I watched when it aired, now I watched again so I can easily say there is rewatch value.
I thought he was a high schooler at first and maybe he was close 18 but actually he was 15 in the drama. (In reality he was 19.) So being a middle schooler was not okay. I think it was on purpose. They wanted to show impossible and forbidden love in every possible way.
The thing that bothers me is female lead's actions. Her intentions and feelings are so confused. I wanted to empathize but I couldn't. Even her fiance was at fault many times turned a blind eye. Also male lead's mother was exaggerating things when he was in high school after 3 years at 18.
Anyway it's worth watch even though there are many problematic themes are going on. We couldn't see a happy time until the last 5 minute of the finale episode...
I like so much the first half of the movie. She was bullied and he decided to be a hero for her. It reached to my heart. They even tried to overcome her father's violance. But after the thing happenned with her father they acted like nothing happenned. I don't like when they started over like they lost their memories...
Ending satisfied me even though he died. Because he died as a hero and his son was proud of him.
Probably the best work of Takagawa Taishi. He acted so many works but none of them impressed me until this one. His acting is not bad it's about scenario and characters he chose to act. I like Anna Ishii's acting here so much.
This story was hard to tell because he couldn't see, she couldn't hear & speak. I can't completely say it was bad either. But I found some issues with their love story...
When did they fall in love? I mean, just because someone taking care of you without saying a word, would you fall in love? Or would you call police or someone to check? Isn't it super weird? There was a lack of character improvement/explanation of female lead and certainly lack of communication but it was not because of their handicaps. It'd be good if only this would be a drama with more clarification.
On the other hand they portraited Daisuke, the guy who secretly obsessed with female lead, as being insecure and obsessive kind of person but female lead was also doing the same with male lead. She was like a stalker when she found his adress...
Hence I don't find any of these relationships healthy... Not so worth watch since there is lack of deepness of the story and characters unless you're fan of any other actors.
Angst? Without any logical reason Ryota passed away (Did I missed some important information about his health other than him being fragile?) We watched Saito was struggling about 40 minutes of movie after Ryota's death. Ending didn't satisfy... I mean was there any secret meaning behind all of this sad story? Some bed scenes were too explicit. (At least for me.) The other thing that camera's focus was always their nape. Isn't it weird? Also I'd like to watch scenes from a little far. It was too close up, sometimes I couldn't even see other person's reaction. Lead's acting was spectacular. 👏 I always thought that Suzuki Ryohei is a great actor but Miyazawa Hio didn't stay behind. Both of them were perfect.
Worth watch but prepare tissues. (In an alternative universe they're living happyly in my mind rent-free.)
Sorry to say this but story was so weird & boring. It was hard to complete even though I really love watching Mahiro. Main couple's acting didn't reach my heart. There was lack of emotion & sincerety. I never liked Haru's acting. Some fun scenes & characters couldn't able to save the show for me. Music wasn't good either. Not worth watching.
what do you mean by "exaggerated choices of actors"?/genq
Don't you think directors or producers whatever always using same actors in Japan again & again? Same people are acting in famous projects. They are not willing to work with different actors. Japan is a big country yet we see same faces every drama and movie. Casting is problem and actors take roles not for their talent but power of their companies. I'm sick and tired seeing same actors, I can count 50 actors/actresses taking all the roles and they are working non-stop like there is no others. Isn't it weird?
I know it's controversial topic but i do believe when we love people we love these people forever (and at the same time) not a period of time in our lives. (Only we chose not to meet or see them in the order to not reawakening emotions.) Also there are times we can't decide which one to choose. We know it's not right but still heart feels in that way. And rarely there is one person we can choose with no doubts but what if that person doesn't love you back? I think i will choose one person who makes me feel at ease and the person i can be my true self when we are together. In the end i'll choose one person, i guess.
Yamamoto Chihiro is desperate to become a "housewife"(househusband) however Hayami Honoka has no idea what he…
How does she not realize he is in love with her? What is the meaning of living together then? But i like the detail that she considers herself as husband. Lol.
I liked Issei, he was interesting character who is free-spirited, funny & jealous (i didn't like his job though). There were many romantic scenes between main couple but unfortunately that scenes didn't make my heart skip a beat. They didn't have chemistry. Plus, i'm really sad about Sasaki. I dislike unnecessary traumatic side stories. Everybody had their own happy ending in the last episode which i found boring. It was hard for me to complete it, i skip forward episodes many times...
Story is meh... but i like director's shooting angles & sudden change of lighting. Music is on point especially ending song got my interest. Actings are also good. But story is lacking some ground. We should've seen more character development rather than kissing scenes (since it had too many.)
I've watched Kame's Kami no Shizuku 10 years ago and i don't remember anything... Not gonna lie it was boring. What will they bring something new into the story? So i'll surely watch, it's on my birthday! Yay!
Yamapi will speak English or French or Japanese?
Japan needs more joint productions like this and more foreigner characters in their dramas.
Exaggerated choices of actors are already implying that story isn't the strong point of the production. I didn't want to watch this kind of heavy subject and i'm not impressed even though i understand the message that they tried to convey to audience. At least they didn't choose to die in the end.
When i saw poster i felt like it would be fun, dream chasing Brass Band movie but it's not... It had gloomy atmosphere and they showed making music as if it's a punishment.

By the way, why is the name of the movie Egoist?
