People in the comments who are unsure about starting this because of the age gap and everything please just go…
I agree. It's not a "love" story. It's a story about two human beings. You have to watch it to see. I think there was way too much press about that issue before the drama came out but since then it hasn't been an issue at all. Besides, over the years there have been so many "Ajumma and younger man/boy" dramas, I think we can let this one Ajusshi drama pass.

What do you mean? This kind of performances is one of the best an actor as young and as experience as her can…
I definitely agree with you. I think IU is playing Ji-Ahn to perfection. Ji-Ahn is supposed to be a subtle character. That's why when Ji-Ahn does speak, or raise her voice, or look directly at you, you pay attention, you listen and you care. The character is meant to be played subtle and quiet. I think IU is doing a fantastic job. I can't imagine anyone else playing this role. Anyone else would be too dramatic and strong.

hi guys, i just started watching and the writting as expected is really good, but even though i do not hate IU…
I have to disagree. No offense, I respect your opinion. I've never been a fan of IU but I think she's killing it here. She's amazing. I think Ji Ahn SHOULD be played subtly and not dramatically. She is quiet and observes everything and conveys a lot through her eyes. She has dull eyes that has pretty much accepted all the bad in life. But when she is feeling emotion they light up with anger, unshed tears, admiration or loneliness. And because she is a subtle character, when she does speak or raise her voice and threaten someone or show any small emotion, you pay attention, you listen. You take it seriously. To me, that's the beauty of Ji-Ahn's character and I think IU is playing it to perfection. I cannot imagine any other actress playing this role but her. Everyone else would have just too much.

I find the poster for this really funny. Because this drama is actually a bit dark. We're talking about the two leads who have lead miserable lives - one more obvious than the other. But other than that little snippet - this drama is amazing. Great acting by IU (didn't think she could pull it off but damn she is such a badass in this drama. I want every female characters to be written this way! And Lee Sun Gyeun - not a fan but he acts the hell out of this role. They're both amazing! As well as the rest of the cast. Story is so simple but so relateable and well told!
Definitely one of the best of 2018. I put it up there with Signal.

This drama is SO terrible. I can't believe the ratings. It's confusingly written, the best parts of the drama (the ones they entice you with in the trailers) are only in flashbacks, hard to follow chronology and the main leads are annoying! What? I love Sun Yi and Elvis Han as actors. What happened here? Don't believe the reviews. If you don't believe that it's terrible, just watch the first episode. Had such great potential and they killed it. I was waiting for this drama since they first released the trailers. I was patient. I was hopeful. And I am so disappointed. WTH.

This poster they have here is SO misleading. One would think this drama was a rom-com. LOL! Hahaha...... sigh...

Is it just me or does he look just like Fukushi Sota from tomorrow I will date yesterday's you?
They look similar, but he is a much better actor than Fukushi Sota. No offense to any FS fans. I don't think I've ever seen more than two expressions from Fukushi Sota.

Love the casting. I love that in J-Dramas they try to keep the ages of the actors pretty close to the age of the characters. I really appreciate that. I wish K-dramas would be more like that instead of just reusing popular actors even if they are like 10 to 15 years older than the characters they play. And can we say... Taishi! Yeay, he's everywhere these days and it's great!

I actually first saw him in LDK years ago and my first impression was, "wow, really attractive guy and he's pretty good." Fast forward a few years and I see him again in Your Lie in April, and I think wow, this actor's really pretty good. I didn't put the two actors together as being Yamazaki Kento. When I found out, I was pretty impressed because I felt like he nailed the role of Arimae in Your lie in April.

Since then, I've watched pretty much all of his movies and dramas I could get my hands on (and most of his YT clips ;). He's so talented and is very promising. I love that he picks interesting and varying roles. My fave so far is his role in One Week Friends. I wasn't sure if I'd like it, but first few minutes of his acting in OWF and I was like, this is definitely Yamaken's BEST role to date. He just owned that character. He's so fantastic!

I'm so glad you are dedicating this Stalker page to him. I really feel like J Movies and J Dramas are on the rise with the help of young talent like Yamaken, Jun Shison and Nakagawa Taishi (and that's just naming a few of the boys!). I hope we can see more posts for Japanese dramas and movies!

Does anyone know what's going on with this drama? I heard something about a lawsuit?? Is that why the release date keeps getting pushed back? I've seen clips of the episodes online though.

I'm really liking it! And I don't care what anyone says, I love Ying Zheng and he has AMAZING - all-the-panties-are-dropping chemistry with Gongsun Li! I love Zhang Bin Bin and Dilraba together! This is going to make me watch Pretty Hui Zhen just for the pairing (even though we know how that one turns out). Unlike the Korean version where I shipped the girl with the main lead, of course I ship Dilraba with Zhang Vin!

Binged the first 12 episodes, and honestly, Shen Xingyi is a complete nutjob. I don't know if I can keep…
I actually really like Shen Xingyi because I know that he's up for some serious character development and growing up. I have a feeling he's going have to learn to be more mature, self-less and live in a harsh world that he is not accustomed to in order to earn any respect, let alone love, from our leading lady. I'm look forward to it!

Okay, as I watching without subs, what's up with the creepy duo who keep meeting up with Shen Xingyi's…
Thanks lan_lan! I've been watching without subtitles so I really appreciate the summary of what's up with the deeper plot. Despite lack of subtitles, I really like this drama so far. Just based on the trailers and MV - not to mention the ost - I have a feeling this one could be an emotional one but I think I'll be watching thru despite any tears.

Title The King's Woman Spoiler
So, this is not a spoiler because it's my own personal guess but I agree with everyone that this drama probably won't have a "happy" ending in the sense that there won't be a love pair at the end of this drama. I know "sad" endings are a trend in China right now, but more importantly Ying Zheng (played by Zhang Vin) is Qin Shi Huan Di aka the First Emperor of China. In history, Jing Ke tried to kill him but was unsuccessful and died, and Ying Zheng never had a queen. So historically speaking, Dilraba may die. Again, this is just my own personal thoughts. Who knows how the drama will end. I've decided to save myself a lot of heartache (lesson learned from Princess Agents) and just watch the drama without reading too many comments.

Well said Jamie. LOL~ yeah, it's good but I hate these concubine scheming plot lines, it's so old and redundant. I love the scenes with Ying Zheng and Gongsun Li.

I'm really loving the chemistry between Dilraba and Zhang Vin. Maybe it's because they've been in multiple dramas together (they're also in the next period piece together as leads! Although I think he is second lead and Vic Zhou is the main), but it's up there with our Yuwen Yue and Xing'er couple! Zhang Vin' character Ying Zheng's way of "wooing" Gongsun Li is borderline abusive but each scene is sizzling that's for sure. The way he looks at her, and the intensity in his gazes can definitely set that screen on fire!

Is it just me shipping GSL with YZ too much, or does GSL & LK lack chemistry? I know its only ep 4 but I don't…
I feel like GSL and YZ have amazing chemistry. Maybe because they've been in a number of dramas together? Just from the trailer alone their chemistry sizzles.

Hello Princess Agents friends~ if you're ready to move on (as best you can), anyone want to join me in watching…
Haha~ I hear you! I feel the same actually. Every time I see PA clips or videos pop up on YouTube as suggested videos I can't help myself and I just blurt out, "Gad dang it! F*@* you Yan Xun!" "Ugh... the pain..." Then I whimper and say, "Oh Yuwen Yue... Xing'er... I just can't..." Yeah, every time. When will it stop??? I don't know. Either when my broken heart is healed, or when they announce PA2 with the ORIGINAL cast! *sigh*
