Since you mentioned, I took a closer look, the young Pangzi does looks like the younger version of Chen MingHao🙂.…
I tried to add the actor to MDL, but then I forgot to add one specific link (among all the others), that's why he didn't get approved. Didn't find the energy to try again since. 🫠
I see there's a new series called Southern Anecdote. Where in the timeline does it fit related to this Time Raiders?
It takes place around the same time/era as "The Mystic Nine" (so about ~70 years before the events of "Time Raiders"), but in a different part of Asia. The main characters belong to one of the many branches of the Zhang family and don't appear in any of the other dramas, so it's kind of a standalone.
I like this new Pangzi a lot. He brings exactly the right kind of attitude to this adventure, plus he's sexy as hell. <3 (And I still can't believe they found someone to portray him who almost looks like a younger version of Chen Minghao.)
Is this a remake of Yang Yang's 2015 drama The Lost Tomb?
Technically, it's not a remake but a new adaptation of the first novel in the book series, that the 2015 drama was also adapted from. That's why this drama here lacks some of the original characters and storylines that the 2015 version had for some reason back then.
Is this related to the legend of zang hai? That gui seal and the ghost army sounded a lot like the legend of zang…
Yes and no. "Legend of Zang Hai" was initially supposed to be part of this universe, but it later became its own thing and only kept some of the elements of the source material, which is why the Ghost Seal, the army of the dead and the copper fish are still part of its plot.
All those elements play a much bigger role here, though.
Watched the first 4 episodes and I'm loving it so far! This is a far better adaptation of the first novel in the series than the old series from 2015 was, in my opinion, because it's sticking closer to the source material.
And I knew Xu Zhenxuan would be great in this, but he's once again exceeding my expectations. <3
I think even as Yesha he liked bonding with them. Those are people linked to his beloved brother. The only reason…
True, he always seemed somewhat distressed and conflicted when people close to him got hurt, and watching his friends mourn him as TS seemed to have really gotten to him, too. But I guess he was already so far down his chosen path at that point that he couldn't have stopped even if he had wanted to, and he knew that.
One of the details that stood out to me in the last big fight scene in episode 36 is that, although he had more than enough opportunities to do so, TS didn't actually KILL anyone and only injured ZKY and his people. He didn't even draw his sword for most of the fight. Maybe that was supposed to prove that he still had some kind of conscience, especially after working side by side with those people for years, but it went so much against his usual way of doing things as Yesha that it just felt out of place to me. Why spare his enemies now after dragging so many innocent people down with him and getting them killed? Just so they could see him succeed (and then still die later)? It seemed a bit inconsequential.
But anyway, I still really, REALLY loved this drama and it's easily one of my favorites this year. I also loved that the gang adopted ZKY into their little family at the end, he was my favorite character in this.
I don't consider it a wuxia. There are no jianghu elements at all so far.
Thanks for your reply! I realize I could have worded my last post better. My question was if the ghost market can be considered a typical jianghu element. I agree with everything else you said; I don't see this drama as a jianghu tale at all.

Not even the ghost market (or what it was called) where they first tried to find an antidote for Beiming? I've come to associate those places with jianghu. But please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Also hi, it's you again! 😊

I guess they'll stretch the release over two weeks, judging from the streaming calendar posted under the photos for this drama.
