Am I only one, who feels zero chemistry beetwen the leads? I like FL with 2ML more.
I feel the oxytocin part of the chemistry and not the dopamine part.
But the way i see it is this... chemistry happens when the actors themselves respond to eachother in RL. Well, actors and actresses are cast for their roles, they give it their all. But you can't MAKE that chemistry happen no matter how good of an actor you are because it's personal for them.
Getting magical chemistry is just double-bonus and you can't EXPECT that from actors.
Sometimes a story is good BECAUSE of the chemistry alone, it elevates sometimes even a shitty script. But in this case it's the other way around, this drama has literally EVERYTHING going for it, it's doing next to nothing wrong.
And quite frankly, if they DID have the dopamine chemistry with eachother, it'd probably be too racy for someone like my ma, or my gay friend i watched 5 eps with the other day, or my kids when we go out to pho and watch an episode.
Someone like Yan Zi Xian has mad chemistry with many of his FL's because the actor in RL is a very sensual and emotionally accessible person.
Ling He used to be a friggin engineer.
He's just not the kind of person to let himself have chemistry with just anyone. He's a STEM person, he has a critical eye and he is naturally reserved. He had that chemistry with Bai Lu, and he just doesn't have it for Xi Wei.
Whereas Mu Ran is a honey-pie. And he'll probably rock his next project.

Turkish dramas - ML always has a fidelity problem -- perfectly acceptable to lock a woman in her room. In my country that's called false imprisonment and comes with a legal penalty but in Turkey this is fine.
Russian and baltic dramas -- Level 11 chauvinism considered sexy
Korean dramas - ML's getting slapped upside the head -- butt jokes, puking on eachother and excessive drinking --ML's and FL's insulting eachother is considered affectionate ("You're so ugly when you cry" etc)
Thai dramas - slapping, kidnapping are ok
Chinese dramas - slapping and throat-grabbing ok
There's a tradeoff when you watch shows from just about any country. For me with the c-dramas the thing that gets me worse than slapping is the throat grabbing. I will NEVER be ok with that sh*t. Its obvious ML's plan is to take them down, and her scheming is srsly just going to jeopardize his plans. She's going to do something dumb and risky, and she will have to be saved at the last minute by ML. He keeps saying "trust me" and she just won't. She's unable to listen to her heart long enough to realize he's not a bad person and would never hurt her. She can't see that in any situation involving their business, she's the least smart person in the room. Every character knows she's trying to play them. Even the ML knows she's trying to take her revenge into her own hands instead of letting the competent man who loves her to death do it for her. That's why he's trying to move her away to the UK, to get her so far away she can't get herself in any more hot water than she already is in.
So they gonna do "strong clever FL" who botches everything and has to be rescued by her man all the time. And as usual the entire plot will balance on a situation which could simply have been solved by more honest and trusting communication between the leads, which is so tired and tropey.
She's too blinded by low EQ and ragemaxxing to realize he is equally a victim of the same people who victimized her, and he doesn't deserve her hate because he's literally the only one protecting her from being killed by the REAL bad guys.

don't even get me started too late you got me started the ML's stylist is fine, they're great, I love them. But whoever did the females on this show needs to be fired immediately.... they've bought into every stupid current year female fashion trend and executed the final result badly... the stickin out ears, the high crown, the baby lipgloss, french manicure dragon-lady nails, silkworm eye bags. News flash, giving a high crown to that 2fl's hair is NOT going to make her look "babyish", just LOOK AT HER FACE she has the kind of beauty that is carved on the bow of a warship, so you should dress her and style her as such, and not just try and plaster every person you see with The Current Thing. It looks so freaking stupid. And then they made her hair oily and stringy in some shots, and it looks hideous. It's just not having a good handle on your products and how to apply them. Hate for the FL because she is playing with a man's heart... men aren't allowed to develop or show their heart in a man's world (which is def where he lives, in a man's world), and they are tortured, ptsd'd, exploited as a matter of course in their lives, they don't have any softness/purity/gentleness/mercy/love in their lives at all, unless they have a woman. If they do find a woman who not only will have them, but who they can trust, that is their only source of comfort in life at all. That makes what she's doing highly cruel... something a woman might not really fully understand because they don't understand the world the man lives in.
But she has lied her way into a position where she is his only loveline in his ENTIRE life, and if she follows through on her bullshit, she will emotionally k*ll him and destroy him to the point that he might never recover. What she is attempting to do is an affront to god, and she's pretending she can hide behind "doing the right thing" to keep from having to take any spiritual responsibility as a victimizer of a lost and lonely and tortured soul, who she encouraged to open up to her and to trust her.
Doing this to any man is a dangerous thing to do, you should never toy with a man's heart, or you could face serious consequences. Men are to be taken seriously. Not treated like objects or pets or toys. They are to be given a basic amount of respect, if only because they have more power.
To try to toy with THIS man is even more dangerous, because he is like an untamed tiger. She is courting danger she doesn't even understand. She is flippant and cavalier about things she should be weighing far more carefully. I'm so angry for him like any one of us in this comments section could be better to him and for him than her. the writer has created one of the hottest sexiest ML's i've ever seen, and then gave him an extremely stupid duplicitous ungrateful bitch as an FL to play opposite him.
I could be wrong and I hope I'm wrong, but there are certain elements to this show that I think are leading up to a bad ending. First you have the fact that they've been together 5 years. We don't need to have that in the story, we don't need to know that about the characters. But I think the story is built that way to crescendo into a climactic scene with a bunch of flashbacks to the history of their relationship, so when the final moment comes, they hope what we will feel is a 5 year relationship flash before our eyes.
This leads into point two, the music. The ost/bgm songs will repeat, only becoming more and more dramatic each time. And the songs happening are not happy or sexy songs, they are sad, maudlin songs attempting to evoke powerful longing emotions. So in the final climactic scenes, if these songs are playing, somebody prolly bleedin out onto a cold rainy pavement somewhere.
Then there's point three, the fact that he's been depicted killing people and feeding someone to the dogs without flinching. Which makes him very sexy yandere, but I think (plot twists could prove me wrong) he's burned up all his happy ending karma.
Point four, is that Fan Zhi Xin doesn't always take happy ending karmically net positive roles.
