I read the Korean news and it’s not an investigation. It’s some random reporter who wrote an article saying KSH also has a separate single-member company. It’s not an actual investigation. I wish people would stop being so ignorant and just follow these baseless rumor-mills. Single-member companies are very common, and it’s to legally keep taxes and other liabilities separate from theater, acting, management, etc activities. It’s all legal and nothing is wrong with having them, and many people who run their own business have them. And of course it makes sense to create a SPE (single-purpose entity) in between contracts. This is to make sure that you DO legally account for taxes and meet your obligations and liabilities. I am an attorney and to hear people talk so ignorantly on these topics without facts or knowledge of the law is just mind-blowing. In fact, the Korean Tax Association came out and slammed the news outlets for characterizing legal tax savings structures as some type of illegal tax “evasion.” Every one has the right to save on taxes through legal means, this is a legal right of every citizen. What do you think tax exemptions you write off during tax season are?? Just because you utilized ways to maximize your tax benefits doesn’t mean you broke a law. I normally don’t go off like this about legal stuff, and I’m not even a CEW or KSH fan but it’s just infuriating watching people do “witch hunts” over rumors and false information.
This drama is so good! I couldn’t believe they ended it in 12 episodes! It kills me how that industry works. Some boring dramas languish on for 30 episodes while really good ones end in 12. It could have at least gone on to 18! At least! I hope they make a Second Season. It felt so rushed and so many unanswered questions.
He is such an underrated actor. Loved him in Oh No! Here comes trouble. Very versatile with great screen presence. Will be starting his Netflix drama soon (although it’s looks tragic so I’ve been putting it off), maybe I’ll watch Hello Ghost first. He makes good film/drama choices so I am sure it’ll be good. By the way, anyone else think he looks like He Yu? I sometimes get confused between the two of them.
So glad to see Seven’s new drama. She’s such a talented actress with a lot of versatility. I like her better in modern dramas but I’m down to see her in this fantasy piece.
I agree, the modern guy is not Lin Yan, maybe a reincarnation but not a transmigration like SSG. SSG was the only “real” one in the modern world. Reincarnation are not the same ppl even if they have memories of their past life. They already have a present life and who knows who this modern “Lin Yan” is.
Just like many other dramas that lose their spark in the second half, this one wasn’t an exception. After ep…
I agree 100%. It’s like the writers decided to make an entirely sadistic choice about Lin Yan. And I agree, the entire first 20 episodes was about who their ancestor is and then they just resolved it with a footnote. And no one remembered anything so what was the point of the journey?? Not a good ending, both from an emotional angle and from a practical story telling perspective
In my opinion, as far as the final episode is concerned, the makers did the best they could with the restrictions…
I don’t think they needed to be so sadistic with LY for the censors. That was by choice, a sadistic choice. Because nothing in the Chinese censorship require misery as a prerequisite to a time travel drama ending.
Finally watched the last episodes. I don't like the kind of endings where they meet again in modern times and…
There is some merit to this theory. I did think it was weird how easily he was able to grasp modern concepts she told him so quickly. For example, the dishwasher. She noted how he was able to make one just being told once about it. He is smart but if you’re 1000 years removed from it you just wouldn’t even be able to get the concept. So I wondered about that. If your theory is correct and that was just in his subconscious then it would make sense. Whatever helps me ease the heartache I feel for Lin Yan.
I know I should stop venting but I am so annoyed at this drama. I literally stopped watching Fated Hearts and started this thinking it was a light happy drama. And then this one turns out to be the one with the most tragic ending where the entire family is massacred in a fire and the ML is left longing for them his entire lifetime. WTH. I need to go back to Fated Hearts so I can feel happy again.
They only get together in episode 31. Before that, only 2 kisses, but she considers it a "sin" because…
Well said! I couldn’t have said it better! I totally agree. A sadistic choice is the perfect way to describe what they did. I feel heartache coming on for LY again after reading your comment. Omg, what a poor soul. I feel like we should translate your comment into Chinese and send it to the writers.
Scriptwriter has a nice start, some refreshing idea to work with, and even a nice cast but end up doing it unjust.…
Agree! So anticlimactic. The writers forgot the whole purpose of the story. We watched to find out who the real ancestor was for 30 episodes and the reveal was SO lame. What was the point/focus of the whole story then?
I dislike the ending so much I’m just going to have my own interpretation of it. I’m just going to assume that there was no transmigration and there was a real SSG who was engaged and married to LY, and she and her family died in a fire. Overcome with grief, LY imagined this story about her in the hopes that he will meet her again in the future. His enduring love and hope transformed into a spirit in the form of the butterfly and when BOTH Lin Yan and SSG reincarnated thousand years later, the butterfly reminded them of their everlasting love. So when they woke up they “found” each other again. For me, this feels more digestible and less unfair to LY. After all, in life our loved ones can die anytime and there is no guaranty that they will live a long time with us. They could die of an accident or illness. So to me, at least this makes me feel like less unfair and just an inevitable part of life. Sad but less unfair to LY.

See, I just don’t get it. Why do Cdrama writers and directors insist on shoving their sweet moments in one episode, and then rushing the ending? It’s like they spent all this time building up to what the audience expects to be a relief when the main couple finally get together. But it’s always a let down because they focus more on the buildup but then they just wrap up and finish it so quickly. What was the waiting worth? There were so many episodes that could have been shortened to add in at least one or two more episodes of their happy relationship. It’s like you building up for a big birthday party for weeks, planning and waiting and ordering the food, buying the presents, decorating, inviting friends and all of the anticipation. But the party ends up being rushed and finished in 10 minutes. How would you feel? The point is that we want to enjoy all the buildup that was made, to see the results of the buildup and revel in that.
To me, it’s not the best ending. It’s kind of not fair to Lin Yan right? He is the only one who reincarnated. She is the same person. LY is the only one who had to live out the rest of his life alone, remembering what he once had and lost - he himself said that it’s sadder to have and lost then to never have had at all. I say this again, reincarnation is not the same as the actual person. Here, SSG is the same person and LY is a reincarnation. It doesn’t matter whether he remembers his “past life.” For SSG it’s not a past life but an actual real life that she lived and loved through but for LY it’s just a memory of something that didn’t actually happen to him because he is a reincarnation. Seems kind of unfair and wasn’t necessary.
They could have lived a long happy life in ancient times and found each other again after they both reincarnated. Love that transcends time isn’t beautiful only just because somebody suffers and is tragic. It can be just as beautiful if they’ve overcome hardship together, lived and loved together for a long time with happiness. To me, that type of love is just as beautiful. Cdrama writers need to get out of this tragedy mindset. This is why their endings always suck.
