Totally agreed. The ML lost his family at a young age, and though his masters and senior brother care for him, having someone like the FL close to him would actually benefit him emotionally. Buy like you said, he is going to push her away. Though it is sad, but he still doesn’t know her true identity. The leads getting together after knowing each other’s reality would be a more fitting course of action.

That’s another explanation worth considering! Even I feel XAT knew about him when she met him for the first time.

I’d actually like to believe that. She covertly working with him without him knowing, that’s a good angle to explore!

I am enjoying the drama, and as much as I love seeing new episodes everyday, I’m loving coming here to read the discussion and see what all theories are being suggested and how fellow viewers are finding new episodes. The only drama for which I have so actively sought discussions has been Game of Thrones! NIF and JOL I binged long after they were telecast so the discussions seemed more like spoilers. I love this community of drama lovers! I was disappointed to see Zang Hai not responding to Antu’s feelings, she has made it clear that she is fond of him, he kept giving her and us mixed signals, but now it is clear that he likes her too but doesn’t want to distract himself from his goal in life. I somehow feel she’d have helped him immensely in seeking revenge had he confided in her, because his enemies are probably hers too. But then the story would become less complicated. However much the romantic in me wanted to see our leads get into a romantic relationship, it probably is for the best as of now that they keep their emotions under wraps and continue their own journeys, helping each other as needed. I wish we could get more episodes daily, two seem so less, and they get over so quickly!

I somehow feel each meeting of them starts with business but ends up looking like a date :) I love their interactions a lot! Zhang Jingyi’s character appears to be more street smart and she somehow turns each conversation into a financial transaction, but Inguess she just wants to spend more time with him :)

I agree! I’ve always felt that Xiao Zhan hasn’t been paired with FLs of equal calibre, both visually and acting wise, but Zhang Jingyi is perfectly suited to be the FL opposite him. She is beautiful, and not just a pretty face, her acting is great and their chemistry is spot on! I’m enjoying their flirting a lot, and I’m glad the FL is gutsy enough to take the lead in romance here :)

Even I thought it is a mix of NIF and JOL! ALthough I am finding this one slower paced than these two. I am a fan of Xiao Zhan and Zhang Jingyi so I dont mind the slow pace so far, and I love the cinematography!

I’m going in with zero expectations, hope I get to the end without dropping it. I love a good romance, but the story has to be more than just that to keep my attention. Thank you for the revert :)

Just started this drama seeing the high ratings. I was hesitant to start this since I had difficulties liking the FL, but I am going into it with a positive mind. Are there any love triangles here? Concubines to rival the main wife?

I hear you!! I’ve been praying for some sweet romance between the leads too, however short it is, considering the theme of the entire story is revenge and retribution.

Since both Zhang Jingyi and Xiao Zhan are amazing actors, I am hoping to see good chemistry this time. I feel both these actors choose their scripts carefully, and work hard on their characters.

I’ve loved Xiao Zhan in the Untamed, but unfortunately he hasn’t got great female leads paired with him so far. When I saw Lighter & Princess, I said it while discussing with a friend that I wonder how Zhang Jingyi would look opposite Tan JianCi and Xiao Zhan. Lo and behold, we got to see her cast opposite both! The movie Zhang Jingyi did with Tan Jianci is unfortunately not available in my region, I wish I could see it somehow. But I’m so excited to see her opp Xiao Zhan when the drama airs tomorrow.

I am so happy to see Xiao Zhan and Zhang Jingyi paired together, they are two of my favourites and watching them together seems like a great treat. That said, since the story revolves around the character of Xiao Zhan, I’m afraid our FL might not get enough screen time! Hope and pray I’m proven wrong! Wishing the best to the entire cast of the drama!

I am on episode 20, and so far Yinluo seems to be developing feeling for Fuca Fuheng. But I learnt from discussions here that she will end up becoming a noble lady in the emperor’s harem. The empress likes and favours her so much, wouldn’t she feel betrayed when that happens? I know I’d find out in good time, but my curiosity is getting the better of me.

I guess its understandable. There are many actors I cannot tolerate either. Some are super good looking but horrible in acting, while some are not so handsome but great in acting!

I’m counting on it too :)
