And I completely agree with you about PTB. I loved Ji Sung's character and his child-like innocence. He was so sincere and honest with his feelings, and it was SOOOO refreshing! Everyone in that series was honest about how they felt, and it was such an enjoyable series to watch because of that.
While I didn't root for Jae Joong's character, I can't say I felt nothing for him. I liked his character because he kind of stirred up some good natured trouble and healthy competition for Ji Sung--which helped his character grow. I liked the somewhat sordid camaraderie between them.
Also, I really identified with Kang Hee in that drama. Especially when she told Ji Sung, "I don't know if I want to take care of you because you're like my child or if I like you as a man!" Right when she said that, I thought, me too! I can't decide!! haha! Such a good drama. (*^_^*)

I can acknowledge the argument that the "bad guy" needs the girl to make him better. But I just hate that it perpetuates the saying "nice guys finish last." HATE that saying. haha! I also think it's problematic because it generally sends the message that it's OK to take verbal and or emotional abuse from a guy, because, hey, maybe you can change him! And that is SOOO not true in most cases. Granted some series are more extreme than others, but it's those extreme ones where I can't accept that message. If a guy is treating you like sh*t, you shouldn't stick around and try to change him. I just don't agree with that. But a lot of these dramas send that message, which is why I'm such a nit picker.
This is also why when a drama like Queen Inhyun comes around, I just love it. It sends a positive message with Kim Bong Do being more desirable over Han Dong Min (the abrasive, cheating guy).

Yah, the dude in Greatest Love wasn't attractive to me either. Even without his arrogant, jerk-face personality. Plus his voice was nasal and his hair was like a helmet. If you're going to be a jerk, at least be a sexy-faced jerk like Lee Minho. Lee Minho always plays the same roles and I love him and hate him at the same time. "You're such a jerk but you're so dang hot!" haha
I watched the anime for Itazurana Kiss and it sounds equally horrific as the kdrama. And Hana Yori Dango was frustrating for me because I LOOOOOVED Rui (Oguri Shun). This is my other odd duck quirk. I almost always fall for the secondary nice guy over the lead guy, and thus am left high and dry because the lead girl NEVER goes for him. HYD was a prime example of the girl going for the volatile, difficult one over the "good guy." It killed me on the inside a little. MatsuJun DID change in the end at least.
I like this one but I prefer the actress who planned nana in the first filmed compared to ichikawa yui. Although…
I agree with you 100%. I couldn't stop thinking that I liked the first actress who played Nana Komatsu better as I watched this movie. But both movies were very well cast.
My issue with this movie is that it's pretty boring. The Honey and Clover manga is REALLY funny and feel-good, and yet poignant when it comes to relationships of love, friendship and also self-discovery. This movie missed the mark in a major way.

Hmm, I've never tried ignoring the characters before and focusing on the plot line. That's an interesting way to look at a drama. Maybe I'll try again, but I don't think I can do it. haha! That's pretty impressive that you can though!

