If you know an actor that's being trashed, or you are an actor being trashed, just remember these people don't know you. They're talking about you in your professional capacity. Some people are gonna cross the line, and that happens with any job that's in the public eye. You just have to take those rude personal comments, and throw them in the trash and not let it get to you.
I've heard korea has like the highest suicide rate in the world or something like that. And some actors we all know are now no longer among us because the pressure they were under was too great for them to bear. Personal comments like the ones that haters make sometimes are unfounded and obviously ridiculous to normal people.
But I mean, even here on MDL, people can get that way with eachother. BatChest has PM'd me death threats before because I didn't like My Demon and he did. Today, BloodFarmer attacked me for explaining what sociopathy is in the comments for Cheese in the Trap, and called me jobless. But I don't see people flying in to my rescue, and it's just because I'm not famous.
Famous people attract more nonsensical comments and hatred, but they also attract more love. So if you're an actor - or know one - and you see this, remember that we all get attacked like this sometimes, but at least you have fans you can rely on to have your back and lend you emotional support.
The idea of someone taking internet comments personally fills me with sadness, because there's always going to be some jackasses out there, and you can't let them control your feelings. No one deserves to have that kind of power over you.
i don't know why people don't like this drama, its somewhat similar to doom at your service which is loved by…
Reasons why some don't like the show:
The ML's styling and wardrobe is terrible. The acting isn't the greatest. The storyline is somewhat disjointed. The best moments of the show are put at the end/beginning of episodes and it breaks the feeling of continuity. The dialogue is often inane or cringe (like some of the dumb stuff "god" says). The romance is tame, domestic and spiceless. Many parts of the story are blatantly ripped off from other successful dramas. There's parts that - while some people liked them - other people thought were painfully cringe, like the dancing scene. Some parts of the story don't make any sense. And to top it all off, demons as a general topic for a drama, is supposed to be sexy dark and mysterious, and this drama instead turned the subject matter into a light comedy which I'm sure many weren't expecting. Also... and this may be a shocker to fans.... some people don't think Song Kang is hot, so having him star in a show isn't more inclined to make them like it.
The amount of hate this drama is getting is crazy😭 I dropped it, but I am picking it up again because of my…
"please be careful of what you say".... you realize that the kind of person that comment is directed at, will never respect your request, even if you add a "please" in front of it. So why bother. You just can't control what other people are gonna say by telling them to stop.
I don't understand why people need to quote the webtoon here. Most of us have not read the webtoon and don't care…
He's actually not a sociopath. He does have SOME of the traits of sociopathy, but he is missing major factors that go into diagnosing sociopathy.
The main ones are ---> Number one, around 90% of the time, true sociopaths have an addiction problem. It could be sex, alcohol or drugs, but it is extremely rare for a sociopath not to have any addiction issues.
Number two, and most crucial, sociopaths cannot maintain long-standing patterns and habits that allow a person to function within society. For instance, a sociopath may seem fine for a few months, and then out of nowhere they will go on an alcohol fuelled bender that lasts days, disappear from family and friends and crash the family car, then just take a nap by the side of the road, sleep it off and hitchhike home, then act like it never happened. Or go on a sex-bender with a prostitute, lose all their money and get arrested for suddenly and without warning biting the prostitute's nipple off for no reason. They might suddenly hatch a badly thought out plot to steal the family inheritance, and get caught. They might seem normal and get good grades in school and never date or have sex, and then suddenly decide to have sex with all the boys in the neighborhood behind the tool shed for a day. (All of those a true stories from psychologists, btw) They simply cannot maintain normalcy for longer than a few months at a time.
This makes them nearly unable to finish school, have a long term relationship with ANYone, hold down a job, or support themselves. And this trait is THE hallmark sign of sociopathy. They key of it is the self-sabotage.
One sociopath who was admitted to a psych facility after he'd done something extremely stupid, was asked by a doctor why he did what he did. The man said, "Well it was sort of a practical joke." The doctor asked him who the practical joke was on. He scratched his head and said, "Well on myself, I guess." These things they do at random, are always self-sabotaging. They inflict the consequences and punishment of these episodes on themselves, without any real thought into why they do it.
This is why i'd be more likely to call what the ML has as "antisocial personality traits", and not sociopathy or true antisocial personality disorder.
If anyone is interested in learning more about sociopathy, the psychologist's quintissential classic regarding that subject is called "The Mask Of Sanity", and it can get you started on learning all about what the condition is like, what it looks like, and how it is diagnosed.

