Title Tale of the Nine-Tailed Spoiler
Exactly my thoughts. The rules of their fantasy land is inconsistent and arbitrary so it makes no bloody sense.…
I wish they would have explained that. It's more than once that this drama uses the implication style storytelling for viewers to just accept that XYZ happened and to go along with the plot (eg. when Ji Ah gave the bead to the fortune teller in exchange for Yeon . It wasn't explained then whether or not Ji Ah knew about the importance of the fox bead.) I was a fan at the start, but it feels like my feelings just got exploited for ratings or whatever.

Right??? There is absolutely no reciprocity with how other characters are dealt with compared to Yeon. I get that he's a mountain god and all but they made his character too perfect, that it feels cheap when secondary characters are used as a tool and so are disposed, or don't get their just desserts, only for HIS good because he is created to be the hero that is perfect in all aspects, that should be protected.

Same! I'm so annoyed that I have to vent here. Rang's death felt so gratuitous - what was the purpose of him dying for? The fox bead item was also underutilised. It might as well not have existed. Also why is it that for Yeon, he gets everything, but for others, they have to jump over hurdles. If Granny could call favours about Yeon, then why couldn't she also have done that for her son? It just doesn't make sense.

Rang sacrificing himself for Yeon was sad but expected. Part of me was waiting for them to find a way to undo…
Exactly my thoughts. The rules of their fantasy land is inconsistent and arbitrary so it makes no bloody sense. There is no explanation whatsoever and we're just told to accept it. As for point 2, I still don't know what happened. I feel like they could have added at least 15-20 minutes more. This series should've been a 20 episode series had they really built their story well and shaped the rules of fantasy land tightly. Very disappointed.

I'm soo confused, can anyone explain the ending please
Beats me. I'm also confused. So he's still a gumiho or what? If he is, then what's the big spiel about being human?

Exactly. And that scene where the flower petals were falling as he was marrying Ji Ah, which Granny interpreted to be the mountains saying goodbye to him as their master. It just does NOT make sense. How the hell is this an unexpected ending - the Soompi article promos seemed to promise more than it delivered!!

Title Tale of the Nine-Tailed Spoiler
i would much rather have the main couple not be together in the end than having to watch the Rang die after everything…
Same. So disappointed. There's a reason why sacrificial arcs are so moving. It's because the sacrifice of one character, particularly of a flawed character for his own redemption, has a great benefit that usually is able to solve the issues/events/situations for the good of everybody, not just a select few. Every "sacrifice" for the good in TOTNT lacks in effect because the benefit of the sacrifice is very minimal and undoes the point of the actual sacrifice. In short, it renders the sacrifice pointless because there is no benefit, or where there is that benefit, it is a benefit only for the select few and not the good of everybody.

Exactly. What was that ending even about? I feel cheated. And Rang's death was a basic wtf. It's like they just ignored him. Also 6 months without Yeon is quite a short time lmao. They should've extended it to at least year.

Bo Ah needs to do an action film. I'd love to see her in that. I think she plays the hero well, it's just that her character is not really well-written imo.

Title Tale of the Nine-Tailed Spoiler
I didn't understand the whole point of the 'act' that Yeon and Rang did. The one where they exchanged faces and…
A few reasons. When a fox promises words and shakes hands, that ultimately creates a contract that can only be fulfilled by the fulfilment of the contract, or by the death of that fox in question by not fulfilling the contract. Here, before we even get to the reconciliation of the brothers, Rang, although bound by his contract to the Cherry Tree Guy (forgot his name), didn't really want to be released from the contract. He had hated his brother for a very long time due to miscommunication issues, so it really is only after their reconciliation that he wanted to back out from the contract because it was getting too serious.

It's like this, you agree initially to the terms that you think are ok, then the more you perform that contract, you realise that it's actually much worse than you think. That's pretty much it. Plus, the CEO needed to have been in a position of desperation so that when he utters the words of offer to overwrite the contract, that he actually means it, so that the contract is enlivened. Hope that helped!

I think Jo Boah would definitely suit an action drama or film! I find that her character when she's possessed by the Imoogi to be quite compelling. That badarsery suits her well.
