Loved this drama a lot. My only qualm is that i feel like the writers tried so hard to keep us guessing up until the very end who taekyoung would choose that they ended up trading more taekyoung x shinwoo falling in love with each other moments for keeping us guessing. Like what was the point of ep 15 where they made us think taekyoung would choose da on or something. Either way im happy with his final choice and im happy with the ending. That scene with Mr. Seo though is still a mystery and i hope theyre teasing an upcoming drama about him. Im gonna miss namgung the most :((
Why exactly is Arisu as smart as he is? Theres never really an explanation for that other than that he plays games…
Also loved the inclusion of a trans character who is actually important and their trans identity isnt just some comedic plot point or something thats taken lightly and mocked like it often is in animes.
There is also a whole lot of unnecessary on screen dying, especially in the last episodes. Just people dying everywhere. It was pointless and just added gore for edgy points imo. Wasnt the biggest fan of those last two to three episodes.
Why exactly is Arisu as smart as he is? Theres never really an explanation for that other than that he plays games but those games didnt seem to necessarily have much to do with those he played in borderland. Also was anyone else so frustrated by how it didnt even cross their minds for like the first 5 episodes that they might be the ones who disappeared and not everyone else from tokyo and japan???? Like why were they saying shit like "That place might be where everyone disappeared/went to" š the ending really left us with so many questions still and that makes me excited for season 2 (im burning netflix down if they cancel it)
Im not one to cry much when watching movies or dramas but this show had so many heartfelt moments that made me shed tears, both happy and sad. I was going in thinking that there would be a whole lot more evil spirit catching but instead I there was a complex political conspiracy that just sucks you in and makes you feel as angry and frustrated as So Mun and others who were affected by it. The acting was phenomenal imo. The actors really embodied their characters. And damn so mun really knows how to cry contagiously. The chemistry between the counters and so muns friends and grandparents is so beautiful. There were many scenes where it seemed like they werent acting at all, just improvising with things they would actually say to each other.
This drama is very heavy on the evil side, good side thing though. The bad people are just bad because theyre bad and do bad things and there is not much of an explanation or reasoning as to why. Except for Ji Cheong Sin's and Hyuk Woo's daddy issues (which is honestly a really weak explanation for their behaviour). Also, So Mun suffers from what i like to call "male lead in shounen anime syndrome"... make of that what you will.
I thought the weird way that the monsters looked would take away from the drama but i ended up not really minding it. I really liked it although i thought it would be more horror than it actually was. Gory horror like this doesnt scare me as much as it disgusts me lol. They really took their time with letting us fall in love with the characters and giving us glimpses into their life pre-monsters. They had flaws but the writers did a good job at also making the audience empathize with them imo. I especially liked sang wooks character development. Really excited to see where this will head for season 2.
You are all acting like youāre a professional critic or The Academy member or something... even in the first…
Honestly, saying that this drama was made for laughs and giggles sounds like a bigger insult than most of whats being said in this comment section. Yes, there are comedic elements but when it gets serious you can tell the directors meant for it to be taken seriously. If Iām wrong and they didnāt, they did a really bad job at portraying it. Even if this show was supposed to be comedic in the acting, itās still not very funny unless they were like parodying someone or something. I definitely do think better acting and directing wouldve at least made this show less likely to be made fun of the way that it is. The story has a lot of potential despite being done before. āOveractingā is not really the best word to use to describe the bad acting going on in my opinion. The whole point of a site like this is for people to voice their opinion on dramas they watch, whether negative or positive @RoccoKitty. Can that be taken too far? Yes. But for the most part I donāt think it has. At least from what Iāve seen. And I wouldāve agreed with you on the ITSAY point until I scrolled down and saw how people were comparing it to ITSAY and realized they make a very good point.
Sky definitely acts like what he is, a spoiled bratty rich only child. A lot of his actions, while annoying to…
Also, whatās so great about Sun and Sky that has Toktaeng and Juno so whipped like that? Other than Sky saving them from pitch, I honestly canāt tell. I had a feeling Sky would use them they way he did though. What a piece of shit move :(
Sky definitely acts like what he is, a spoiled bratty rich only child. A lot of his actions, while annoying to us as the audience, makes sense for who he is. But it still makes for an unlikeable character. Whereās the character development?!?
