wow, thanks for the comment here! 👍 will pass this one then and go search for something else to watch as I…
I just perused you r watchlist... you've seen so much of the shit I'd recc. But here's a few you haven't seen yet that I thought were at least better than a 7
Undercover Affair - Short c-drama, kinda fiery and badboy-hotness
Playing House - Freakin funny and kinda hot short-length c-drama
My Fated Boy - sweet and spicy, and falls in the "fluff" category. I'm pretty sure the kiss in the last episode is a french kiss.
Drunk To Love You - If you like getting choked up and crying with your romance, surprisingly poignant for a short-length... but also good spice levels & good HE.
Falling Into You - Another sweet and spicy fluff-genre romance.
Time To Fall In Love - kinda dumb, but there are some hilarious moments, and some hottt moments. Too few and far between, but it wasn't a bad one-time watch.
I am curious: Who likes it when women talk in the whiny, baby voice?
It's chinese coquettishness. So much like flirting in any culture, some are good at it and some are cringe. I hate whiny baby voice when most c-actresses do it, but a few are good at it and it doesn't bother me as much, like for instance Rosy in Hidden Love was awesome.
The dynamic between the mains here is completely terrible. I can't believe this is the same story as ISWAK, ISWAK is so much better than this. FL just throws herself shamelessly at ML, and ML treats her like total shit. As soon as she thinks about ditching her crush on him, he does something nominal to keep her on the hook, and she crushes on him again, and he goes back to treating her like shit.
I'm all for toxic romances, but this isn't even romance. The chemistry between the leads is lacking, and I blame that mostly on the ML. Because Joe Cheng played the same role, and managed to at least convey a sense that he was little by little becoming attracted to the FL, whereas Kim Hyung Joon's performance was just icy af. He turned the character from a prickly shy boy, into a covert narcissist.
In this version, FL should have gone for the 2ML. And speaking of 2ML, the FL treats his feelings so dismissively throughout the whole thing, it's really disgusting to watch. Ironic that she's such a bitch to him, and chasing after someone who's such a bitch to her.
I am on the 2nd ep and I don’t understand anything.
We can help you out if you can get mores specific about what exactly you don't understand, we can break it down for you in more simple terms. I was so friggin lost on ep 1&2 when I first watched it, and I came here and got stuff ELI5'd and it helped a lot.
I don't really like harem dramas. Would it still be worth a watch?
? Tough to say. Hard to tell if you will like this from your watchlist.
There's 3ML's, this is their dynamic:
1ML is slowly and steadily building an attraction toward her through the whole thing.
FL has a huge, yet very naive and idealized crush on 2ML, while 2ML is oblivious to it and isn't that into her. By the time he starts wondering if maybe he doesn't like her back, it's too little too late, and she has developed deep feelings for 1ML so she shuts 2ML down quick and brutal.
3ML is her childhood bestie, and he makes no secret about wanting her and liking her and she tells him very consistently through the whole show that she doesn't see him as any more than a friend, and she never once wavers on that.
Some viewers have a problem with the show because they start shipping hard for the 2ML. Part of it has to do with the fact that the actor who plays the 2ML in this has had many roles as a 1ML, and some viewers have like a pre-existing crush on him and are frustrated to see him not get the girl this time. There's also viewers who prefer 2ML's brand of love, because he is gentle and sweet, whereas the 1ML is red-flag badboy.
Is it a harem drama? idk, depends on how you view it.It didn't feel like one to me when I was watching it, but others have mentioned that it bothers them.
"My fellow brothers and sisters. Good morning. I want to start off today by saying that all haters should fall off the face of the earth. They should shut their fat sinner mouths, and go straight to hell to burn in a fiery pit for eternity. My Demon is the best show on the face of the planet. Kim You Jung and Song Kang are literal angels from heaven, and their chemistry is hot enough to engulf the sun and obliterate all life on earth and only haters will disagree with those clearly indisputable true facts.
People who don't like My Demon are haters. Haters hate all life as we know it because they are full of hate, their bodies are not built with normal human cells, but with little microscopic hate cells. They have hate-juice flowing through their veins instead of blood. Haters are sub-human trashcan denziens, and they are all jobless losers that live on dumpster scraps and negative comments. Hate is a vile, repulsive, abominable, heinous, offensive and hateful thing, and I for one will have no part of it. I am full of only love.
