I saw comments which complain this drama is too extreme and dramatic at portraying parents. But the truth is , that the reality is sometimes even more dramatic than the drama...

Anyway, I think LX was half way out already. The moment he talked with his dad about his sister indicates that he finally wanted to put the guilt down. I'm optimistic about his full healing. As for CT, it will be harder but it might happen as well, I hope. :-)

Yes, it is really sad. The sadder part is that the company actually did not reveal his condition. It was his parents who, after saw the result of health screening, went to his company to argue because they could not accept that their son has mental health issues. Then everyone knew. The company had to let him go under the pressure... He's a very capable man in his area. The company actually wanted to keep him...

I really loved this drama and all its characters. They're not one dimensional and clearly have many flaws. They…
LX's dad actually really wanted to help his son. But as a policeman, he saw too many cases like this which did not end up well. he know how other people will look at LX and treat him differently once his condition is revealed to the public. It is sad but unfortunately it is very realistic because in China till today a lot of people still see people visiting a psychologist as mentally insane. A former colleague of my family member lost his job because of this. The scary part is that with this medical record he could hardly find any decent job in his professional area anymore unless he totally switches his career... So I totally understand why LX's dad acts like that...

Another question I've been pondering about one of the episodes. Why do you think the director put the scene in…
Nope, it is not a filler. In the last few episodes, all screen time are given to HZQ, QMY, TC, even ZB. And in the storyline of LX and CT in theses eps, more than half of the screen time is given to CT, there are not much direct shots about how LX feels and struggles through it together with LJJ. This scene helps indirectly telling us how mentally unstable LX is now and how LJJ helps him. Honestly if it is taken away, the ML and FL are very much left out in the ending. And it is also a continuation of the scene of their first sleeping (noun here) together in one of the earlier episodes.

I think c-drama is the best in producing slice of life stories and fantasy series. Go Ahead 10/10 rating for me.
You should try criminal cdramas. There are quite some gems in this genre. Unfortunately not so many are translated and generally not so notieced by international audience. Recommend The Bad Kids on iQiYi. Family+thriller+murder. One of the best cdramas in 2020.

I think SWL is generally considered as the post 95 generation. The article "rising post 95 chinese actors to look out for" introduce him and his competitors. The link is on this page. ZXC is one generation up in terms of actor tier. Anyway, as you said he still has a lot of room to grow. Working with ZXC and TSY helps a lot.

I'm half way through and I love it. However, I have to say I have a hard time not comparing Weilong and steven's…
Yes, in terms of acting skill and the ability of empthy, ZXC is above SWL. But I also know it is unfair if you compare two actors with different age, experience and educational background. It is like to say that the acting of Li Papa actor is the better than ZXC. It is the fact but does not make much sense. I think ZXC and SWL both contributed some acting better than in their last projects.

I think the ability of empathy also has something to do with the storytelling of the writer. HZQ has the most complete storyline while LX storyline is very fragmented and incomplete. I thought the last few episodes should be with more character development for LX and JJ but it totally skipped it. LX only showed up for minitues. The interaction between LX and JJ was very briefly. I hope there are at least few more episodes to explore the character of LX and JJ when they faced the hardship together. If the character does not even have the necessary screen time, how could we expect the actor to fully bring out the character. Anyway, I think all actors and actresses did some really good job. They are all great. :-)

I find the adult older brother displeasing, especially when he snuck a kiss to his sister(not blood related),…
If you goes with the story to the later part, you will see more of the hidden side of this character, the darker side. He has a strong tendency of depression (who wouldn't after living 9 years with that type of mother) and carries a heavy burden of guilty. JJ is the only sunshine in his life. If something triggers him, his possessive and aggressive side will emerge. Only JJ can calm him.

Some people might say this kind of relationship is not healthy. It is true but it is real and logic in the drama. It is a drama about healing. JJ is his cure. I also think no other girl except JJ can fully understand him, see his dark side under his perfect cover and wholeheartedly accept him. I like the message here: people suffering from depression need and deserve love. Unfortunately the drama did not explore this relationship deeper. I wish they could have at least two more episodes about this couple.

Anyway, I'm actually delighted to see that there is finally this kind of main character in cdrama land because the lead characters in a lot of modern cdramas are so near perfect. I want to see more this kind of gray characters.

Yeah, I dropped it around ep 14 when the incest vibes got too creepy. The first 10 episodes were really good.
If LJJ and HZQ end up together, I might freak out as well. But LJJ and LX are neighbors, their story is just a childhood sweatheart romance story, nothing creepy for me. :-)

I was a bit worried when HZQ started to show interest on JJ, but then in just one or two episodes, the issue was cleared. It turns out he is actually more interested in being a legal family member than a romantic partner. :-) The writer is really good at playing us.

personally, i don't mind the romance, it felt like for me their bond/feelings for each other has been the same…
Yes, talking about special relationship, the bonding between the ML and FL is the most special one. It differs from the one between the FL and the second ML from the very beginning. The moment when the kid FL met the kid ML with brightened eyes at the beginning of ep1, I knew there will be romance between them. And the way, how their love naturally boomed, did not disappoint me.

It would be much better if there is no romance and they go with 3 non blood related siblings treating each other…
kind of disagree. I don't think so called family love should leave out the romantic love. After all, a family is set up by husband and wife with their love. People often say marriage is basically the slow process of turning romantic love into family bonding. In this drama, ML and and FL is the other way around and their love never degrade their bonding with each other and with other family members.

I also want to know why. Did they alternate the ending or simply shorten the duration to add into new episodes.
It is a common tirck for TV channels in China. If a drama gets popular, they recut each episode shorter to extend the broadcasting time. Pretty much 10mins overview of last episode +30mins new contents. For them, longer broadcasting time means more money from advertising. Mango TV is nutoriously for this.

this are any drama similar to this?
I did not find anything similar in the drama land yet. But if you are fine with 3D animation, I would recommend this new Dong Hua: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENep6gJC5SQ. It is also an adaptation from a BL novel with fantasy elements like Mo Dao Zu Shi. BTW, the voice actor of one of the MLs is Bian Jian, the voice actor of Lan Wang Ji. :-) And the voice of the other ML sounds so much like Lan Si Zui. Such weird cross-over feeling. :-D

Title The Untamed
any series similar to this? doesn't have to be BL but something nice about cultivation and martial arts
The genre of Xian Xia or Chinese fantasy are very much of two big groups in terms of major readers/watchers: for boys and for girls. I'm not saying all but most of Xian Xia novels/dramas for girls have a strong focus on romance. They are generally well received. You can start with some high rated series like Eternal Love (Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms), Eternal Love of Dream( Pillow book), Love and Destiny, Ashes of Love etc.

If you are not into romance so much, I would recommend Xian Xia for boys, like Ever Night S1, Fights Break Sphere S1, etc. They focus more on the growth of ML from zero to hero. Honestly speaking, if you are looking for cultivation and martial arts, you should really check out Ever Night S1. The fighting scenes in EN is widely regarded as one of the best TV fighting scenes in the last few years. very powerful and manly fighting, with a strong vibe of HK Kong Fu movies in their old golden time.
