I'm all for them retiting to the countryside after getting rid of the Yu fam because they would stop at nothing to bring down ZL and TY even if they leave the capital and officialdom. But that aside, I see that power and life at the capital is slowly destroying them. It feels like they cannot be themselves anymore, both TY and ZL, because they are always on guard, always reading the situation, always vigilant. That's exhausting.
So if leaving it all behind gives them back their sanity and their passion for their life, I'm all for it. Because power is only as important as it's use to them.
DYX is really killing it in The Road to Splendor! I love how he's portraying the transformation of Zhao Ling from salt merchant to high-ranking official, from carefree and unpolished to this hardened, and somewhat cold character. 👏👏👏
