I don't think they'll let the lead villain have more sexy screentime than the MLFL.

Why is this one of the only times in c-dramaland - out of all the love scenes, sexy scenes, out of all the plots - that there's a bath makeout scene with no undershirt happening. That is absolutely gratuitous. I mean I LIKE GRATUITOUS DENG KAI. A lot. But to say the scene wasn't intimately filmed, or sexualized, is just i mean come on.

I think she's smart for playing along too, in fact if it was me, I would have been playing along since the restaurant visit like TAKE ME WITH YOU.

In the "her body her choice" sense, MAYbe you have a point. But the grand picture is that at the end of the day, she is being held against her will, and her son's life is being threatened. That's not exactly "choice". That's more of a survival strategy than a *true* free choice. She's a hostage.

There are other ways they could have stylized that sequence that would have made it less sexayyyyyy.

The point I'm trying to make, is not that it WAS romantic or it WASNT romantic, but that the WAY IT WAS FILMED was to enhance sexiness and there were other ways it could have been filmed that could have given more glossing over to the intimate aspects of the scenes LIKE FOR EXAMPLE SHIRTS. Or more gauze curtain and less SEXY HALF NEKKID DENG KAI.

It does send mixed signals to the audience.

I don't mind that it does that. But I can see why some people do mind.

Well, it's simple. What I mean is that it went too dark.

If you knew what I have been through in my life, you would understand why I thought it was slightly too dark for my tastes when it comes to what I want in my "entertainment".

To t-dump on you would be emotional assault so I won't. Also it's my privacy to not share. But I have been through a legit lot of shit in my life, and this stuff with kids hits too close to home for me to feel comfortable seeing it portrayed onscreen.

If you knew how not soft I was to have survived what I have survived, you would be embarrassed at your comment.

right?! He has this intense charisma that upstages other actors in smaller projects. He's hypnotic onscreen. It frustrates me to no end when he ends up having to take roles beneath his caliber. The Maid? That actress is probably fine for some roles but the vibe she exudes best is "righteous indignation" and she was not well-cast for that role imo. She wasn't playing off his chemistry the way a better-cast actress could have, so he had nothing to work with, and it fell flat. Nobody's fault except the person who made the casting decisions. And the script was mid at best.

He needs beefier bigger roles with well thought out casting choice for his FL... he would have slayed in the ML role of LBFAD, he needs something like that imo.

100% concur. I think Deng Kai has been cast against females who don't match his tone and don't do him justice.... and there have also been projects he's on where they actors are clearly being rushed through the project on a time constraint and the set isn't conducive to trying to act with full immersion in a character. But I've always been waiting for someone who recognizes his talent to tap into it properly. I'm really happy he landed this role and nailed it, because I hope it leads to better roles on better projects for him. He completely deserves it.

I almost never find his romantic interest in a woman character convincing. This time it's total fire, I was so stoked for his character arc, but alas. We get a raving lunatic who is 1000% pure black flag. What an absolute waste of excellent chemistry and gorgeous visuals. It's like the most delicious chocolate decadence cake, but with nails baked into it.

It's just insult to injury to me because Deng Kai doesn't always have good chemistry with his FL and this time he does. Ughhhh

Because she treats him like a normal person... BECAUSE she doesn't know. That is the logic behind his perspective. And how would you feel knowing you created a marriage that didn't mean too much to you, under a fake name.... but now you do mean it and wish it was real. You think he *wants* to have that conv with her?

If I were him i wouldn't want to tell her right away either. Things are (well... were) fine the way they are. He likes their dynamic. He doesn't want it to change.

He probably likes her not knowing. She treats him completely differently than everyone else, precisely because she doesn't know. I'm sure he's not relishing the idea of having to tell her. What if she starts acting differently around him?
