I moved on to "between shows" shows. Watched Turbulent Love, caught up with a few Ryan Ren dramas I missed when they came out, and now watching In Love With Loving You. When that dilraba/chen drama has more eps dropped, I'll see if i can get into that one.
is it worth watching? Chinese dramas are much longer than what I’m used to but I want to give them a try…
my aunt only watches k-dramas, and i keep trying to get her into c-dramas and she can't last more than like 3 eps on anything i give her, but i asked her to watch POJ and she binged all the eps in 3 days and loved it, and compared it to CLOY, which I agree with. The vibe is totally different than cloy, but just like cloy, it's addictive, well-rounded, engaging and fun. You will know within like 1-3 eps if you like it or not. It really grabs you and sucks you in.
I really tried to like it. But I'm sorry. Qin Tian Yu is a good actor. He was so damn good in FATED HEARTS and…
omg i was so stoked to notice Tian Yu had a new drama out, because he freakin blew me away with that performance in Fated Hearts. I'm so dissappointed to hear people aint liking him in this role here. Then I skipped around in the drama to check it out and Noooooo spank you, the subject matter is WAY too heavy to mix into a "romance" drama.
I also hope he lands a good role soon that plays to his strengths, because damn he can really act.
One word: SENSETIONAL ❤️🔥✨🔥I cannot believe how BEAUTIFUL this drama is. 😭💖The chemistry…
granted I havent watched EVERY single dilraba drama ever, but the ones I have seen, her kiss scenes are so chaste... I hope Arthur shows her whats up, and doesn't give dilraba any room to screw up the kiss scenes. She's so picky about who she has true chemistry with.
I'm gonna try picking this back up again soon and starting over from the beginning to give this drama a fair shot. So I have a question for people following closely:
I watched the first 5 eps, and I'm having trouble understanding the creative direction of the show overall, like it's "flavor". So what are some other dramas that are similar in style and tone. Is this comparable to When Destiny Brings the Demon? Or Tiger And Rose? Or Shen Li? The use of color, drama vs humorous moments, how the plot unfolds... it feels confused to me so far, so maybe I'm not going into it with the right frame of mind.
I don't know why, but I don't like her acting. I don't watch the drama tht hv her in
Sometimes I like her and sometimes I really don't but I've noticed personally that I think she just gets miscast a lot for parts. It's not that she's that bad of an actress. For example, imagine her playing opposite Deng Kai as an evil power-couple. It would be awesome.
I watched 5 eps of this one, and dropped because I need to slam like 10 eps in a row to decide for sure if I can find this one fun, so I'll pick it back up later this week to give it a second shot. And although I'm not really feelin it on this one so far.... Dilraba is actually the one doing the heavy lifting in this show, she is well cast here. The things I find "wrong" with the show so far have nothing to do with her.
I think if you're ever in the mood to give her another shot to impress you, this might be a good one to try.
Its laughable to see some people writing up a whole damn essay about how trashy POJ is just to glorify how perfect…
idk, i did that with ABAY... I hated it so much I HAD to finish it. And Kai and Seven's fans on that page were MEAN. Really really mean, and they would say "well then why'd you finish it if you hated it so much", but I try to always finish a drama. I've seen like 500+ dramas, and I've dropped maybe 10-20, ever, in all that time.
But to say you didn't watch a drama but you don't agree with it's rating is a whole other level of special that I just cannot comprehend.
This show is a clear example of people choose beauty over brains. Or beauty over brawns (coz the Marquis never…
Well if my aunt is any indicator, she's a senior citizen, she watches hallmark romances and k-shows nearly exclusively. Sometimes she watches bible shows and rodeos. She can't get into a c-drama even though she tries to give them a shot.
I recc'd POB to her, and told her she would really like it, and she watched about 5 eps, and dropped. I begged her to pick it up again, she watched 1 or 2 more eps then dropped again.
I told her to try Blossom, Legend of Shen Li, Rise of the Phoenixes, My Uncanny Destiny, and a few others... none of them stuck for her, she just couldn't get into them. I don't think she ever made it past ep 3 of anything except POB, because I begged her.
But I gave her POJ and she BINGED the sh*t out of it, she slammed all the eps in like 3 days, and after we finished it, she said it was "really good" and compared it to CLOY. And her only complaint was that ML was in her words "such a baby face" that she didn't find him believable as a general.
Believe me, at her age, it's about the STORY way more than it is about the visuals. And she loved it.
yea but you gave guardian, my love from the star and kill me heal me all 10/10, which to me is crazy. So my point…
I mean I basically almost never give out 10's, but when I go into people's watched lists, there are a lot of people out there, maybe around half, who give out 10's like candy to kids at a parade.
I gave this a 9, I liked it about as much as I like dream of splendor and blossom.
yea but you gave guardian, my love from the star and kill me heal me all 10/10, which to me is crazy. So my point…
Every now and then it happens, like Hidden Love got pretty high up there iirc and TTEOTM, there's a few others. I think SOKP is the best drama on the planet, and it never cracked 9 and I don't understand but hey.
One of the only scores I thought was blatantly artificially inflated was My Demon. What a terrible drama, there is no way it was ACTUALLY rated that high. If that was organic, then I am afraid for the world because dayum.
9.1 is a crazy rating. Whose fans are mass rating it 5 stars?
yea but you gave guardian, my love from the star and kill me heal me all 10/10, which to me is crazy. So my point just being that this show IS really really good despite it's flaws, and I'm sure lots and lots of people gave it a 10 just because it's GOOD, not because they're anyones mass-rating fans. it deserves its score.
Everyone has different tastes, but this show has insane mass-appeal like CLOY
Actually, Zhang Linghe did film some battle scenes, and he was even excited about it since it’s his first time…
Xie Wei = Best ML character ever. I have seen and read so much stuff, and I'd have to wrack my brain to think of a better ML in any fiction anywhere.
I liked Mr Rochester from Jane Eyre, but Xie Wei never locked an ex wife in his attic and then neglect to tell his current gf about it. I liked Edward Cullen but his cringe factor is too high. I liked Jonathan Rhys Meyers in Dracula, but they cancelled the series early.
There is literally nothing better than Xie Wei. I wish I had known before I started SOKP that I was literally watching the best show on the face of the earth, because I would have slowed down and savored it more.
Also, Bailu not always my fave, but that role was hers. It suited her perfectly, and she also killed it.
I also hope he lands a good role soon that plays to his strengths, because damn he can really act.
