You can try Richard Li's first ML short-length, "The Crush". The episodes are like 3 mins long, the dubbing is awful, but the chemistry is FIRE, and there is nooo shortage of spice.

Undercover Affair was not bad.

Self-esteem comes from the inside not the outside. Her parents in more formative years for her broke down her self-esteem by treating her like she was insignificant compared to the sister who wasn't blood related. What she found out is that trying to fill that hole with power doesn't work. She had everything and was still profoundly unhappy.

In her second life, she starts over with the knowledge that if she wants to fill that pain in her from her parental trauma, trying to gain power in order to prove something to herself and her parents, won't work. She has to build her self worth from the inside out.

because she smells incredible. it's all about those chemicals.

ML starts off as badboy and when he realizes he's in love with her, he instantly does a complete 180 and turns into a total simp. It's such a change in attitude that it's like two different characters. The writers gave up on any creative ideas about halfway through and it turns into just a series of CEO cliches stitched together.

Waste of time and emotional investment.

Youve seen everything, I can't believe you haven't seen it yet. I think you will enjoy it quite possibly.

Those other mediocre dramas with better ratings have one of the following:

1) A dedicated PR team from either the ML or FL's talent agency
2) A better PR budget for the show itself

----> In either of those cases, the ratings are artificially inflated by sock accts. Often in those comments sections there are "rabid/mean fans" aka "shills".

or there's a possibility, however remote it may be, that it is

3) A dedicated teen/obsessed fanbase for either the ML or FL

There is a psychological propensity to rate higher something that others have rated higher, and rate lower things that others have rated lower. If the Fans/shills/PR teams aren't there to immediately write a bunch of slobbering 10/10 reviews, drown out criticisms in the comments sections, and pump up the ratings with ghost accts.... then you get a page that looks more like this page, with more honest organic feedback. Which leads others to view the show with a critical eye as well.

The biggest deal got made out of ABAY, so I watched it and I was like "Are. You. Kidding me right now." That rating is FAKED. Because that show was average *at best*. The only thing not average about it were the ML visuals. I think I fell asleep 50 times. And when I wake up it's because of some wtf moment like when they take an indoor cat to the park in a cat carrier, *strap a party hat to him with the elastic strap that goes under the chin*, and then let him out of the cat carrier in the middle of a clearing in a large busy park in the blaring sun.

AND THE CAT JUST SITS THERE.

I mean come ON!!! Did anyone on the set personally own a cat to know this idea is not only ludicrous, but it borders on animal cruelty. And that brings up another good point, which is that the only way that cat could have had that alarming reaction of "no reaction whatsoever", it must have been on some serious cat-drugs, some cat-valium or something, because EVERY sober healthy cat on the face of the universe is gonna NOPE TF OUT of that kind of siutation and RUN. Either that or go straight back in the cat carrier if it's neurotic. But no cat is just gonna sit there neatly on a little pink blanket. With a little party hat elastic-strapped to his fekking chin. Exposed in the middle of a huuuuge clearing, at high noon with hawks probably circling overhead. Surrounded by strange people throwing balls and walking dogs and being loud. With no crate and no leash. I JUST CANT EVE

And it begs several questions.
1) How come no one on the ABAY comments is calling out what is clearly animal cruelty happening on the set of this drama
2) Exactly how much crack was the script writer on to think up this scene
3) Exactly how much crack was the producer smoking to let that scene stay in the final production
4) Is the cat currently in a hostage situation. Does anyone have proof of life of that poor cat?

This show ripped literally every idea off from another story. It's crappy and has crappy camerawork and film editing, crappy clothes, and REALLY crappy dialogue.

Whoever made this should just quit and become a walmart manager.

I'm on ep 10 and I want to be spoilered on some things:

1) Do ML and FL get together
2) If so, about when in the series does that happen?
3)Are there kiss scenes and are they good?
4)Does ML die at the end? Is this an HE?

Aside from the Hot Kiss, what did you think of the drama itself?

I thiiiiink it's during their capture by Lord Ping Nan? Well over the halfway mark of the show.

Imagine you're taking a music class and the first day in walks your teacher and he's some ultra-hot actual rock star, and he's only teaching your classes as a favor for his music producer friend.

You're not going to actually consider him as a potential relationship partner because he's so far out of your league it's not even a question of "would I or wouldn't I". It would simply never happen.

In this same way, Ning never once thought of Xie Wei in a potentially romantic way because she has low self-esteem, and she is his student, and he is so smart that he's overqualified to be a teacher, and people respect and fear him.

For her, the 2ML is someone she's crushing on partly because she sees him as at least an attainable goal for herself.

But the ML is so rock-star, and she feels that her significance and worth is so small, that he practically has to attack her to get her to understand that he's interested in her. When she keeps kind of brushing off his subtle opening advances on her, it's not because there's no attraction. It's because she's not considering that someone like him would ever bother to view her romantically at all.

There's no buildup of a RELATIONSHIP between them. But there is a build up of ATTRACTION. Her conscious mind isn't involved in that, because it's stuck behind a wall of oblivious and stupid, created by her low self-esteem. But her subconscious self and her body is definitely attracted to him. And he is attracted to her from the outset, and knows it.

Their story is about her REALIZING she's attracted to him, and what he has to do to get her to realize it. I mean she comes to him and cries on HIS shoulder over this other guy she's never come that physically close to. He's standing there, and she comes to him and has her face resting on his shoulder. This is oldschool china, you don't just do shit like that. Her body is attracted to his like a moth to a flame. But the possibility of them together is something that's so far from her conscious mind its like in another stratosphere.

What does Xie Wei have to do to get her to understand that she doesn't actually love 2ML, some second-rate milquetoast, she loves HIM?

In another universe, this would be like the story of the dark prince and the naive farmer's daughter. Or the story of an actual rock star and some rando girl from suburbia whose dad is a refrigerator salesman. There's a fucking ENORMOUS power imbalance there to start with. They get more into it in the novel, but her parents are shit, and they treat her like absolute shit her whole life and make her feel like she's nothing. That's how you want to go into this story, with that as like the basic dynamic.

When she starts craving for power and wanting to be somebody, it's to get revenge on her parents and show them up. She wants to "be somebody" so she can say the biggest fuck you to her mom and dad, like "you thought I was nobody, well look at me now, bitches." That's why her first life went down the way it did. And she learned that her victory was hollow, so now she's trying to find a new way to "be somebody" by making her life have value to others, and not just by clamoring for more power and status.

So Xie Wei sees this gorgeous smart woman, who doesn't realize her real power or value at all... who is flinging herself at this middling government worker who doesn't know shit about shit (from Xie Weis p.o.v anyway), and who doesn't deserve her at all.

***Her entire character arc is about overcoming her low self esteem.***

I'm caught up to ep 27, and I have to say at this point...

...I feel that when they TOTALLY UNNECESSARILY killed off Shrimp, the whole show derailed and did an epic faceplant, and up to now, STILL hasn't recovered. They got me emotionally invested in a supporting cast ensemble, then scrapped all of them and replaced them with a bunch of other characters I don't honestly care about at all.

This turned from a pretty effin good show-up to SOKP... into some Days of Our Lives GoT type shit, complete with long tedious court trial and everything. I'm not down with the direction this show took for the past like 10 or so episodes, and I hope it pulls itself back together.

Shrimp was this freaking amazing breakout performance, cut short for no reason.

Juzt compare that AJTL performance to his performance in TLB. If you cant see the differences, idk what to tell ya. Theyre VERY different roles.