In the name of the father, the son, and the Holy Kang. And everybody say Amen."
First you said >Not gonna engage with hate cause it is never worth it,
Then the troll showed up. And you promptly engaged with it. And you said >I'll thank you not to rope me into your troll crusade
But the very ACT of replying at all, means you roped yourself into it. You then go on to say you "have better things to do", but clearly for 10 seconds as you were typing that out, you did not in fact have better things to do, because you had the time to reply to his comment.
That's like saying "I'm not going to feed this tiger" and then immediately tossing a rump roast at it's feet.
"Don't feed the trolls" means don't feed the trolls. Not even once. But it's too late, ya dun did it nao.
hmm I really want a kdrama remake with seo ye ji and lee soo hyuk
I love love love lee soo hyuk, but I can't see a korean remake being better than this. "Dark romance" is not something koreans do very well (just imo). They can do dark, and they can do romance, but add them together, and suddenly it gets all messed up. Good korean dark romances either end badly (The Smile Has Left Your Eyes, Scarlet Heart Ryeo).... or they're not dark enough (My Roommate Is a Gumiho, Doom At Your Service, Goblin, Kill Me Heal Me, The Master's Sun).... or they don't have enough actual romance (Flower Of Evil, Born Again).
And for whatever reason I don't understand, they don't ever end up letting LSH play ML roles, even though they should. I mean is S-Line ever coming out? And if/when it does, it's supposedly only 6 episodes. He doesn't have that many years left of being at the right age for playing an ML, and it looks like they're just going to keep shelving his talent indefinitely.
I wonder if Seo In Guk has enough acting range to play a role like Xie Wei, maybe he'd be good...?
I know how you feel, but I'm trying to stay optimistic that maybe industry people will notice how much we love…
You've seen a lot of the ones that come even sort of close.... TTEOTM, LLTG, LBFAD. Here are a few more, and keep in mind none of them is that much like SoKP, but just *kind of sort of* like it:
A Dream of Splendor - ML is smart and errybody's afraid of him, historical c-drama styling Doom At Your Service - ML is literally 'Doom' Extremely Perilous Love - Hot dangerous ML, historical c-drama styling Come And Hug Me - Just kind of dark and angsty Tale of the Nine Tailed - Kind of dark, ML is a gumiho The Scholar Who Walks The Night - ML is like a vampire or something, historical joseon styling Love Better Than Immortality - ML is not who she thought she was supposed to be with, historical c-drama styling Love Is Phantom - spicy and slightly dark Undercover Affair - ML is a badass Koi To Dangan - ML is a ganster badass
I dredged my watchlist for those, so they're in order from what was IMO, best to worst. None of them is what you're looking for, they just might occupy you for a while so your withdrawls aren't so bad.
Do you have any good recc's for dark ML's (besides the obvious TTEOTM)? I'm always looking for more dark, broody…
ML goes through various personal transformations in the show. He starts off like a little defenseless bunny, and then literally turns into the devil, and in the last maybe 30% of the drama he kind of balances out between the two sides of his nature.
I know what you mean about "starts off dark". This doesn't follow that pattern at all. However.... He doesnt END the show as a super dark character. But his character is taken seriously throughout the show, the writers never trivialize his personality.

>Ah yeah, the ending. I honestly didn't experience it as something sad back then because they both died and left this world together & it was so fitting. I get sad only when one character gets left behind, but that's probably a me thing 😅
There's one that has a bad ending that I like, they both go at the same time, 'The Smile Has Left Your Eyes'.... I rated that like a 9 or 9.5 I freakin loved it. The end was fitting, and I knew going in how it would end so I was ready for it. So, I'm not totally against entertaining the idea of a bad-ending drama.
But like A Journey To Love, are you fekking kidding me, that was awful. I watched for Liu Yu Ning because he was HOTTT as Hao Du in The Long Ballad. I told myself after that I'd watch anything he was in. But I was so so disappointed in AJTL.
The one I'm really really curious about is Goodbye My Princess. The reactions people have to watching it are so either totally loved it or totally hated it. Makes me wonder how bad this ML truly is.
