Cliched or not, I think the writing is progressing smoothly. Yes, it follows the typical hetero-narrative usually found in dramas, but in this situation it makes sense with how they've set up the story so far. They've beat it over our head since episode 4? (the one where Shin reads the first love poem about Eun Tak) that Eun Tak is his first love. If the Queen had been Shin's lover, it would have ruined the significance of ET and Shin's relationship imo. I'm actually pretty excited to see how Shin reacts to finding out he's been rooming with the dude that betrayed him 900 years ago LOL.
Am I the only one who's glad they didn't make the Queen Shin's lover? That love-line would've been so unnecessary and not to mention it wouldn't have made sense! Anyway, episode 8 destroyed me and we don't even get previews for next week ;~;
She'll be 20 in 2 months, but then there's the 900+ year age gap. Good thing it's a man that's…
Have you been reading the comments? People are already spontaneously combusting and wrongly accusing this show of promoting pedophilia, so gender is a bit irrelevant this time.
I was worried about it being too cheesy, but I'm pleasantly surprised so far. Maybe it's just because I like a lot of the main cast, but I'm excited for episode 2!!
@zukuu good point! I also think she might've gotten a little too confident from knowing Shin would be there with a quick summon, but she was clearly afraid of her own demise so it was a little wild lolol.
