Hindaya, please check out the conversation arbaz and i are having in this comments section about reccs for you... i wanted to tag u, but arbaz tells me MDL doesnt work like that. ❤❤❤❤❤
Rise of the Phoenixes has some advantages as far as a first c-drama... number one. Its GORGEOUS. K drama watchers go to cdramas and the first thing you notice is they c-dramas suck for 3 reasons *they are cheesier *they are crappier production value *the dubbing. So RotP is like "hey asshole, we can get it right too. We'll kick your ass." I think kdrama watchers should understand that right away, that the budget stuff in china, isnt because they CANT do sleek looking stuff. Its because they churn out an unreal amount of dramas compared to other countries. Cdramas dont represent lower skill level, but just a greater variety of things you can watch.
Number two. The ending. Kdrama watchers are going to have to get used to how chinese like to end shows. And in that sense RotP was textbook classic cdrama ending.
Number three, the romance is tame and frustrating. Again like as with point number two, that makes it a very textbook, repersentative cdrama. There ARE racier cdramas, but on average their sensibilities are more victorian than kdramas. Like with wuxia or xianxia, thats just how it is, there ARE no hot sexy moments, you have to get used to seeing sexy in the smaller things.
But maybe it is a little heavy i guess, as far as not a lot of comic relief.
Yet ANOTHER misunderstanding plot. Can china just put like a 3 year moratorium on that shit? Ffs its so tedious. Astrologically im a mega-fire sign, when we have relationships, there ARE no misunderstandings. If something needs to be asked, we ask it. If something needs to be said, we say it. What she shit even IS this shit??? This ML should kick her straight to the curb in ep 1.
Im bored, I watched everything. Im struggling to give a shit about 'Fateful Love' 5 episodes in.
Its my friday of a 3-day weekend, and while I wait for new stuff to finish airing, im going to binge this again. I think this is watch #5 for me. GotDANG it was so good. Best drama ever.
omg seriously? For me, this is his best acting. Maybe generally you dont like Xie Wei as a character, all the…
It was him dubbing himself. Ive seen some youtube clips of him doing some of his dubbing.
You dont have to defend that you didnt like it. This drama tends to draw in people who like dark red-flag MLs, so when thats not your thing, it prolly seems jarring to watch him like this. Youre definitely not alone, youre not at all the first person to comment on that opinion.
I think this is the best ML i know of in the whole universe, but theres plenty of shows where im like 'WHY does everybody like this crap?' like Lighter And Princess. I feel like im the only person in the world who hated that show.
Ths is not ur usual fluffy romance nd heroic mls be warned i told you as u moving forward
Its there. Every now and then someone will come thru here who cant get past the random echoing effect they used in a few places here and there. Im about to rewatch it, ill tell u where they do it at as i watch.
I'm not ZLH's fan but I'd watched a lot of his drama and I can give a very unbias opinion that yes, this is his…
This is his best acting and his sexiest acting, but his skills were well above average in TPR. Its not my favorite flavor of cdrama, but i cant see many other actors having the chops and the charisma to pull off being that lead role as well as him.... i think theres just a very small handful of actors who could have done it as well.
I'm speechless! It's my first Chinese historical drama and I'm already obsessed. I don't know why there are negative…
Mannnn this being your first historical cdrama is a trip, you are setting suuuuch a high bar now for all other cdramas, oh noes. Theres not a lot of shows to go to from here.
*I saw My Fated Boy first, and it makes He Yu's preformance in Legend of Shen Li just that much more hilarious. I'd watch MFB first, and also the Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms drama(s).... I saw all 3, but I liked Eternal Love of Dream best (altho most people walk away liking TMOPB best). Thats also probably the only thing I actually LIKED Dilraba in. Also, in Shen Li you have to put up with her dumb lipstick thing the whole time. So theres that.
*Another one 'we've all seen' was The Long Ballad. And Love Between Fairy and Devil, Love Like The Galaxy, and that one you recc'd me that was so so gorgeous.... uhh.... forgot the name of it.
TTEOTM isnt for beginners, Arbaz!!! You watch that first youll fry your brain and then wont like much after youve seen it, it will make this newbie picky as hell forever after seeing it.
If they like realism and want good c-dramas to start out on, then Hidden Love should be in there too. And My Fated Boy, altho theyre modern, not historical.
I swear theres some other good LuSi dramas out there too but I forgot which ones were the best of hers. Just not Please Feel At Ease Mr Ling, that one sucked.
If i add @hindaya will that tag this person so they can check this comment?
Might have something to do with China's 1,419,321,278 population. Chinese arms dealer in a foreign country likely…
Its not like he doesnt know her name or anything.
When he rescues her to begin with, who originally contacts him, and how does he get paid? Those are data points that could easily be used by someone with his apparent resources to find her number. China has a lot of people. But that doesnt mean chinese LEOs and intelligence apparatus can't track nearly every one of its citizens, especially non-rural ones. If he has access to more priveleged information and unscrupulous people, why couldnt he track her down? Loan sharks track people down all the time.
Biggest plot hole in the whole story i think, is how he can locate this kidnapped girl in an underground fight club at an arms dealers house in a foreign country with lightning speed, and just catch a ride there in a fancy chopper.... but when he gets back home, somehow his intelligence network isnt able to find her phone number.
Somebody lied to you. The drama is not dubbed or at least not dubbed by voice-actors. The actors use their own…
Im perfectly willing to be wrong, which is why i waited till starting my 3rd rewatch to comment here....
This has quite a bit of dubbing in it. Im sure it WAS the actors dubbing themselves, based on what youve put together. However, the dubbing is there, and imo its kind of obvious in many spots. For one, theres parts where the audio lines are sync'd with the visuals, but theres also parts where its not. I suppose that could be a problem with kisskh and not with the drama. But secondly and imo more significantly, there are many scenes (or parts of scenes) where the natural accoustics of the sets would make the actors voices sound a certain way as the sound waves travel across open air and large flat walls and bare floors, but the audio sound like its recorded in a sound studio with good noise cancelling properties.
The acting is so good. Also, in love with little details. The story can teach you so much. This is so underrated
Thank you for saying it, I 1000% agree. The thick candy shell of dumb n hot, is hiding a rich inner layer of depth and emotional sophistication that a lot of people who watched this completely missed.
The way its deceptively simple on its surface, but hiding deep emotions, imo gives it almost a kind of j-drama vibe.
I dont think this story was as trashy as some are making it out to be. Mark my words, in 20 years this will be one of the most watched short-length c-dramas of all time.
This should have been good... good story, good actors, good styling etc... and yet it just wasn't. I wanted to like it but I just felt like rolling my eyes level bored. I don't really know why.

Here are my dramas that i think might TEMPORARILY take your mind off SoKP:
My Fated Boy
Falling Into You
Some good/bad hot-mess dramas:
My Lethal Man
Embrace in the Dark Night
