Never noticed Yoo Ah In til now. There are actors who simply act out what they're supposed to...then there are those who become the character they are portraying. Seems he falls into the latter. Amazed by his performance.

I actually do have a Viki sub. I like that their app also works well. Dramafever...they take a bit longer than Viki which I don't like. But they have more shows. But yea...adblock won't work for them. I tested out Hulu...but I realized that even with a subscription, you get "some ads".

hmm...I guess drama.net and gooddrama all have the same shows? I think I've seen other similar websites around.

I am itching for a crime drama like Cruel City. I'm still stuck on it. ugh...Why can't I move on? Too bad such dramas don't get good ratings.

Normally, I don't take off too many points with a disappointing ending. Maybe 1. I try to take it all into consideration how much I enjoyed the rest of the show. But with this one, I felt it destroyed any reason to watch. Because the ending makes this drama...right? Like the whole point of the show was not only saving SB but figuring out who did it and what happened. blehh lol

Actually, it has happened before with Missing You. I know it's popular on here but after starting off so awesome...the next 17 were plain awful with a few nice moments in the middle of constant crying. I know you haven't watched it yet but thought I'd give you the gist of it while not spoiling anything.

God's Gift is why I usually wait til it is finished before I start watching. I've never been so disappointed by an ending before. Mainly because like I said, I check recaps to make sure something like that doesn't happen. Like I may start something...but I often put it on hold, especially if I feel uncertain. It's just lately that I'm trying to watch them while it's airing because it sorta pushes me to watch.

I don't know what happened with the ending. Maybe the writer had an idea of how they wanted it to end...but had no idea how to execute it. Aside from the red herrings that provided suspense early on. Still doesn't explain how the conclusion felt vomited out in about a minute. And why they thought we would be okay with the bad guys getting away. I won't even get started on DC's reasoning.

It's okay! I was thinking that you were busy. I know you are already really busy with studying. But I had no idea you were also out of town. Hope you can rest the next few days. I really miss that area. I used to live in SD and LA...well for about 8 years. Really, I miss being on the west coast instead.

So far I like this. And I'm pleasantly surprised with Lee Joon too. First it was Doo Joon in Let's Eat...now him. Seems like Tae Oh may be a villain I may end up liking.

How do you rate a drama that you thought would be one of the best dramas in 2014...but crashed so miserably?
I haven't seen very many dramas and I also drop them quite frequently...so I haven't ever had the displeasure of being terribly disappointed by an ending. Now I know how it feels.

My head hurts...

What makes it even more infuriating was that while SB lived, the real offenders got away. There was no closure or answers about what happened to them. It felt like the ending got spewed out then cut off in the last 2 minutes.

Good article! My favourite villain is Mishil from Queen Seon Duk, which I've watched several years ago, but no…
Cha Do Woo was probably one of my favorite villains in a Korean drama for that reason. Maybe I'll catch some of the others.
I say yes to better villains!

oh no... :( Hope you can get your work done and focus. But easier said than done. I think the more work there is to do...the more motivation you get to finish dramas. lol That's what happens to me. When I have free time, I don't want to watch anything. It's only when I know I should be doing something else.

yea...the main female in Let's Eat was someone I could actually like. And that's really rare for me. I do not like females that are too needy. Or ones that are oblivious and naive.
And it was a show I could watch to relax and laugh. I also liked what they said at the end with the poem.

Maybe I should subscribe to Dramafever for a month and just marathon all of the ones not on Viki. But their app sucks. :(

Good luck with your school! You can do it!

Our Happy Time and Miracle in Cell No. 7 are both about the death penalty but with touching stories. I think I liked the former more, even though it was much more simple. It just felt like that one had more meaning to it once it was over. Miracle in Cell No. 7 just had a lot of melodramatic moments...which...I can do without sometimes. But both were enjoyable.

Memories of Murder is pretty popular. It's a murder mystery...but it was done well. And Confessions of Murder. Both are more for entertainment than worth.

TaeGukGi is the most popular war movie.

As for gangster films...I think it's a particular taste as they will be pretty tragic.

