The last episode is such a huge let down for me. This reminds me of the second half of SITR which ruined an otherwise…
I loved it, i thought they totally nailed it. The writer said she didn't want to finish their story. But she did have to, and considering that I think she did a fantastic job. It was wrapped up A) neatly and B) with an emotional, and funny, and dramatic last set of sequences, ending on a kiss scene you wait the entire series for, and sometimes dramas like that are the best ones.
A comprehensive ending takes away the writer's ability to revisit the characters and write a sequel series if she so chooses. It creates canon that then confines the writer in the future. She probably wants these characters alive in her mind and open ended so they can have fresh life in the future. If you think about it, every single character is left open ended, not just ML and FL.
I don't think it is for a fact that Shiba killed Ama. We see her suspecting It and the film also puts that possibility,…
I walked away from this asking myself if Shiba was yakuza. Because of the pulled out nails. I could understand them getting in a confrontation over her, and psychologically I could understand why he inflicted all the wounds he did, but not the nails. It just seemed really brutal and random and out of character. Say they were arguing over her when it all happened, and neither one of them was willing to give her up. Ama I see as the kind of kid that as soon as even one nail was pulled out, would cave and let Shiba have her. That's not cigarette burns, that's the kind of torture that breaks people. Seemed more yakuza/mafia style to me.
I rewatched like 4 times, and then I had to stop, and I told myself that I wouldn't rewatch till I'd mostly forgotten…
Well to me it is, but I am a dark/toxic/red flag/antihero/badass/vampire/moster/kumiho lover. I'd call this drama "vampire-adjacent", and as such it's one of the best vampire shows I've ever seen.
He's not really a vampire, but if you just pretend he has fangs and his drug addiction is a blood addiction, boom this is a vampire drama.
I just looked over your watchlist, and idk if you'd really dig this one, not sure. Your tastes seem to lean less dark and less toxic. Here we have forced kiss scenes and throat grabbing and ML is petty, grumpy, sometimes mean, and sometimes he gets a little bloodlusty. The court-intrigue part of the story is a little bit dry. There's two really hot 2ML's that you might end up shipping more than the ML.
Some of us have permanent brain damage from how hot ML in this was, and others who watched it walked away dissatisfied. But the MDL score is really high, so I guess a lot of people liked it. It's just not everybody's cup of tea.
Light yet sophisticated, angsty age-gap romance between a teacher and a host 100% kilig but 0% spice. Oldschool…
I can't think of anything that matches up quite like those do, but 'My Uncanny Destiny' is similar but a significantly lighter watch (leaning slightly more toward comedy and less toward seriousness but still a well-executed story)... and 'A Dream of Splendor' doesn't have quite the production value or attention to detail, but the story is solid and the character dynamics are somewhat similar, and production value isn't the best but it's by far not the worst, kind of mid-grade.
I'm thinking you might like those two shows as well.
dude. look at the stats and scroll down to "age group" and then explain to me how just howthis is sitting…
I looked further into this, and did some maths. So 36% or so of voters are not represented in the "age" chart. Presumably because those profiles when they signed up, left the DOB field blank (does MDL let you leave that field blank? icr it was so long ago).
Nao.
In order for the actual rating to truly be 7.8, based on the other data, that means that the "no-age-provided" profiles that voted, would have to have given L2L a group average of about 7.2 or 7.3.
In the voting done by people who have an age (even if it's a fake one), it's like 8.1 total average.
Isn't that weird that the "no birthday entered" accounts somehow gave this drama a 7.3, when everybody else together gave it an 8.1?
Whatβs it with Chinese drama and the constant / unnecessary neck choking I hate it
i also hate it. I have to just look past it to watch c-dramas but it bothers me quite a bit if I think on it for even 5 seconds. Especially especially when it's in scenes that are supposed to be sexy or spicy. Augh, so so gross and horrible. Chinese women just need to put their foot down on that shit, or at least that's my american perspective.... if the ladies didn't like it, then it wouldn't be such a commonly portrayed act esp in romances. idk if it's some fetish thing or misogynist thing or what.
I mean I assume without any real knowledge of it that manhuas written by women also portray this? Does anybody know? idk. It's a justwhy situation for sure.
The more I watch the more I want to watch. Such an underrated series! There are no throwaway characters. They…
No throwaway characters, and no throwaway scenes. The use of screentime is so efficient, and that makes it so the viewer doesn't feel dragged through the story. It takes it's time with the scenes and the emotions, but it doesn't have anything unnecessary added so the pacing feels amped up, like you're on a rollercoaster and you're NOT getting off til the ride is over lol.
The sensitivity with which the writer/producer/director treated Manami's father and mother, the hosts, the other teachers, the fiancee.... is almost never done in other dramas.
I'm just in shock that something this good actually came out in current year, and actually came out of Japan.
For me, one of the scenes that got to me was when she passes the notes on her students on to the next teacher. She cares so much about teaching!
And the scene where her dad says to Taiga 'go back to school!', the look Manami shoots at her dad, that got to me too. She was so prepared for him to beat the crap out of Taiga, or forbid her from seeing him, and when he pulled a total 180 and did the right thing, she was so floored, her face was red and she was like mad, but happy-shocked at the same time, it was so perfect.
As a huge fan of EITDN, I just saw this and cannot WAIT to get off work to binge it, hell yes! I'll watch literally anything Fang Jin or Jesse Ren are in now. This looks totally cool!

1) What were they writing to eachother on the back of the flyer?
2) The 2ML THAT WAS AWESOME!!! Gaaahhhh they made him so likeable at this point, and he seemed like such an ass at first!
3) The scene with Taiga and his mom was so intense, so well acted holy SHIT!
4) When he's like this is heavy, and she's like wahh as if I don't know that! Gotdang that was one srsly intense moment (fans self)
5) Her dad busts in and when he finally says to Taiga "Go to school!"... THE LOOK ON MANAMI'S FACE IS SO FREAKIN PRICELESS!!!
