I was not a fan of love in the clouds

my aunt only watches k-dramas. i convinced her to watch poj, and she binged it SO FAST. She was done with it in like 2-3 days and she said she really liked it a lot.

hard to figure out what to recc when you don't have anything on your watched list. I don't know what you've seen and what you haven't.

YES to all of that for me also. I also thought the tone the show took overall, made the "insane deposed emperor" scene look way way too over the top and facepalm, me and my aunt both thought that scene was too cringe to fit in that story.

It was so so good overall, i'd play it for someone who has never seen a c-drama before to show how good they can really be.

My unwanted opinion though, is that when I walk away from this drama and let it settle in my mind, the biggest thing that stands out to me about this show is Deng Kai as Qi Min, and how he just stole the show because he acted his ass off and was just so damn sexy. He has way too much charisma, and he upstaged everybody. Snow Kong was the best acting partner I've ever seen him paired up with, they had so much natural chemistry and she's a fabulous actress.

If I wanted to rewatch my fav Ling He drama, it's still SOKP. But if I wanted to rewatch my fav Deng Kai drama, it's POJ.

Tried to watch because Ryan Ren. Every minute is like torture. I made it 5 eps in and just lack the inner strength to continue. Main reason? FL
The plot and script are also terrible, and the direction is god-awful, and the styling sucks, but I might have been able to tolerate all that, were it not for the fact that I find the FL so annoying that it's almost like she was custom designed by some malevolent force to the exact specifications that would p*ss me off the most.

I envy those who enjoy watching her, because they get to watch Ryan Ren bein all sexy and I don't.

My goal is usually to try to describe a drama in such a way that it doesn't ruin the experience of going into the show blind.

It's portrayed as less than consentual because if they did the same scene and it was entirely consentual that would make FL a cheap woman. The aphrodisiac story mechanism serves the purpose of allowing the FL to have a racy scene and still not be seen as 'impure' or 'sl*tty'.

I'm not condoning it, but this is the logic of C-drama. That's why those scenes often happen the way they do.

He needs to get noticed by people who do a higher tier of drama, hopefully this role boosts his career. He keeps getting better all the time.

omGG do NOT put oxytocin music over a dopamine romance &%#()&%()*$& ughhhhhhhh this one's hard to get into, i can't believe i'm dropping a jesse ren drama, but the settings are drab, the FL is giving nothing, the wardrobe is god awful, and the ost/bgm is STOMPING anything this drama might have had going for it right into the dust.

this is one of the worst things i've seen in a while.

my rating is negative 5, they wasted everyone's time and money casting jesse ren in something this low class and painfully amateur.

props to makeup dept tho, they did a good job.

it's just red-flag coded, this whole drama is. you can call it disgusting but some relationships have this as a dynamic, as unhealthy as it looks from your personal vantage. I understand, and that's why i said it's a "risky move" because if it was done on someone like you, you would get like a ptsd from it or be mortally offended or feel assaulted or what have you. It doesn't work this way for everyone in every relationship, but for a significant subset of women, it does.
He stopped when he realized she doesn't work that way.

I mean they've been together a WHILE. It's not like she's a stranger or has until then been an unwilling party.

I also think he stopped himself short. But I forgive him for his mistake, because there's lots of females out there who can be brought out of their negative emotions or thought spirals by intimacy, and often they will say no, no, I don't want to be close right now because I'm too upset. But if you let them fight it out and have a tantrum, they vent it out and then release their tension, and end up happier for it. But a man has to be brave enough to try that risky move. They've been together for like 5-6 years, maybe he's obsessed, or maybe he's just been badly gaslight and misled and betrayed by this woman for so long that he's having a hard time accepting that. He thought it might work to just overpower her negativity and fear with passion, to remind her of their closeness. But it didn't work because she's an ice queen and he's a blind dingbat who fell for that trashy thot.

I can't believe this piece of crap drama is actually going to be a rewatch for me just because HES SO FREAKIN FREAKIN HOTTTT

...if he had been with me instead of that bitch.... no one would be suffering here. Everyone would be living their best life rn. This horrid ingrate FL is just WRECKING this perfectly lovely story and this perfectly lovely man. She's a terrible terrible person.

I'm so conflicted because I want to call this story trash, I want to trash the creator and the director and the writers and say this is a sh*t story and I hate it. But those are the exact same people who turned Fan Zhi Xin into one of the sexiest ML characters I've ever seen. So I can't trash them too much because dayum that's a FINE ML.
