It's portrayed as less than consentual because if they did the same scene and it was entirely consentual that would make FL a cheap woman. The aphrodisiac story mechanism serves the purpose of allowing the FL to have a racy scene and still not be seen as 'impure' or 'sl*tty'.

it's just red-flag coded, this whole drama is. you can call it disgusting but some relationships have this as a dynamic, as unhealthy as it looks from your personal vantage. I understand, and that's why i said it's a "risky move" because if it was done on someone like you, you would get like a ptsd from it or be mortally offended or feel assaulted or what have you. It doesn't work this way for everyone in every relationship, but for a significant subset of women, it does. He stopped when he realized she doesn't work that way.

I also think he stopped himself short. But I forgive him for his mistake, because there's lots of females out there who can be brought out of their negative emotions or thought spirals by intimacy, and often they will say no, no, I don't want to be close right now because I'm too upset. But if you let them fight it out and have a tantrum, they vent it out and then release their tension, and end up happier for it. But a man has to be brave enough to try that risky move. They've been together for like 5-6 years, maybe he's obsessed, or maybe he's just been badly gaslight and misled and betrayed by this woman for so long that he's having a hard time accepting that. He thought it might work to just overpower her negativity and fear with passion, to remind her of their closeness. But it didn't work because she's an ice queen and he's a blind dingbat who fell for that trashy thot.

...if he had been with me instead of that bitch.... no one would be suffering here. Everyone would be living their best life rn. This horrid ingrate FL is just WRECKING this perfectly lovely story and this perfectly lovely man. She's a terrible terrible person.
I'm so conflicted because I want to call this story trash, I want to trash the creator and the director and the writers and say this is a sh*t story and I hate it. But those are the exact same people who turned Fan Zhi Xin into one of the sexiest ML characters I've ever seen. So I can't trash them too much because dayum that's a FINE ML.
They've only dropped to ep 17 where i'm watching. It's CRAZY how FL's performance keeps getting worse and worse, and ML's keeps getting better and better. He had some totally amazing scenes in ep 15/16.
Also in beginning of ep 15 when she's praying at the graveyard and dirty cop came up behind her and BONKED her head into the headstone, that made me laugh way harder than it should have.
There's some powerful and/or cool scenes in these eps, which is kind of incredible for a show this basically awful, that it's still going strong at this point.
im on ep 13, the shipping container fight scene was good. And it was especially good because the villain says like 'i hear she's still afraid of the dark', and he stomps on the box, and I'm like "stomp on it harder!! aaaahahahaha!"

This project for him will be GREAT on his resume, so I'm hopeful his career will get a boost from the performance. He always plays intense, but usually he has to play a character that is more subdued or reserved. Here he plays someone extroverted, gregarious, emotional, angry, conflicted, expressive. He was awesome in his fight scenes. He's grown as an actor. You can see it in his eyes on this one when he's doing intense scenes, that he is IN that character. It's awesome. He so cool.... He makes the character feel so real. He just belongs in a better caliber of project. I am so so rooting for him.

Because he violated the unspoken rules for happy ending for a character. He even tried praying to buddha and not ever killing again, and still could not escape his fate. His hands are too dirty as a mafia kingpin. So sad! Story creator is an emotional masochist, who would make such a gorgeous and ideal character and then just emotionally torture him all drama long.
The character needs to be adopted into another story that treats him better.
