I disagree. I don't think there are better xianxia dramas than this in recently years. The script alone kills all the peers.

No annoying SML and SFL, instead they are all very likeable.
Rich background stories for villains and side characters.
No filters, no dragging, more than 80% screen time is given to the ML and FL.
Plot twist all the time.
Good balance between comedy and angst.
The best of all, the convincing character development of ML and FL along with the natural development of their relationship.

For me, script is everything. Good acting alone can not save a lousy script.

This drama has not only good-looking casts with decent acting, but also an excellent soundtrack, gorgeous set/costume design, movie like cinematography and top special effects in cdramas. All together, a wholesome package. That's why it is now the most talked drama on the social media in China.

A lot of XianXia fans are crazy about it, claiming finally there is one XianXia drama touching their hearts like in the good old days (referrring to 2005-Chinese Paladin1 and 2009 - Chinese Paladin 3, which brings the Xianxia genre to the main stream in China). Most of these fans are 30+. Sorry, it is not just a drama for teenage.

Till now, nearly all prediction by audience to the previous trailers were failed. They purposely edited these type of trailers to cheat the audience and create the discussion before the actual airing. So honestly speaking, I don't think DF will really sacrifice XLH, more he is scheming on sth bigger. High chance CH joined it as well.

And the distribution of the rating is a clear F shape, which means a lot of 5 and 4 stars and a few 3 to 1 star. If the distribution is a C shape, that drama is most likely only hyped among fans of certain actor or actress, since the rating will be with a lot of 5 stars from the fans and a lot 1 star from the haters. The shape of distribution is a very clear sign for the industry to judge if the drama is real popular among commoners.

On douban, above 7 is considered to be a reasonable good one. Not to mention, it's an idol/xianxia drama, which in general gets lower rating comparing to those more serious dramas.

She can feel the aura on site from plants and other beings. She did not sense the same aura as among the widows in the moon tribe, which is kind of true. Her clan did not die from the war between the two realms. And her parents purposely erased her memory, which prevents her from over sorrow and leaves her no hatred. It was a very very kind hearted clan. The scriptwriter has sound logic.

The ring and the hair pin is just to block thoughts and feelings. It could not block physical damage or wounds. It shows, in some early eps, that even with the ring and the hair pin, DF still got cuts when XLH got hurt. This physical torture can affect DF.

I have not watched the other two hot dramas yet, but from what I gather here is that there are people starting to watch this after they were disappointed for whatever reason from other dramas. I guess there will be similar posts under the other drama pages to declare how they start that drama and love it after they are disappointed by LBFD or other dramas. I kind of don't think this kind of posts are bashing. More how I start this drama type of posts. There might be real bashing posts here but, in my opinion, so far not that many as you mentioned.

Definitely a dark horse. It is said that nearly no sponsors in the beginning of airing. Then now half way suddenly a lot of ads on IQYI steaming of the drama. :-D. It's a IQIYI self production. IQIYI did not give much promotion before the airing, which also shows they themselves did not have much big hope on this drama. Not to mention all those negative predictions online.

Kind of like the answer to those comments in ep18: more body please. :-D

On the contrary, I enjoyed the moral world the most. Biggest character development there, especially for our SML.

I don't think it's about trust. He guessed roughly what it is. He just wants to feel the pain with her. It's his way to accompany.

The age does not match. Look at how old Danyin's dad is. More like sister. Highly likely the mother gave both to twins, but somehow one ends up in the hand of Ronghao.

Read through Douban posts. Saw some analysis of the black dragon and Jieli. The popular guess there is that the black dragon will die because of Jieli. The actor of Shangque hinted a bit on his weibo about betray and love. Then people figured out in the wrap up photo, Shangque actor is one of the few without costume, which hints his part ends earlier than others. Well, in ep25, Shangque told Jieli about the tradition of dragons to give the dragon scale and expose their great weakness to their beloved ones. Er.... Sounds so much like foreshadowing now.... Jieli is such a mysterious character. She is the one pushing all the plots in the moral realm, and she has that hair pin which mysteriously got lost in the palace of the moon lord. As a mere small shop owner, she has just too much to offer... I have a bad feeling about her and the dragon now.

Yes, and their logic is always: why FL did not do as ML said, she's stupid. ML is hurt, she is stupid.... The FL in this drama is a rare gem. In the ep25-26, she shines even more than the ML. Finally, a FL stands on her own, not a slave to the relationship. I wish to see more FLs out of the trope in the xianxia genre in the future!

Well said. It's funny to see FL to be called stupid just because she is not scripted as a tool to show off how brilliant and attractive the ML is. I love the character of FL. She has a big heart and a lot of love for the world, even if the world does not give her back the same level of love. Her love to the ML did not make her forget her stand. Very strong FL. So different from other FLs in those XianXia dramas. Same goes to the ML. He has a clear mind about his responsibility, even after he confirmed his love to the FL. I love ML and FL with principles!!!
