Gong Jun’s “Rising with the Wind” is 99% sure for modern, but as far as historical, it seems like Liu Yuning and Liu Shishi’s “A Journey to Love” might be next. That’s what the latest rumor is.

I see many are calling it out for advertising itself as romance when it’s more like a family drama on a farm, so I just wanted to put this out here… Although they added “romance” into the English title, the actual Chinese title of the drama is more close to “A Farming Era”. So technically, at least for Chinese viewers, it was pretty clear what this drama is about and romance was just an added touch.

It’s emotional moments when they have to deal with their feelings for each other that make you cry. It’s really touching because of the build up to them.

It usually takes around 3 months to film these dramas and since they only started earlier this month, they probably won’t wrap until early January 2024. Hopefully the post production and getting approval to air won’t take too long and no issues occur along the way. Otherwise, we wouldn’t see this drama for at least a year from wrapping.

Chapter 57 going into early chapter 58 of the novel is so good. It gave me so much feels and butterflies. I hope they keep this scene as is and can portray it well on screen. Pei Wenxuan melts my heart 🥺

I agree that Shen Nuo might be another beta tester. I feel like 13 might be one too. It was the way he pointed out that if Shen Nuo can like Man’er then he can also like Ye’er in the next episodes’ previews that seemed to mean more than just in the game context of them being from the palace. He also didn’t have the character intro text pop up when he appeared for the first time like the other NPCs.

I dropped Destined after episode 11 because I’d rather read the novel instead. Maybe there were bts politics and investors wanted to push BJT more? At least in this story both leads are equally smart and capable. Crossing my fingers he doesn’t dumb down the princess and put more spotlight on Pei Wenxuan.

It's pretty much all stated up there. They married when she was 18 and he was 20 for political reasons. In the beginning, they did have slight inclinations towards each other, but because of miscommunications and not talking to each other about their insecurities, they grew apart. He had a childhood sweetheart that he felt obligated to, but FL thought that he loved the girl and decided to live apart from him. She took companionship with the SML (mainly platonic) and ML thought that she loved that guy so he didn't bother to hold on to her. He also stayed solitary. All they did when they were together was argue and fight all the 30 years they were married, until their deaths. After waking up with a second chance to relive their lives starting over again, they both thought that one had the other killed and vice versa. But that misunderstanding gets cleared up pretty early on. The rest of the story is them working together to deal with court politics and to keep the same situations of the past life from repeating. They enter a marriage contract in this life, agreeing to split up later. However, this time around, since they retained their memories of 30 years ago, they're wiser mentally and are better at communicating and talking to each other, which eventually leads to them actually falling in love. There is a lot of back and forth bantering and unintentional flirting as they go through situations together. It's funny seeing ML reacting to SML when he gets jealous. Both ML and FL are great characters, really smart and independent. The past life was introduced briefly in the beginning and is brought up throughout in flashbacks. The main focus is their current life.

Someone posted the link to the novel in the discussion area up there. I'm reading the original version so I'm not sure how well it's translated in English.

There's a clip of fan cuts from trailers on weibo where he has a voiceover introducing himself as the younger brother of the Empress.

If the last shot of the ending credits is anything to go by, then she'll probably end up with the same person as she does in the novel.

Somehow, that incident with the mom didn't piss me off that much. I guess it's because I'm still aware of them as simulations and not real people so I don't have such a severe reaction to all the bad stuff done to them as NPCs. I don't mind all the crazy family drama because FL knows how to deal with them in return. That beat down was so satisfying 😏 She isn't one of those super nice pushover FL who only cries, but she does something about it instead. I don't think she's dumbed down either. ML does come up with ideas first (it seems because he has more experience), but FL always follows through on them cleverly while adding her own innovation. I'm loving the pacing, visuals, and all the background soundtracks are so good.

I heard novel readers of Destined weren't very happy with what he did to that story. I still need to read it to find out for myself.

The banter in the novel is so good between the leads. I'm nervous this scriptwriter won't do them justice.
