I’m enjoying this drama but with only 2 episodes left it appears that they’re not going to smoothly wrap up this storyline by the 10th episode.
Usually filming a second season of a series depends on the success of season one. With the number of viewers on Channel A being around 0.2% will they proceed with the rumored second season? Will it ever be broadcast even if they film it? At this point it looks like a financial loss.

Subjective judgements inherently involve feelings. Subjective judgments are based on personal opinions, emotions, beliefs, and preferences. How can ratings NOT involve feelings???
The emotional experience is a major driver behind how people rate a drama. Subjective enjoyment, emotional connection, identification with characters, and extreme feelings all affect how a person rates a drama.

I don’t think you understand my point. I’m talking about the average lower ratings on MDL relative to the same drama’s rating on other platforms. For some reason during 2025 the early ratings for most dramas became much lower on MDL than they are on other platforms. Some people decide whether or not to spend their precious time watching a drama based on early ratings. The early ratings on MDL seem to no longer reflect popular opinion.
My point is that in the past on MDL people could rate each episode just as they do now, but the difference is that in the past the collective or average MDL ratings aligned somewhat with the ratings on other platforms. Something must have happened in the past several months to cause the disconnect between early ratings on MDL and early drama ratings on other platforms.
Also, I’m confused by your statement “These are TV shows and people are involving their personal feelings. No one should be upset about a rating for a TV show.” First you say ratings involve personal feelings and then you tell people how to feel— to not be upset about a rating.

But those few people on MDL who do rate each episode of a drama are rating lower than popular opinions elsewhere.
Why are some people on MDL so impatient that they rush to get their negative opinion recorded by the second day of the drama’s release? Why do they no longer give dramas time to develop the plot?
LOL, why are people mad at the rating?I mean you can question it. Sure! But to be upset is mind boggling.People…
Currently this show is ranked 4th in US Netflix tv shows, and within the top 5 shows in many other countries. It is rare for a Korean drama to rank so high on Netflix. Some people are confused about how the MDL rating and Netflix most popular ranking can be so far apart.
There seems to be a recent trend on MDL where popular shows start out being rated much lower than other places. In the past MDL ratings made a little more sense because they at least reflected popular opinions.
This may be a dumb question— is this a comedy? The trailer makes it look like a comedy but the genre tags here only list Historical, Mystery, and Romance which makes it sound serious.
I feel so sorry for you if this is one of the best that you’ve watched this year.
So far this year I’ve given two dramas a perfect score of 10: A Dream Within a Dream and Prisoner of Beauty. I’ve also given a score of 9.5 to The Best Thing, Resident Playbook, and The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call. So while I really enjoyed MDN it wasn’t in the top five dramas I’ve watched this year.
I would have given Head Over Heels a higher rating but during the second half the plot went downhill. Plus I didn’t care for Yeomhwa. She started out as a villain but later the screenwriter tried to give her a redemption arc that didn’t quite work. It’s so frustrating when a drama starts out good but then somewhere along the way the director and screenwriter forget what made the story enjoyable to begin with.

MDN was a simple rom com that didn’t pretend to be anything else and it didn’t loose its way in the last half like HOH did. But I wouldn’t categorize it as being one of the best dramas that I’ve seen this year.
This drama is refreshing and healing. It’s really too bad that it hasn’t gotten a lot of publicity or hype. It deserves to be watched by a large audience.
Douban and any other rating system can be manipulated by fans, bots, paid reviewers, and antis. The only sure way to know if you will like a drama is to start watching it yourself. It doesn’t matter what the drama rating is as long as you enjoy watching it. If you don’t like a drama then drop it. You’ve only lost a few hours of your time.
I was waiting for this for so long, but the reviews are so bad?! 😭
Don’t be discouraged. Watch at least a few episodes to see what you personally think about the drama. Don’t let the reviews here influence your opinion.

I totally agree with you that the larger number of episodes for cdramas make them much more interesting because they can take the time to add story depth and character development. The 12 episode kdramas are too superficial now, but even when they were 16 -24 episodes they lacked what the much longer cdramas have.
Thankfully the upcoming 12 episode limit is supposedly only a Youku thing so far. If the cdrama is produced for other platforms such as Tencent or Mango the limit doesn’t apply.

Then it’s the director and screenwriter’s fault that the drama was so poorly edited. A drama must stand on its own merits and make complete sense because most people don’t read the novel first.
It’s a good thing that OG aired on Youku now. Starting in 2026 Youku wants dramas to be no more than 12 episodes long. That will mean most cdramas will have multiple seasons.

Is the novel written from Yingtao’s point of view? I’m struggling a little while watching this drama because Yingtao seems to be the only fully developed character. The screenwriter appears to have forgotten about the other characters except for when they interact with Yingtao. She’s a realistic character but everyone else is just one dimensional.
The MDL listed genres for this show are misleading. Slice of Life and Drama should be added to the genres list because this show deals with some heavy topics like bullying and psychological trauma. Our Generation is not a fluffy light youth romance as the genre tags imply.
I’m only on episode 10 but parts of Our Generation strongly remind me of Go Ahead or the Korean version Family by Choice, except OG concentrates too much on their youth and doesn’t move on to their adult life quickly enough. It’s difficult to see any plot development or character growth when things get bogged down in just their difficult high school years.
