Have just seen some new stills of XLH and DFQC. Wondering if it’s the wedding night, why does XLH wear a green…
It depends on which ancient dynasties the set and costum desingers are used as reference. In this Drama, the set and costum in the mortal world is obviously similar to the Tang dynasty (c.a. 600 AD), when in the wedding the bride wore green while the groom wore red.

Watched some Chinese TikTok stuff. This show definitely had sad ending. They didn't adapt original novel ending…
I'm optimistic about the ending based on what I found on Bilibili though. :-D

Ahhh, that was good! I love the little romance between our leads. Their chemistry was so evident from episode…
There was a bit character background story about ML. He was persistent on the violence setting in the game at the beginning but during the resets, especially after he killed the bomber in one of the loops, he realized he was wrong about violence against violence and made peace with his friend. This is the character development of ML. Yes, there is little background story about FL but the drama showed her development in a subtle way. At the end interrogation with the witnesses, she gave such a strong vibe of Captain Zhang. :-)

Unfortunately there are enough real life cases like this. It's stupid but it is very realistic. It is a slow process. Those rage and devastation drive victims become criminals. Sadly it is nothing new.

sorry but the parent’s reasoning is stupid as hell. why is the mom blaming the dad for not picking up like he’s…
She said we are both murders right after that. My understanding is that she talked to her husband but it is actually also to herself. I think a lot of things missed in translation, especially the comments and reactions of netizen online. The death moment of their daughter was leaked and made into video with funny music for laugh. The comments were all curses and bashes like she should die, trash etc. The husband comforted the wife, that she still has students, who could be their kids. Then these kids shared the video and joined the commenting right in front of her. During their own investigation, the police and the bus company just wanted to get the case closed asap. Nobody on board cared to help and give any info. Back then, if anybody on board could step out to stop the molester or helped the bus driver to constrain their daughter from grabbing the steer wheel, the death could be avoided. Ep 13 and ep 14 are disclosing the process how the couple turned their hatred slowly towards the general public, the indifferent society. For them, nobody is innocent in the end. Their mindset is of course wrong but the portrait of the couple makes it understandable at least for me. The acting of the couple is top notch. I can feel their sorrow, regret, hatred and desperation so well.

Plot hole. They were able to save the officers number and stayed after reset. Technically shouldnt have been there..
You don't need to save the number, just memorize it. Your momery is kept in the loop. Just a few digits. It's not that hard.

It's rare to see a serious Chinese drama like this in this genre.
Actually there are quite some nice thriller/crime or slice of life cdramas but most of them never reached the international market which obviously prefers more romance genre.

You are right. It is a good point. Reminds me of one rumor: the golden hairpin, the hugely invested drama starring Yang Zi and Kris Wu, which was planned for the summer release will be canceled because of the recent scandel of Kris Wu, Tencent might push one BL drama to this empty slot. Another rumor is that a lot of CP fans reported in the last few days that their weibo account was hacked. One cp fan said her account suddenly posted over 20 messages under various super topics with trouble inviting contents. There are definitely something going on there.

... The logic.... Because these fans participate something, we need to attack back their artists, to drag the rating of their drama is hence reasonable, not problematic and crazy?

Any human with brains knows the result of those public statements, yet they still do it, which sounds more like something planed to stir the water purposely. So many Fandom wars seem to be "created" deliberately. Everyone claimed it was the other side started first. Nobody can tell the true identity of the one who started everything.

What scared me most is not all these conspiracies, but the mindset of fans from both sides. No wonder there are so many Fandom wars. It is just so easy to manipulate them. And the worst part is that they always drag the work of artists along with it. I don't care about any Fandom wars, but please leave the drama or film alone.

Agree, the actors are awesome. I wonder what was the real reason to ban the actors to appear together. Luckily they both do well in their career now, especially Johnny.

Addicted is the first BL drama in China. Before that time, web dramas had nearly no censorship restrictions. With so many explicate contents, the internet, especially the young people, were crazy about it, which caught the attention of the authority. The drama was banned after airing 16 episodes. Actually I was curious about how it will go in Ep17, because if they followed the novel closely like the early 16 eps, ep17 will contain the rape scene. In the novel, one ML actually forced the other ML in their first ***. This part in the novel did make me uncomfortable. I had no idea how they would put it on the screen. Well, now nobody knows.

that second article is published on 2016. I doubt its reliability. If it is true, so many popular cdramas after 2016 we knew (not only BL dramas) should not be broadcasted at all.

The first article has nothing to do with BL genre specifically. Basically it is a measurement to force the production team to invest more on the scripts.

sorry. Better check your source. This so called Rules from March is from year 2016. If it is true, there will be no The Untamed, no WOH, no Immortality and all other BL dramas on the wait-for-broadcast list.

is it true that the censorship in china is getting more strict bc of WoH?? T____T
Don't think so. Immortality passed the first round censorship checking and got its broadcasting license long time ago. It was Tencent who wanted to avoid WoH's promotion period at the beginning and put Immortality to their head page for best promotion which requires an extra second round censorship checking. This process dragged till S3. Unfortunately S3 of 2021 in China is reserved for all kinds of political related dramas because it is the 100 year anniversary of CCP. Let's see. If we are lucky, we might see Immortality in S4.

That's the difference between the big budget/high expectation dramas like immortality and low budget dramas like WOH. The platform Youku did not expect WOH to be a hit, so they did not even try to get it on their header page. They got the first round license and they rushed to release it asap. Now everybody says, it is just fate. If Youku did not release it so fast, it will end up like immortality.

Major respect for this drama showing a main couple that argue, learn, and grow together and are actually HAPPY…
You could go through some youtube videos from AvenuX and others to find the detailed answer. The simple answer is to avoid the censorship. The censorship does not allow HE for BL dramas. All BL dramas in China till now are either BE (Guardian) or Open Ending (The Untamed). Till ep36 it looks like OE but actually it is HE ( a lot of videos on youtube explained it in more details). Youku put the obvious happy ending in the Easter Egg clip which dose not require to be censored to fulfill the strong requests from the fans and of course earn some extra cash. :-)

He is known as one of OST kings in China along with Hu Xia ( the one sings Wu Ti for WOH), Mao Buyi, Zhang Jie etc. In the passing year, he probably sung over 14 OST songs for all kinds of cdramas (read this info somewhere, might not be 100% accurate but it is definitely over 10).