I would have loved it more if they let him keep the white hair through the whole thing! You're right about Bai Lu.... she would have been a lot better in that role.

Whats funny, is that asians don't fully understand vampires, and when they go to write a story about one, they always screw it up in epic fashion . But then they accidentally made one of the best vampire stories I know of. Go figure.
I think it's especially cool because if I was Ling He, and suddenly landed an ML role opposite Bai Lu, I'd be nervous as hell. Everybody knows she has such natural chemistry with LYX, and to think I was being compared to him would make it hard to just relax and act naturally, but Ling He completely knocked it out of the park, even the kiss scenes. Just 3 years ago he was taking cheesy roles like Sparkle Love and Maiden Holmes, and now he's starring in a major production and making out with Bai Lu. Crazy!
I'm bummed because I totally like Yan Zi Xian so I was ready to get all into this, but I couldn't handle more than 2 episodes because FL is - IMO - completely strange looking and I just can't keep watching her.
i feel like you shouldn't even be allowed to rate dramas unless you've finished them, but that would be impossible…
PSA----> BatChest enjoys hiking, biking, romantic walks on the beach at sunset, verbal abuse, and occasionally PM'ing death threats to anonymous internet users. He's single, ladies. Don't all fight at once over him.
Lovely Runner (kdrama) is the only one that rivals my love for Story of Kunning Palace!
I did like it!!! I'm a vicious hard grader. For me, an 8 or above means it has a rewatch value. I'm picky about what I'd rewatch. I haven't given anything an 8 in a while. Out of the last 20 or so dramas I've watched, I've only given out 2 other 8's.... (the other two were short-length - Undercover Affair and Playing House).
8 is a solid recc, I enjoyed it <3
Aggressive kiss got edited out: See, I knew those two actors had more chemistry to burn than what they were showing. The producers wrecked it. Korea! where the food is spicy and the dramas... not so much.

Finished it... a solid watch, I gave it an 8. I appreciated the strange flavor of angst in it, however.... this was totally like a k-drama writer's dream come true that EVERYONE just keeps getting amnesia over and over again lol.... I don't like memory wipes in dramas. But this one was somewhat tolerable because the ML regains all the memories later and the impact of all his memories falling into place is super daebak to watch. Kind of points off for having too mild of a spice level, but hey that's usually what youre in for when you watch a k-drama. Both the actors could have done a higher spice content, and I bet there's hotter kisses that got left on the cutting room floor because censors. Really nice ML/FL chemistry. If only k-dramas weren't quiiiiiite so tame, aigoo.
Sometimes I come here when I'm really enjoying a series just to see if other people are enjoying it too. And then…
i feel like you shouldn't even be allowed to rate dramas unless you've finished them, but that would be impossible to make happen. Still.... I wish people wouldn't rate shows that are ongoing. You can't really know what rating a drama deserves till you've seen the ending.
When a man kisses a passed out drunk woman, that's assault. But when a woman does it to a man, that's fine. Yay…
Might not be your brand of feminism, but there's plenty of feminists out there who think part of healing societal and personal wounds involves subjecting men to the same kind of bullshit that women have gone through, and purposely turning that aggression around and inflicting it on men. It's represented in a significant sub-culture of 3rd wave feminism. And I know because I know a lot of feminists who do exactly this....they feel that no ture meaningful justice has been served until men have been sufficiently subjugated culturally the way women have been historically. They find it "empowering".
There's plenty of men out there who would consider what she did assault, but would never voice that out loud because they're afraid to seem un-masculine due to societal pressures of their own.