They are super short, huh? Sometimes I'm OK with it. If the story line can be wrapped up in eight episodes, awesome! I just don't like it when a drama leaves me hanging and I'm looking around like, "Wait.... Is that it!!?!?" HATE that feeling. I think it's worse when a drama is 18 episodes or so long and you're STILL left hanging *cough cough* City Hunter *cough* Ahem, sorry, got something in my throat. haha!
I got interested in Liar Game because the premise sounded good. But then I watched one episode and didn't like the lead girl. Her character was supposed to be "trusting/naive" but to me she just seemed stupid. That's one of my pet peeves about dramas. I can't watch something with a stupid/weak or helpless lead female. But maybe I was wrong? Maybe I should have given it more time. Does she get better or change?
I know everyone loves this drama, but I didn't care for it. Hyun Bin was too much of an egotistical, evil jerk for me. Plus he was like a CRAZY stalker. I can't forgive men in Korean dramas when they talk down to women. I don't care how "good looking" or rich he is. There were moments that sparkled, yes. And I loved how strong Ha Ji Won was. But the romance angle was lost on me. He was way too mean and manipulative. That sh*t is NOT OK with me.
This was a really nice drama and I absolutely adore Kim Sun Ah. My only gripe about this drama is Lee Dong Wook's character. He had the personality of a piece of plywood. Would it have killed the writers to give the character, I dunno, some character!? He's very much like a zombie in this drama.
This drama was not very good. But Joo Sang Wook is one of THE MOST GORGEOUS men I've seen in a drama, ever! My mom even walked past, looked at my screen and was like, "Oh, he's attractive." haha!
This drama is cute but forgettable. The best things about it were Choi Siwon's face/body and when someone FINALLY sang "Sorry Sorry," because I sure was thinking it the entire drama. hahaha!
This drama is SO CUTE and well written! And I love how feisty and strong Shin Min Ah was in this role! My favorite part is when she kicks the mats to get Lee Seung Ki to fall over and into her arms! If I had a list for "top 10 favorite moments in a drama" that would be on there!!
My only issue is that the ending isn't cleaned up very well. Otherwise though, fun fun drama!
It makes me upset hearing other people's negative opinions on this drama because I absolutely loved it.
It's probably because people have different expectations when they watch a drama sometimes. This drama isn't groundbreaking or particularly original, but I just love it for being what it is! It was just cute and fun to watch.
This drama was so cute and fun! And the soundtrack is AWESOMENESS!! This is the only drama where, A) noticed the music, and B) downloaded the soundtrack and listened to it regularly. Is it the best drama of 2010?? Not at all. But it's a really quirky and lighthearted watch when you need that kind of drama in your life. :)
I hate to be one of "those people," but, yeah, the manga was waaaaaay better. haha! It's not nearly as funny as the manga, but it's a pretty decent adaptation. The one thing that I found interesting though was in the manga, I was "Team Sano," if you will. LOVED him in the manga. But in the drama, I hated Sano and loved Nakatsu! The kid playing him did a kick ass job! My recommendation though is to read the manga if you're willing. It's a fun read and better than the drama.

I like it a lot as well! It surprised me with how well-written it is. The acting is pretty impressive, too.
Hmm, yah, I can see where that'd be a problem. Kinda reminds me of this one drama I wanted to watch called Trick. It's a Japanese drama. I found the first four or so eps subbed online and I liked it, but since it's kind of old I can't find it streaming anywhere. Ah well.
I love his long legs. But is it just me or does he always play the same character? I've only seen City Hunter, Personal Taste and Boys Over Flowers, but he's basically the same character in all three--a semi-wealthy jerk with a chip on his shoulder. haha!
My nickname for this drama is "Sh*tty Hunter" haha! I finished it after contemplating dropping it almost a thousand times, and I wished I had, because the ending was a complete joke. I felt as if this drama couldn't decide if it wanted to be a serious, action-packed drama (like an Iris type), or if it wanted to be a kind of silly romantic comedy. It kept flipping back and forth between cliches for both genres. For me, it just didn't work. The drama and the characters in it take themselves too seriously for a plot-line and dialog that doesn't really support them. I did generally enjoy Lee Minho's long legs though. I think that's the only reason I finished it.
This drama is exceptional for me among Japanese dramas. When I watch a Japanese drama, I have different expectations compared to a Korean drama. By my observation, Japanese dramas are generally a little more starchy and stiff, and if it's a love story, it's definitely going to be awkward. But this drama wasn't like that AT ALL. It's the sexiest Japanese drama I've ever watched and I loved it! The characters are complex and interesting, and the actors do a wonderful job portraying them. It's also well written and smart with a meaningful message. This drama is in my top five fav's, hands down. :)
I have watched this drama twice because it is the first and only drama where I couldn't decide if I loved it or hated it. hahaha! There are some really great moments in this drama that I think are original and crazy entertaining. But then there are other moments that piss me off royally (mostly having to do with Lee Minho, whom I also have love-hate feelings for... damn his long sexy legs!!). It's a really sexy drama though. I'll say that much. And I love the setting of the house. It's gorgeous!
