i don’t know much about dance but i feel like people are being a little unfair about machida’s dancing in this. like he’s supposed to be stiff with the latin dance part but he danced/acted as someone who’s a stiff character but still a good dancer who can pick it up quickly? that was my impression at least.

i also think he was extremely captivating in as a ballroom dancer… usually when i see partners do ballroom dance, my eyes are locked in on the female partner. but for him, he owned the stage as the ballroom guy.

seeing the ancient versions of group therapy and girl groups/pop stars has been pretty amusing lol

i find the visuals and cinematography to be better in this than season 3

he was super cute in the polo match though ❤️ he won me over again at the end there

a little over 1/3 of the way through (put it on hold for a while bc i had other dramas to catch up with) and i find it interesting how i was always on the emperor’s side in the past seasons but find him infuriating this season. maybe it’s because the people around him are so sniveling, scheming and annoying lol

i think people have no idea what outdated means and don’t really have an eye for cinematography. they say this whenever there’s dramas with actual outdoor scenery rather than cgi. most high production cinema is not going to cover every single thing with green screen, cgi and filters.

from what i see in the comments people are calling it a mature drama in response to those looking for idol romance coupling not that people who dislike it are immature. the ones being called haters are the people who are spam rating it as 1/10 in episodes that aren’t aired yet. no need to get offended by words that aren’t there.

words can’t describe how happy i am to see this drama exist. this type of drama is what brought me into cdrama land in the first place.

this drama has like 9.7 rating on douban and still the highest rated drama of all time for almost 20 years now.

just because you can’t keep up doesn’t mean it’s poorly written. if you are struggling with remembering characters there’s many character guides you can look up to help you along.

I normally dislike Gary Stu characters as well but I think for Tang Lici he's more of an OP character who is full of himself. Gary Stu means the character does no wrong, and if he does wrong the narrative won't punish him for it. Tang Lici has a lot of flaws and many characters dislike him for it (though that part is not portrayed quite as well). He also pays heavily for his flaws towards the end of the drama.

I think with the exception of movies, CGI for the ocean and stuff still aren't quite up to par. Probably costs a lot of money to make realistic water and landscapes.

Edit: oh wait you're talking about when they're flying around and stuff. Yeah that part looked a little off honestly.

Less people watching and rating dramas so it's harder to understand ratings. Like is this a 7.6 on MDL scale as in it's hot garbage or is is a 7.6 on normal viewers rating scale as in it's a decent watch but nothing special?