Side note: that jump that sun did in this episode will def be made a meme I can already tellš the way I was ctfu. I thought I was watching a wuxia drama for a second there lmaooo
Really recommend this one to anyone who wants to watch a short, light, and sweet drama. I watched the first episode a while ago but decided to drop it cause it seemed like I would be watching the same thing Iāve watched hundreds of times before. And while it isnāt anything groundbreaking, it does make up for it with its charm and great acting and chemistry. Iām glad I decided to pick it up again. Also I fell in love with Chris lol. One qualm though was papersā character. Idk if itās just me but he came across as conceited and unlikeable for most of the show.
Well, I'm sorry that this drama wasn't your cup of tea, and because of that there's nothing else I can say since…
How is that ironic when I was referring to myself? It would only be ironic if I were to change or twist my OWN words. But letās not get into the semantics. I only apologized if my use of āfuckingā came across as rude.
Well, I'm sorry that this drama wasn't your cup of tea, and because of that there's nothing else I can say since…
Not you quoting what I said then paraphrasing it in the same breath only to twist the same words you quoted. As you already put in quotation marks, I said āmeaningsā not āimportanceā. But that last part wouldnāt make any sense if you had actually use what I said would it? Cause they didnāt explain the meaning. And I already clarified that I knew the importance. Hilarious.
Well, I'm sorry that this drama wasn't your cup of tea, and because of that there's nothing else I can say since…
Surprise! Yeah, I most definitely will take your comment however I like it just like you decided to take my comment however you like it. You mustāve joined the internet (or were born) yesterday if you think my comment is āhateā. And donāt make this out to be some sort of āfightā there was no āfightā. Just a bunch of unecessary nitpickyness and butthurt fans. You can keep your āpolitenessā to yourself next time. I donāt need it (or your life story for that matter cause I didnāt need that either). Ironic that you use āentitlement bubbleā as if both you and reply 1 didnāt expect me to change the way I express my feelings to coddle you. Next time Iāll be sure to comment something along the lines of āI donāt like such and such drama, but they tried their best of course so itās great! love it! Oh and such and such character wasnāt fleshed out very well but the actor is cute and they really tried hardš„°šā¤ļøā So I donāt accidentally hit a nerve with the likes of you again. Lesson learned! Good luck with your life. Hope you donāt reply.

I never said the first person had a problem with my comment. Either way I will not be changing a single thing. Youāre not entitled to people sugarcoating their words or the way they express their feelings to protect your feelings. Iām not big on beating around the bush. I would understand what you were saying if I was wishing death on the director for existing and directing this or something but I was doing nothing of the sort. Something coming across as rude is also entirely a personal opinion. And that feeling is amplified when itās something you like. If you agreed with me or didnāt like TU either, you probably wouldnāt find what I said as rude as you do now⦠but I digress. Anyways at the end of the day, I said what I said, I meant what I said, and I said what I meant.
This is how you all sound lol: Reply 1: ā Iām gonna clarify that everyone has a right to their own opinion even though thatās already established since this is a comment section on the internet so like duh. Oh, they like Word of Honor? Let me be very subtly passive aggressive and point out how I donāt like what they like and add lol at the end to make it lighthearted lolš since I canāt attack their opinion itself, Iām just gonna pick at the use of a single word that I only have a problem with cause it was used in this context. No one should use such a negative word to refer to anything about my favourite drama cause it makes me upset >:(ā
Person 2: āHow can anyone not like my favourite show? They must be so incredibly stupid they canāt understand it OR they didnāt REALLY watch it of course. There canāt be ANY other reason. Fellow die hard fan, donāt try to reason with this fool. Oh they like, word of honor? Just like fellow fan Im gonna emphasize how I didnāt like it either for no real reason. How does THAT feel TU hater?šā
You: āI donāt like that this person doesnāt like what I like and I donāt like that they put it so bluntly. Since I canāt attack their opinion Iāll just point out that their comment was rude like an objective fact. WITH OR WITHOUT CUSSING ofc because their explanation for using cuss words makes too much sense and I canāt use that against them anymore. Also I wonāt explain HOW itās rude, it just is cause I donāt like it teeheeā
I have a feeling Taekyung might not end up with either of them. The first scene of the first episode says something about a āfirst loveā that doesnāt necessarily mean they end up together up until that moment in that scene when they are 20. But there are 5 episodes left. A lot can happen in that time.
There is also a whole lot of unnecessary on screen dying, especially in the last episodes. Just people dying everywhere. It was pointless and just added gore for edgy points imo. Wasnt the biggest fan of those last two to three episodes.
