I dont know why they went with a silver hair look for Lee Je Hoon for this, but damn does he look good carrying it! That said, he does seem to stand out, but he would have, even if he went with his Taxi Driver look. Though this series lacks the thrill of Signal and Taxi Driver, I am still enjoying it. Almost finished with it, looking for more shows of Lee Je Hoon. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Well he doesn’t seem to like the second concubine from what I’ve seen so far. Also, it is sad that Mu Dan couldn’t be married to him as a wife and had to accept becoming a concubine. I hope in the next season he is able to make her his wife and do away with the concubine as soon as he finishes exposing Prince Ning. I do hope the emperor can have his love reciprocated as well.

I totally get that. The mindset of most women in that era was like Sheng Yi, while very few were as enterprising as Mu Dan. Now that I have completed the series, I can only feel sorry for her, it would have been a different ending for her had she trusted the woman who stood by her at her lowest, than her abusive husband.
That said, I was disappointed to see absolutely no romance between the leads right up to the last episode. The ML has clearly fallen for her, but doesn’t want to bind her to a relationship, but the feelings of the FL are still those of comfort with a friend.

Wow!!! what a star studded drama!! cannot wait to watch it, but I’ll wait for at least half of the series to air.

I’m on episode 16, and I somehow cannot bring myself to like Sheng Yi. Mu Dan has been nothing but nice to her, but she seems to neither trust nor support her. The other martial arts girl is far better, though she’s known her for lesser time. Anyone here shares my feeling?

Not at all! Knowing he would get a concubine later would make me less angry when I reach that episode. I’ve always hated the idea of polygamy, thankfully it no longer exists in most parts of the world, but it still hurts to see it in dramas!

That’s too bad! Poor thing our FL suffered one failed marriage and would have to put up with concubines too! I’m still on episode 14, a long way to go to 32!

Same here, for some reason I have avoided watching this, and now that I am, I’m so happy I didn’t remove it from my watchlist. I didn’t like YangZi in Go Go Squid, but she excels in period dramas and xianxia’s a lot. I’m done with 14 episodes and I hope the drama will maintain its pace and interest.

Exactly!! He pretended to be asleep because he didn’t want things getting awkward between them. You and I think alike, but I want to be proven wrong in the series eventually :)

I feel the same! I wanted to think he had feelings for her, but after episode 5, I don’t think he does. Because if he did, there couldn’t have been a reason for him to not reciprocate. I feel so sad for Yi Young!

I don’t think the age gap is too big. He is a fourth year resident and she is repeating her first year after a gap of three years. Sonthey should be more than a couple years apart I guess.

In India, this is not an uncommon arrangement. Two sisters getting married to two brothers is considered lucky even. I heave myself seen this arrangement in many families, and there are less feuds too. It’s sad though that he didn’t reciprocate Yi Young’s feelings! I feel bad for her.

This series has no real plot, some ultra cliché tropes, bad acting by the main villian and support actors, but I’m still watching it! I don’t think this drama was made to be either a thriller or a romance, it seems like a parody of sorts with some action thrown in. The NIS agents, barring the ML, are all super incompetent. I am only watching for the ML, he is really good, but there is only so much a good actor can do when the script is so bad.

one question….does she ever go back to the modern times?

I’m on episode 49 now. It is now known that he was by her side even when she was the God of war. looking forward to seeing who he truly was.

I’m on episode 41. So Xuanji is both the God of war general and the Devil Star. Then what about Sifeng? Does he have another identity apart from being the phoenix flower bird demon?

I still cannot bring myself to give it a go. Maybe someday in the future!

Thanknyou so much for the honest review. I would rather avoid watching this. I’ve never liked this female lead, and the ML I loved him in Twinkling watermelon, but wouldn’t want to see him as the lead actor, he can be the second lead at best.
