Great review!! I was also very impressed by this drama. :)
Thanks so much for reading it! I think I'll remember this series for a very long time to come. It actually inspired me to track down the book, but my written Japanese is abominable, and no publisher has translated this author's work, ah.
very good article that now i'm searching for some of these films to add to my list. thank you for this.
Not at all! Thank you for stopping by to read. It's wonderful you've taken away something from this article.I hope you also very much enjoy whichever films~
I really love After Life. It's thought provoking, and beautifully shot. Also Daremo Shiranai... is not an easy…
Thank you for stopping by to read this article~ That is a wonderful way to describe After Life; I would go a step further and dub it one of Koreeda-san's very best. Hopefully you'll be inspired to watch even more of his films--they are indeed, all beautiful and well-told.
now i know who this is xD i actually watched air doll and nobody knows they're twou really hmm on one hand preatty…
Every film and drama has an optimal time in which to watch it. If it speaks to you, that's when the best time is~ When the time comes where you feel like you'd like to see another Koreeda, I hope you enjoy it. They're definitely unique, ne?
I loved Sochite chichi ni Naru! I'll surely try his other works now. And it's an awesome idea to concentrate on…
Me too! Soshite, Chichi ni Naru really struck a chord in me, since we don't often see these kinds of parenting stories. That and I've always really liked Fukuyama Masaharu-san. X,)
Thank you so much for reading my article; I hope you enjoy the other films you select from Koreeda-san's repertoire.
I've never watched any of his films but the synopsizes are written so well, they have made me want to try them…
Thank you so much for your kind words. It makes me happy my work has helped influence you to try something new; I hope you'll find many wonderful experiences in Koreeda-san's films~
Such an amazing list and a great idea for start of a series of guides on directors' film works! Or perhaps a film…
Thank you for stopping by to read this, my friend~ That would be neat, right? I wish I knew more directors as well this one, but I wouldn't even know with whom to start. Perhaps other users have become as familiar with a certain director they'd like to share too. :)
Each of those films are great choices (they all are, really); Still Walking and Nobody Knows seem to be most "firsts" for many people. Nearly all of these pack an emotional wallop, but Nobody Knows really does hit hard. The kids are great actors, too.
Great article! :) I like his movies or maybe I should say I like the ones I've seen so far. Thank you for those…
Mm! Please do. Thank you for your recommendation of this series! I haven't had the opportunity to see it yet, but I found it remarkable that even in this format Koreeda-san worked with some of his favorite actors and actresses, haha. He truly seems to have found something of a muse in Abe Hiroshi and others.
Nice article! You're a great writer! The synopses are very well written. I loved Air Doll so much. It is a beautiful…
Thank you so much for your kind words! Air Doll was one of the more unique films in Koreeda's filmography; I love it when he tackles fantasy and spins it into something meaningful, since that can be difficult. You've picked two of the best films to follow up Air Doll though, so I'm excited to hear your thoughts on them~
Finally! An article about a director. I've always thought this aspect was sadly lacking here on MDL. Thank you…
It's easy to forget the eye behind the camera, ne? We often follow an actor or actress, even a writer, but whose vision are we seeing? That is an important question. I'd like to see more directors highlighted as well. There are so many whose work looks fascinating on the whole~
Great article! I've always been a huge fan of Koreeda-sensei's work as well. Please, keep bringing interesting…
Isn't he a wonderful director? I'm glad you enjoyed my article. It's my wish that directors will continue to garner interest around the site too; you'd be surprised how enriching it is to follow their work~
