This all just goes to show, that Deng Kai NEEDS MORE & BETTER ML ROLES, because any time he plays a supporting character, he upstages everyone who shares the drama with him. Man has charisma to burn, and all that hotness is being wasted on side characters and half baked characters in budget short-lengths. Even in an a-list production, he only needs about 20 minutes total screentime, and he's already threatened to upstage Ling He of all people.

I tried watching 2 different Ming Hao dramas and both of them were totally lacking in spice content.... has Ming Hao ever taken a role that actually has some spice to it?

Not everybody saw A Dream of Splendor, but that's one of my faves of the genre, I gave it a 9, and I'm picky.

Gaza, Iran, Ukraine, Myanmar, Sudan, Yemen, Somalia. More if you count Pakistan, Haiti, Syria, Lebanon, Nigeria, and Ethiopia.

the thing is, they're not lazy hot scenes, they're super fire, really well done. Honestly, all they had to do was either A) tone down the sexification just a touch or B) tone down his crazy just a touch. I also am confused.

NOT complaining about Deng Kai being hotter than fire tho and giving an incredible performance.

First half is really pretty strong. Hooks you from ep 1. But now is the halfway mark and it's going into a state of flux. It remains to be seen if it holds up through to the end or not. BUT. Even if it doesn't pan out with later episodes, if you like Ling He or Deng Kai, this is a must watch regardless. Ling He giving Xie Wei vibes for the first time since he was in SOKP, and Deng Kai with a superb breakout performance. Tian Xi Wei holding strong, and Snow Kong is really great cast opposite Deng Kai.

If there IS a weak link, it's the scriptwriting that is confusing watchers at certain spots, but it might pull through.

Cinematography and aesthetics, bgm/ost and pacing are very good.

I love it when the perpetually morally outraged get offended by the things I like. Please, never get over it.

I can't tell the difference either, I told my kids that if it was someone else doing his dub-over, they're a better match than new kermit is to old kermit.

what irritates me are the plot holes that haven't been addressed by the drama. The one I just can't get over is that after their happy home was raided twice by black ninja types, Xie Zheng finds out that their target wasn't him as he assumed, but her. And they whisk the story off from that so fast. But he's supposed to know that there's killers after her family from that original point onward, and yet he leaves them and acts as if they'll be fine.

He should have taken a lesson from Qi Min and just kidnapped her and lil sis.

Then there's the one about why he didn't reveal himself to her with the mask. And why half the dam workers had to stay behind to get slaughtered. Why the falcon has super bloodhound powers. Why lil sis' asthma hasn't kicked in under all this stress.

I think they made him so evil that only a visceral end for him would satisfy the audience. I guess it could be poison if he spits up a LOT of blood. People will want to SEE him pay. I think it'd be like arrow to the heart, shanked in a close embrace, falling on a sword during an attempted attack, something with a decent amt of blood.
