While I do feel differently about Cruel City, I can see where you're coming from. On my own part, I feel like watching week to week may affect the viewing experience. The days between tend to soften mistakes that may be more glaring when seen all at once.

Ah, I do love Lee Byung Hyun though. After Iris, I've seen him sporadically in movies when I'm not even expecting it. It's sort of like playing Where's Waldo but finding a talented actor. :,)

Ah, hello! Thank you for your comment. I'm doing quite well, currently finishing recapping Good Doctor. How about you? hopefully you're doing all right yourself. :)

From what I've read Kim Nam Gil often plays depressing or revenge-obsessed parts. Like you, I tend to hesitate with them, despite the fact I find him very talented. Someday I'll just wing it with Queen Seon Duk...historicals typically work for me.

As for watching habits, I try to limit myself to one completed and one airing drama at any given time. I have trouble keeping track of more than four simultaneously. Lovers really does look great, so I may try to knock it out after Five Fingers.

If you want to have an in-depth discussion on CC, feel free to directly message me. I always have something to say about it, haha.

I must agree with you on subtitling. Getting the actual video portion can also be a pain. ;-;

Absolutely! Most people begin with It Started With a Kiss or Autumn's Concerto. I think AC feels most like a Korean drama in some respects, but ISWAK has been adapted most recognizably.

I'll definitely remember to chat with you about it then.

I can't lie though. Though I may love medical dramas and Good Doctor genuinely intrigues me, Joo Sang Wook in a lab coat is too good to pass up. It's good to admit my weaknesses :,)

Experiencing such sentiment does tend to be uncomfortable. I can handle it though, since it falls within a specific historical context. Would you recommend Bridal Mask in general?

Ah, is it that time already? You're right, I really need to get back on the wagon with Fabulous Boys then. With a little luck I'll try to knock it and Good Life out this week.

I feel so weird because I've never touched Bridal Mask. It's not that I don't want to, more that it just hasn't happened. I might be the only person entering into Good Doctor without experiencing Joo Won first. :,)

That's very kind; I've found many people around MDL can be very sweet and helpful. And I agree completely. Asian dramas have a fantastic quality of raising one's spirit, which is sort of hard to find in western programming.

Fujiki-san is probably someone you'll come across often; I did, and I'm not sure if it's just because of my taste or because he has a large body of work. As for Japanese dramas, you can't be faulted. They can be a pain to find subtitles for sometimes. They truly are different though and have a distinct taste of their own; I would say that for Taiwanese as well.

I'm laughing, because I realized how similar my favorite Japanese actors were in particular when making that collage. Looking at the others with the same mindset I can totally see it now. XD

this isnt my cup of tea but i would probably watch it because of lee soo hyuk xD
I found his character multi-faceted and more complicated than meets the eye. As to being cold, I wouldn't say so here; I ended up finding his Soo Hyun adorable.

It just took me five passes to write this comment because I keep almost typing "Soo Hyun" instead of "Soo Hyuk." I just wanted to say Lee Soo Hyuk is wonderful in Shark. His strong work alongside Kim Nam Gil tells me he'll be finding for a long time. :)

Part of a comment you made on Cruel City a few days ago really resonated for me. You said that a bad ending has nothing to do with the tone, but with the quality of writing. Thank you for saying that; I often feel like people don't differentiate enough between the two.

Ah, those are good choices! I've heard great things about Just You and Love Around is light, candied fun. Someday I'll have to resume Fabulous Boys...I watched the first episode and decided I couldn't wait week to week, haha.

I also dislike extensions, because you can basically feel them happening as they alter the tone/pace/etc. There's nothing that can draw me out of the experience so much. That being said, there are a few that work here and there...just not many.

Thank you so much for the friend request. I'm glad you got sucked into the madness of dramas. Isn't it a great world? I hope you enjoy Hotaru no Hikari, by the way, as I see you're currently watching. Fujiki Naohito is wonderful in it. :)

I just read your comment after writing this. You're very kind! Writing those reviews is a pleasure.

I think I've been spoiled by Korea and the typical two episode-per-week format. The prospect of only one for an enticing series is very daunting, haha.

Oh, which dramas will you be picking up? I have to agree, by the way. Many Taiwanese dramas seem to stumble trying to have a set amount of episodes. It reminds me of the feeling I get when I watch a decent drama that gets a bad extension. "You could resolve this in x episodes," you know?

Thanks for the recommendation; I really enjoyed reading your passionate review for Lovers. Whenever someone is truly excited about something like that, I can tell it's great. Definitely will have to pick it up sometime. The lead won me over the minute I saw the word "dimples" though, haha.

I'm also giggling a little because I've just experienced Kim Nam Gil as the lead in Shark. It'll feel so strange seeing him in more of a supporting capacity~

I have yet to see "Smile, You" but feel like it's a necessity. It sounds like Jung Kyung Ho is just as talented as I garnered! And oh gosh, thank you for saying that about Hyung Min; I thought I was the only person on earth oogling him. Whenever he wore his holsters I thought I'd die. :,)

I'm a little in between dramas, though I'm watching Good Life (slowly) and Love Around (as airs). My preference tends to lean toward historicals or more "adult" stories (dark tone, mature plot lines, tragic feel, etc). I do like a romantic comedy now and again though, I won't lie.

So many actors from Ryomaden are participating in the Rurouni Kenshin films! I'm excited to see Iseya take up the role of Aoshi; he'll be wonderful, as Sato is as Kenshin.

I do watch Japanese, but tend to wait until they are completely subbed just in case I need them. It's a good way to keep the language fresh since there aren't many speakers around where I live~ I also rather enjoy Taiwanese romances; they can be light-hearted fun.
