After "Lust never lasts" I swore I'd never watch anything from this production company again, but this is so fascinatingly…
I'm wading in again too. I have no idea why. I find this production company's stuff so utterly offensive and still watch it all. "Lust Never Lasts" and "Simply Don't" were both kind of, "What the hell am I watching?" bad.... but here I am again. I'm an idiot. Don't be me.
Sigh where I can I watch this?? The links some ppl share via Youtube it's not available in my country (Japan)...so…
It's only subbed up to Episode 7 at this point even on Youtube. I think if you give Dramacool and Kissasian a few days, they'll appropriate it and throw it up. They're just a few days behind.

I watched Red Wine because of my obsession with Fluke after watching him in Until We Meet Again. The scene towards the end where his past-life memories come flooding back when he visits his and Dean's old apartment was amazing. I was not disappointed, but man was I surprised. :) I haven't seen Eclipse though. I find a lot of BL and Gay movies are downers. I tend to like the dramas that veer towards the Fluffy... or at least ones everyone stays alive at the end. I mean, I can take interesting or even heavy subject matter, but I'm really done with the "Kill our gays" trope.

Regarding "Addicted/Heroin" - Holy CRAP is Gu Hai Obsessive. He pretends he's not rich and moves into a cheap apartment to be near his love interest. He follows him everywhere and makes excuses to stay over at Bai Louyin's house. He even kidnaps him at some point (handcuffs and everything). It's pretty nutty. LOO like 10+
Is everyone aware this s is based on real events witnessed by the director?
Oh yes. The hell that is Motive Village. I assume other production companies have similar issues though. I have noticed that Motive Village hasn't posted to their twitter or Facebook accounts in quite a while. Anyone know if they're still in business? Or if the guy that was running it is still in charge of BL actors?
I like comments of viewers but here I got : Pinoy BL Series reveal Spoiler - Pinoy BL Series reveal Spoiler -…
"Pinoy BL Series" is a user here on MDL that watches every single one of the Filipino BL series... so we don't have to. That includes crap like "Cut", that was never finished, or "Love or Lie" which shouldn't have been and good stuff like "Like in the Movies". They critique everything from storylines to technical issues like lighting, editing, sound etc. As someone who kind of likes these low-budget, shoestring productions, I sincerely appreciate the critiques "Pinoy BL Series" does for these so I can at least see what I'm getting into before starting. If you want to read what they have written about the show, just click on "Reveal Spoiler".
I find myself constantly saying “Why?!” over and over because I’m trying to 1) question myself over continuing…
All of this. And... my Fast Forward button is getting quite the workout. Between the toxic female characters in hooker heals and the tropey completely over-the-top trans characters... it's just kind of a big ouch for me.
Ok... I just started this, and I have read everyone's criticisms below... but I have a couple of (somewhat rhetorical) questions. 1. Why am I watching one of the MLs in this drama seem to fall for a girl that, at least at this point, seems nice? If they want me to root for the main couple later, either stop with the girl, or make her unlikable. This is weird. 2. Why is everyone treating Cookie like she's invisible? Cookie seems cute and fun. She's certainly not the awful dog everyone seems to be treating her like. I actually find her prettier than her friend. So weird.
I'm sure more questions will come up, but these two were especially bothering me.
Edit: Well... neither of those things mattered at all. Both of them basically just disappeared like so much fluff. There are many many lose threads left after you finish this drama. A buncha stuff just went nowhere at all.
Thank you for sharing your well written article. I have been watching kdramas since 2009 and since lockdown cdramas…
I like your list. If you're interested in a really good Wuxia drama, or more correctly it's more Wuxia-adjacent as people from Jainghu show up but most of the focus is on the power-dynamics in the capitol, try "Joy of Life". It is beautifully shot, the story is awesome, and the characters and actors are amazing. Seriously. It's one of the best Cdramas I've ever seen. Right up there with "Nirvana in Fire".
Yes I do the same, too. But that only works if we watch a drama that is completed, as MDLers added characters…
Oh ya... hadn't thought of that. I'm a binger, so I always wait until stuff is done before watching. And by "binger" I mean I've been known to stay up for 56 hours straight to finish something before sleeping. I'm pretty silly. Don't be me.
When watching Historical or Wuxia/Xianxia dramas, with 75+ characters, I find opening the Character sheet from MDL on one tab and the Wikipedia.org page for the drama on another tab is incredibly helpful. The MDL character sheet helps put names to faces, and the Wiki article will often sort the characters by what family or clan they belong to with a short blurb about who they are. This is so helpful, especially for those characters that are important but only show up every 4 or 5 episodes with a bunch of stuff happening in between their visits. I love Wuxia, but without this trick, I would have gotten lost on who someone is countless times by now.
As someone who didn't bother with Tharntype 2, so was not biased in any way against Fiat in any way, I enjoyed this quite a bit (if you don't count the cursed Episode 11, which can just go Die In A Fire). I skipped the last half of 4/4 of Episode 10 and the first half (1/4 and 2/4) of the cursed episode 11 and I think the only thing I missed that I wanted to see was Leo punching Rick. I missed nothing important pertaining to the story at all. Just an FYI that hates the toxic female trope like me.
I loved Leo and Fiat's incredibly loving relationship and I like how it lasted through the whole drama (again... I skipped the stupid crap in 11... ). They seemed to support each other and like each other without all the silly "don't touch me" stuff that we often see from Thai BLs. They seemed to genuinely like each other through everything.
I would also like to say that the actress who played An, Rin Sirinya Puengsuwan, should be in many, many more things... stat. She was awesome. I loved her character here. "I couldn't care less about insignificant people," indeed. :)
Note: BL watcher
And the Black cookies look a lot like young Kim Bum.
