Who were the 30+ MDL users that collectively rated this C-drama only a 7.8 yesterday (on the 1st day of its release) & WHY?
Here are some possibilities:
1) They are bad people. 2) They have bad taste. 3) They have dyscalculia. 4) They hate CY. 5) They are time-travelers & have seen the ending (in their timeline).
This is not an exhaustive list, by any means. Feel free to add to it if you have additional ideas.
1) Well, no one asked you to read (& reply) either.
2) I don't need anyone to ask me. I can read or not read whatever I please.
3) Last but not least, I wasn't even referring to your post. I was referring to the original post written by @yd1010 (although I honestly didn't read yours either).
Feel free to check the vertical line connecting my "tldr" post to @yd1010's OP for yourself. Notice that my reply shares the same (vertical) line as your "What is even the point of saying this here?" response to the OP.
So these episodes are daily...? i'm just asking as a non c-drama watcher... How do you guys keep up if you watch…
I can't speak on behalf of other c-drama watchers because, as hard as it is for some non c-drama (especially k-drama) watchers to believe, we don't all think & act alike. But I guess I personally don't get overwhelmed because I don't waste time going around to random non c-drama comments sections asking dumb questions.
That's the whole point. The OP didn't come here to discuss the drama, she came here to just to let us mere mortals know that this drama isn't worthy of her highness.
She herself barely watched the drama (only 1 episode) & even admitted that she hadn't seen enough to give a fair rating. So why the fanfare?
We all drop dramas. But who among us, except for those suffering from delusions of self-grandeur, would come here to tell people they don't know & don't know them that they're dropping the dramas (especially after only one episode)?
Where's the discussion? Where's the constructive criticism?
I have no idea what the deleted comment said. But I doubt whoever wrote it deserved to be called a b!tch.
If the OP indeed has had "well over" twenty years of experience watching Asian dramas, then she must be a grown-@$$ woman who should've developed higher EQ by now. At very least, she should know better than to throw misogynist insults around so casually.
Just curious if you read Wei Yu's works in their original Chinese? Or translation?
No, it's ok. I don't want to trouble you. I just wanted to know if it was available for future reference. Right now, I'm nowhere near the reading level for novel comprehension.
But have you read a lot of other Chinese novels adapted into dramas? Which ones would you recommend (for their literary value)? Again, just noting for future reference.
Not to mention, ratings often say more about the raters than the dramas themselves.
Among other things, it's hard to take seriously a rating system that allows its users to rank episodes prior to their release.
And don't get me started on the blatant pro-kdrama & anti-cdrama biases.
For some reason, they all came back to rate the drama around the same time. So the drop makes perfect sense.
Here are some possibilities:
1) They are bad people.
2) They have bad taste.
3) They have dyscalculia.
4) They hate CY.

It's interesting how MDL & its ratings work. Its institutional biases are interesting, too.
I think the relative lack of romance explains most of it. But the time period, too.
It's neither ancient nor modern (post-imperial) China.
So no long flowing hair & hanfu. No Republican Era military attire & qipao. No contemporary business/casual or high fashion. No typical "visuals."
At this point, I'm fairly confident that I can write an AI algorithm that can rate dramas better than they can. It would be just as (un)conscious.

You're welcome.

It's unclear why MDL allows users to rate episodes that haven't even aired yet. Does MDL believe in time travel or something?
But have you read a lot of other Chinese novels adapted into dramas? Which ones would you recommend (for their literary value)? Again, just noting for future reference.
Thanks
again.
Maybe. Maybe not. But I won't say. Again, because unlike you, I try not to make it about myself.
