It was never about power for the sake of power nor money for the sake of money. It was always about protecting TY and his brothers. He understood quickly that he needed power to protect them from more powerful people like the Yu family. And until now, that is still his motivation. What changed him is not the power or money that he has now, what changed him was the war and all the hardship he had to face to survive and climb up the ranks. It's not about protecting the status that he has now, it's protecting the one he loves using his status. And TY is someone he loves and respects above everyone else. Whatever difference in opinion ZL and TY may have, they always try to find a middle ground. And even when they can't agree on everything, they always have room for understanding each other even if the road to that comes with some arguments. They are a couple and understanding and listening goes both ways. It's not just ZL giving way to TY or just TY giving way to ZL. It's compromises and meeting halfway.
