Can we please appreciate the effort, man the effort!!!!, that ZL put to make this such a grand wedding for TY. Just like he promised her in the past. And to make it all "right" for her in terms of honoring traditions and formalities. And how he fought to have her family (except crazy father) there for her. And his bond with brother-in-law (the poor guy 😫).

Looks like a real conflict.

At the start, I was kinda okay with Mrs Yu - she's intelligent, resourceful, masterful in maneuvering things. But now, I just hate her. Because I realized that, yes she is human and she cares for her family, but she is also evil. Evil enough to aim to destroy TY's life simply because her useless son did not get an official post he never really deserved. She is heartless about everyone else outside her family. Her family must always be ahead and everyone else are just pawns - so-called friends, other
noble families, the servants, and even the emperor. She will time and time again use a women to control her son. The one think that made her likeable for me in the past - her intelligence - now makes her seem like such a grotesque character.

I have a bad feeling about the emperor... Lord Wei pointed it out after the wedding. Despite giving his blessing for this wedding, he did not send any gift. And Monk Zhao was not present (are they allowee to?). And that comment of Lord Yu "that is hardly a compliment" or something about what the Emperor said to ZL and TY, that really bothers me...

Seeing TY's father makes Granny Fu seem like an angel (aside from the poison and forcing Lady Zuo to insanity). Because this guy is a piece of work. Has nothing to show for except his fake filial piety but expects a high-ranking position. His inflated ego can barely be contained inside his pea-sized brain coz for f*cks sake he thinks ruining his daughter's reputation will bring honor to his family? He's violent, has major control issues and is just plain pathetic.

Okay, I wasn't ready for all the shy smiles and puppy-love stares these 2 would have after finally getting "formally" engaged. Too cute and too sweet!
