Is it nice , should I try watching it while it is airing >.
It’s a great drama. You will laugh, cry, and be frustrated while watching almost every episode. This drama is more complicated than many people realize. If you binge watch it you might loose some of the plot details and impact. This is a drama to be digested in small bites.
Long story short— try watching it as it airs and you can join in the discussion here. 🙂
cant believe that the director had to publish a literal essay to explain Yimengs character, 😳
So many people here misunderstand Yimeng and call her names. They’re so prejudiced against her that they’re ruining their own drama watching experience.
This drama is much more complex than many people realize. I hope the people attacking Yimeng read what the director wrote and take it to heart. This is a complicated drama that engages both your mind and emotions. The writing, directing, cinematography, and acting in ADWAD are all superb.
Tip: Learn to watch from both characters point of views before you come to stupid conclusions of ones character!…
Yimeng is not dumb like some people have been complaining about her. She just has limited knowledge. The viewers are omniscient (all-knowing and all-seeing) but she only knows what she’s read in the original script and what she’s seen the few times she’s been around NH.
Yimeng trusts Li Shiliu so I hope that after her initial shock of finding out he’s actually NH that she starts trusting NH too. I hope she starts to work with him instead of against him.
Ep 38 is going to cause so much drama. I'm worried about that ep now. How will the villainous script writer change…
I’m really curious about how we’re going to get from the heaviness of the original script in episodes 38 and 39 to the present day in episode 40 where the ML and FL actually enjoy each other. I hope it’s not going to be all conflict and tension up until the last few minutes of the final episode.
Up until episodes 21 and 22 this show was a good mixture of drama and comedy. When the mood got heavy there would be a comedic scene to lighten things up. All of that changed today.
I can’t remember anything funny happening in episodes 21 and 22. Or maybe I was just so triggered and traumatized by Yiting’s disgusting actions that nothing seemed to lighten my frame of mind.
But can you call her morally gray when in episode 22 this time around she drugged and tried to rape Li Shiliu?
To me morally gray means a mixture of good and evil. She became pure evil in my mind when she drugged someone and tried to rape him just to get her way.
She thinks she can do anything in order to get what she wants. She can’t possibly love Li Shiliu because she didn’t realize that NH was standing in for Shangguan He. But even if she did love him that doesn’t give her the right to rape anyone.
Arrgh! The only good thing about today's episode was Fugui trying to "test her".. Lol. I chuckled. NH's Uncle…
Just a few questions: could the uncle be the one who ordered the killing of the favorite empress back when NH was young? And could he be the one who kept the message from NH when CGH led troops into battle and needed reinforcements? That’s when CGH’s father was killed and it made the rift between NH and him even bigger.
I feel that the uncle is trying to isolate NH so he would be an easier target. The uncle definitely doesn’t have NH’s best interests in mind.
They really must have thought, "How can we stretch this show to 40 episodes by filling it with pointless scenes?"…
SYM is not idiotic or dumb. Viewers get to see the whole story unfold from both NH and SYM’s perspective but SYM has very limited information about NH. She’s only been in his presence a few times. She doesn’t know his motives and is only going off of what she read in the script and what she’s personally witnessed the few times she’s been with him. Same goes for NH. He doesn’t have the same info about SYM that the viewers have.
And remember what the actor’s agent said back in episode 1? One of the demands was to make the ML in the drama sympathetic to the viewers. That’s exactly what’s happening in the drama. Many viewers are on the side of the ML and think the FL is dumb or idiotic. They’re forgetting this is a play within a play. The screenwriter is manipulating the viewers reaction. Of course that’s what screenwriters always do, but this time it’s more obvious because it’s a plot point.
I’m satisfied with the pacing in this drama. If everything was wrapped up neatly in the first half then the second half wouldn’t be needed.
Of course you’re entitled to your own opinions about this drama. I just wanted to mention things from a different perspective.
I saw this clip a while back before I started this drama. Now that I’m watching ADWAD I’m obsessed with trying to put the puzzle pieces together to figure out how this drama gets to that ending.
bruh, there is literally no storytelling, what are you even talking about? The script has changed ages ago, yet…
What do you mean the script changed ages ago?
Did you watch episode 17? The script forced her to break her engagement and tell her father that she wanted to marry NH. She tried to resist and even covered her mouth but the script took control of her words and actions. (You could hear the typewriter so there was no question that it was the script.) That’s the same scene that she read in episode 1 and she was forced to perform it again.
Interesting info here.. so LYN was hired first, and no actresses wanted the role b/c the script/role was bad?
I’m trying to add a little clarity. The above info isn’t about the real life actor Liu Yuning and actress Li Yi Tong.
In episode 1 of ADWAD actor Nan Feng (played by LYN) was a popular actor who was hired for the lead role in the drama A Dream in the Past. The director and screenwriter catered to his every need during the meeting so it’s safe to say the drama was written for him. Former child actress Song Xiao Yu (played by Li Yi Tong) was picked by the director from a small pool of actresses. She’s not ambitious or assertive. The writer and director pretty much ignored her during the meeting because she’s much less important to the drama than the ML.
Watching Song Yimeng struggling is starting to get painful. How long are they going to drag this out? We're almost…
What’s the rush to have everything perfectly solved before the half way mark in a drama? For really good dramas it’s best to take the time to slowly experience them in order to fully appreciate and enjoy the story.
This drama isn’t fast food. It’s a complete feast. There’s no reason to hurry things along.

He is a true gentleman and was trying to protect the privacy of his ex wife and her child with her new partner (the child is not LYN’s).

On the official cast list here on MDL Liu Yu Ning is listed as playing Nan Heng / Li Shi Liu / Nan Feng
