I don't even know where to start. Ep 15 and 16 were hard to watch. ALL the characters except for ML is annoying. Especially the sister and that annoying little brat called Su Heng. He thinks he's a detective??? Like why would you hide such an important clue???They make me want to pull out my hair😩

I am a little bit disappointed because this show started out so good. Lol but now it seems they are just throwing stuff at the kitchen sink to see what sticks.

It feels like they are introducing new characters and plot devices out of nowhere and it's making the show feel crowded and unwatchable. Though, I've heard from others that these were characters that were also in the novel. But i guess the drama didn't do a good job of introducing them and waited until last minute. Now it feels cringey and forced.

Lol I'm still going to watch till the end cause I've put too much energy into this and I want to see how it all ends. And I love seeing JT sexy face and mesmerizing smile on my screen 😂

Oh wow the characters in the novel sounds so much more interesting and nuanced than how they are presented in the show.

I think the show made the mistake of focusing too much on the romantic side in the beginning and forget about all the other characters. Now they are rushing to fit in all the other characters but it doesn't feel right and the show is becoming crowded 😩

Every once in a while I come on this thread to read comments and enjoy the comments of new people discovering the show.
But why the hell are people now on here arguing when this show premied months (last year Aug) ago?

When this show was showing, this thread was known as one of the most peaceful and mature thread on MDL. We were all just enjoying the show and having fun. Nobody was arguing with anyone.

Can this thread please go back to being calm and peaceful. This is such a comforting show, it does not need any negativity 😔

I feel like when we think about it, it does go a little bit with her character. If we remember, she has given up mentally and since the beginning she has been saying she doesn't want to live anymore because she feels responsible for her husband's actions.

Even when officer Zhou has been trying to talk her out of her thinking, she hasn't really being listening. Us viewers have been hoping she would just divorce, leave and be with officer Zhou. But she was mentally not able to. She was guilt ridden.

So it makes a little sense that she would give up just like that without a fight. It's sad, but makes sense for her character.

Wait, what do you mean "comeback drama?" Were people saying she can't act? I've never seen her in anything before, so I have nothing to judge by.

Since this is my first time watching her, I'm not going to go as far as to say her acting isn't good, it's just sometimes her "childish facial expressions" is overused and uncalled for in some scenes. It's really only noticeable when all four main leads (her, the sister, JT, and the other Ml) are in a scene together. It's when you realize she's young and need more acting training.

Other than that, I'm enjoying her so far

I was really really excited for this show cause I haven't found a good show to watch since this year started. And guess what yall??? I am really enjoying this show. For what it is, it's wonderfully made.

I'm actually suprised at how much I'm enjoying this show, since JT is paired with yet another trainee actor. But she's doing fine so far. Her character is not annoying (yet) lol. I kinda like her so far.

Now to the story: it's a good story and the mystery is interesting. I really like how the story is told within the dream sequence. I love how all the characters have their own stories that blends perfectly with the leads story.

One thing that the show does well from other shows is that though they give equal time to the supporting characters (sister) story, it's so interesting that it doesn't take away from the leads story. I find myself looking forward to her story and how she will resolve her dilemma. All the characters are quite interesting. I didn't think i was going to like officer zhou when he was first introduced, but he has such an amazing screen presence that I end up liking his character.

We are already at the halfway mark of the show, so I'm excited to see how all this play out. Will LS be able to change their fate in this life? Or will their past repeat itself?? I can't wait to find out!!!

I get mad for like the first few days the drama starts airing, then I go right back to liking him. It's a vicious cycle 😂

Lol I was with you until you lied about The story of Minglan. It's okay to say that show wasn't your cup of tea and you didn't like it. But to blatantly lie and say this show is better than "The Story of Ming Lan"??? Now who in their right mind will believe that?? You are being dishonest for no reason. It's okay not to like as show, but don't lie like that again.

There has been such a lull for me in C-drama land since the year began. I haven't found anything exciting to watch sine "A Journey to love" ended😭😭

I've dropped so many dramas lately (very rare for me. I tend to stick things out till the end even when bad) that I'm starting to wonder if there will ever be another good C-drama.

BUT, I AM REALLY REALLY EXCITED about a new Jeremy Tsui drama. I miss his sexy smile on my screen. Lol. Here's to hoping this drama will help revive my love of c-dramas!!! I'm going to go watch now!!!

Omg I'm glad someone else is thinking this!! This has been my thoughts since I started watching Jeremy Tsui shows. I really love him as an actor. He has such an amazing on-screen presence that gets wasted every time cause they keep pairing him with younger actress that can't match him well. This is why "The Journey of Chong Zi" was such a disappointment to a lot of people.

I really want to see him paired with another veteran actor that can match his caliber. Nothing wrong with these younger actress, but none of them have been able to match him so far.

Veteran actors like Liu Shishi, Yang Mi, Jing Tian, etc. If they want "younger" actress, Seven Tan, Yang Zi, Esther Yu, Bai Lu. hell, even the newer Zhou Ye will be able to better match him (we've seen how well she can act in Scent of Time) compared to all of these other actress they keep pairing him with.

My dream casting is for him to pair with Yang Mi in a Historical drama or a modern drama!!!!

I don't know if you've seen it, but she was the main lead in "Love Me Love my Voice" lol it's a load of sweetness and fluffy.

She also has an upcoming drama "Legend of the Female General" which I'm really excited for!!

Yes/ no. For the first half, about (30 or so episodes.) she and the SML were in love. Though her and the ML knew eachother since they were kids but there was nothing focused on love.

This drama is a slice of life. We go through the characters life from beginning to end. We experience all their joys and sorrows, their failures and success. This is Ming Lan's story, and it's absolutely fascinating to watch her life.

One MAJOR thing you will love about this drama is that though you will want our ML and FL to get together, that's not going to be your focus, because you will TOTALLY enjoy all the other characters story. And how they intertwine with the leads. One thing you will appreciate is that when the leads finally get together, it was the right time in their lives. And no other time would have been perfect.

Lol once you start watching, you will realize what I mean. Happy watching!!!

I think (imo) most of the hate the actress is getting is leftover hate from her previous show "The Journey of Chong Zi" Though I really didn't mind her character on that show, the story was so bad that people take it out on the character.

Imo people are not impressed with her emotional scenes. It was particularly noticeable in "The Journey of Chong Zi " because she was paired with Jeremy Tsui, a veteran actor who's very good with emotional scenes. So her childish and childlike acting was turning a lot of people off.

I do think she improved A LOT in this show. I do think the actress need a lot of work in improving her craft. She's young and has a long way to go. She just needs much practice. I enojoyed her in this show.
