Just caught up to ep 6 and I gotta say I'm really enjoying this show so far. The storytelling is good so far and while the pacing might seem slow sometimes, it's because they have a lot of things to introduce us to. The characters are still settling into their roles. I do like all the characters so far. So props to writers and director!

Our FL is such a BAD AZZ! Omg I really love her character. She DOES NOT HESITATE to kill or fight. Lol I was so shocked when she killed that guard on the spot. The first person on her list (you will know once you watch it). I really love that unlike other dramas, this drama don't just tell us the FL is smart or brave, etc... but we see it in action. Her character is written really well so far.

There's a lot of intriguing threads that have been introduced so far and I'm excited to see how it will turn out. Especially the sub plot with the third prince and the empress in the state of An. Lol that relationship is quite interesting... Also, from my understanding, that prince and our FL have some type of past, right?

I didn't think it would be so FUNNY. It's making me really laugh out loud, especially with the interactions between the ML and FL in ep 5&6. Such a determined FL. Let's hope she gets what she wants😂

It's not just you. I feel it too. I think it's because sometimes they spend too much time on one scene, instead of moving on so it feels draggy.

I think it's because they are trying to set up a bunch of things for us upfront, so it feels like the plot isn't moving. I felt the same way with the first 10 eps of Story of Kunning Palace. But then it got better and better! and now that I've finished it, I go back and watch those first 10 eps and realized they are not as draggy as I thought. Lol

So I hope this is the same way. I'm enjoying it so far!

Lol I was thinking the same thing. But it was funny though, so I'm not complaining too much.

I do like that they balance out the heavy stuff with the comedy. Hope though that the comedy doesn't overwhelm the show

Also, "Scent Of Time" has a 8.3 rating on here, but it's a really good show and a lot of us enjoyed it.

Ratings on MDL are not always trustworthy cause sometimes haters down vote a show if they don't like the actors in it, or other petty reasons. That happened to Wonderland of Love in the beginning. it was bombarded with hate reviewing. Thankfully it didn't stick.

So always make sure to watch a show for yourself and don't always go by ratings on here. I have found some really good shows that are just rated 6.9 on here, but I liked and enjoyed them.

I think you should watch on Kisskh. That's where I'm watching and the translations are good

I mean it just dropped TODAY (6 eps only) and only one person have reviewed it. So you can't really go by that rating. Judging it by that standard is not fair to you or the show

Watch it for yourself and decide.

We've come to the end of yet another EPIC show. It's been an amazing journey and one I'm glad to have experienced in real time. The ending was just so beautifully done!! Xu Kai really did an EXCELLENT job in his role! I hope he goes on to have more amazing scripts!!

Lol I know I was mad at my girl Cui Lin in ep 34 but I couldn't stay mad for long cause that's my girl no matter what. Lol she redeemed herself. I was laughing so hard when she told Li Ni that her plan is, once she gets pregnant, she's going to kill him and make their son emperor so that she can become dowager empress. 😂😂 Like why would you say that to your husband right after yall slept together the first time??? Li Ni looked so scared for his life😂

I want to point out, we didn't talk much about the costume in this show, but omg was the costumes AMAZING. The vibrant colors blended well with their skins. The bright colors Cu Lin wears are always so beautiful. The Zhenxi Army uniform looks so good on Li Ni. The costumes for all the characters were done well!

From the actors to the writers to the directors, everyone did such an amazing job and it's been a pleasure watching these characters on screen each week!

The Legend of Zhuohua that showed back in August had a really good HE too! It wasn't rushed, we got a well planned ending.

Lol I think c-drama directors and writers might be turning over a new leaf😭

I wish these people stop bringing Zhao Lusi into their fan wars and creating unnecessary drama for her. This girl minds her business and does her job well. They need to leave her alone.

I really love Lusi and will always watch anything she's in. But based on her past roles, I don't think the FL role in this show would have been good for her. Yes she did WRTW (one of my favorite shows) but this character here is different and requires a certain spunk (from an older actresses) like Jing Tian, that Lusi doesn't have yet. With age and time, and more acting, she will have that. As for Dilreba, same with her.

I don't think any of these ladies would have pulled off Cui Lin as perfectly as Jing Tian did.

When I said I wasn't attached I don't mean I didn't like the first life. It's just like you said, their story together hadn't even really started and BOOM they are dead and second life is starting. I couldn't make peace with this.

Lol I know the romance of this show is not the main focus. It is a character driven show and the romance is added bonus. So if someone was focusing purely on romance, it might now work for them.

But it's okay if you don't enjoy it!! Don't feel bad

Lol I too am surprised that a lot of people hated the first life cause they thought it was too "slow" for me I really love the first life.

I think the reason why I can't seem to be able to continue after the first life is because I didn't really get attached to the characters yet, and then BOOM, they are all dead and the heavens is turned upside down. And then we are in the second life where she is powerless and useless. I just couldn't make peace with that. The build up wasn't down properly (for me). I was just starting to get used to the characters and their roles. I wasn't given enough time to feel for them.

Other shows like TMOPB, Immortal Samsara, Song of thr Moon, to name a few, took their time to make us care for the characters in their first life so we sympathize with them in their second or third life.

I don't think this show did...

We all (me in particular) love the FL and defends her at every point.

But as you keep watching, you will realize why her actions are always selfish and never take accountability in the right way when it matters.

Lol don't want to spoil it for you since it seems you are just starting it. Don't get us wrong, the FL is amazing, but you will see what we mean.

We've finally come to the end of this amazing show. What an EPIC journey it was! The writers and director really outdid themselves and gave us wonderful characters. It's been a pleasure watching them on screen!

This show has really made me like ZLH as an actor and see him in a different light. I hope he goes on to get more amazing roles that showcase his talent!

One thing I really love and appreciate about this show is the immense growth and understanding characters go through throughout the show. EVERY character (not just the ML &FL) in their own way went through some type of growth. Even XW guards, from how they were in the beginning to how they are in the end is totally different. I love that attention and respect was paid to EVERY character and not just the leads. This is why the show is so amazing.

Lol I can't believe that XW trips his son just cause he's jealous his son likes ZZ. Evil till the end😂😂

Now that this is over, and WOL is also over, what are we all planning to watch next?? Any recommendations?

It makes sense that you don't like how JXN broke up with ZZ cause it's not how it happened in the book, but I just want to point out that it makes sense for the show for several reasons, but fan service WAS NOT one of them. because XW and JXN didn't even start talking about their feelings until ep 32, mind you this is a 38 episode show. If they really wanted to cater to fans, they would have gotten them together way earlier.

One of the reasons the brrakup happened like that and wasn't explored more like the book, I'm guessing is because of the latest censorship laws. Every new show now have to have only 40eps and if more, it must be a season 2 and season 2 has to come out a year later. I don't think the production company was trying to do all that. A lot had to be changed to follow censorship and condense this story. The important arcs were kept, others had to be shorten, and unfortunately, this breakup is one of them.

And also, quite frankly, though you might not like how it happened, it's reality. Not every breakup in kife ends with "perfect communication" sometimes people leave/ brrakup just because...

While I understand the author's reasoning, the way she wrote FL character (towards the end) is not good.

She should have found a middle ground from not wanting her character to suffer to "babying" her and making her selfish and never held accountable for her actions...