As for violent films. I'm still not sure if you'd like them but I'll list them anyway. lol

The most popular Korean films are what's called the Vengeance trilogy. They're not tied together but they all deal with the same theme. Oldboy is the most familiar out of them. It was recently remade here in the US. Sympathy for Lady Vengeance...I think some ppl like more. But that one is extremely violent. And Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance...I don't remember. Park Chan Wook is probably the most famous of Korean directors because of these. As for his less gory movies...
I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK is kinda quirky. I saw it years ago though. I just remember it being unique.
Join Security Area is about the North and South. But not in the usual way of war. This one is actually quite touching.

ahhh Okay.
The top picture is from Duelist, but that one is for a very particular taste so it's not one I would recommend to everyone. Because the story is very simple. Some may question if there really is a story. I liked it because of the visuals...which...it was very beautifully shot. That's something everyone can agree on. I actually want it on blu-ray because of the visuals.
But particularly for me, I like being able to use my own imagination to elaborate upon what's going on. Paying attention to details like how they move. I would compare it more with a production on stage with dance and music rather than a romance or action film.

3-Iron is silent most of the film but I think its silence is what made the film great. That particular director's films usually have some kind of great meaning to them. While the Duelist's director is good with using visual tricks.

I think I would've enjoyed You're Beautiful if I had seen it earlier on. I can see that it's a nice show. It's just that I can't get myself to stop being critical.
As for Boys over Flowers, I was so ticked off at how mean he was at the start that I didn't care if he changed. Cause then I start questioning what brought on that change, and I don't like superficial reasons.
lol Because of its popularity, I made multiple attempts to watch it...starting from the start. Never got past whatever episode I dropped it at.

I did drop You're Beautiful at one point but put it back on hold. I figure one day, I'll get back through it.

yea...I don't blame her for lying. I think it just makes her human to have fears...which also makes her someone you can relate to. But what makes her awesome is her inner strength and selflessness.

As for where I dl it from. I have an Android tablet and I use the Gooddrama app...which you get through their website (app is called Dramania). It's not in my Playstore. Not sure if you have a iPad instead. The recent update makes you watch an ad every time you dl or watch one. Anyways, since it's through that site, you have to dl each of the parts.

If I want to watch in nice quality on the computer and it's not available on Viki...then I go the torrent route. :< Since you're asking for your favorites, I'm assuming this is the way to go cause the other one is just desperation.

Oh yea...I watched Let's Eat. One of my friends who doesn't watch kdramas said she was watching it so I thought I'd give it a try. It made me really hungry. But I also liked how it gave attention to the side characters. And I agree...Yoon Doo Joon did a great job. I was surprised.

Let me know what you think about "As One". I might start watching movies instead. I like that I can watch them and get them out of the way in 2 hours. Probably what I need to start watching dramas again. :(

Korean action movies tend to not hold back when it comes to gore. But if you're okay with that, it's the genre they excel at. Particularly gangster movies. I'm actually not sure which of those to recommend cause I know that a lot of ppl are not okay with violence. Not that they're all like that. But some more than others.

My favorite romance ones are...
A Moment to Remember (very sad though).
My Sassy Girl is always a classic...although a few may not like it.
Daisy is a good one also with Jun Ji Hyun. But not your traditional romance story.
I have not seen The Classic...but everyone seems to like that one.
I do like romance...but at the same time, not as much as other genres.
3-Iron is my favorite, but it's a tough recommendation because it falls more under artsy with there being very little dialogue. But I found that one more moving than the other romance films.

For Korean movies, I rely on people who have blogs dedicated to Korean movies. I've watched most of the ones that are popular with movies fans. And I usually go for specific directors. Or the very top actors (like Choi Min Sik). Or again, ones that are popular with international movie fans (and don't care who is in it).

Well Secretly, Greatly is only rated high because of Soo Hyun. Sad, but true. lol
I'm not really sure what your tastes are. And do you like artsy films? How much gore are you okay with?

The Man from Nowhere is probably a really safe choice. It's not unique in story...but it's a pretty straightforward watch. Even though the story is not same at all, Cruel City reminded me of it. Mainly because both guys are awesome...and the fight scenes.

With God's Gift...I wasn't sure if I was confused because I wasn't paying enough attention. I wanted it to be a show where clues were given throughout the episodes...which would lead up to some big reveal at the end. Basically, cleverly planned out that way. At this point, it does somewhat feel like some of the clues were not planned out and just thrown in. And other clues were forgotten. But I guess we'll see. Last week!

I actually really liked Two Weeks too. Until the part where the hospital department was put to sleep and the girl kidnapped. I can stretch my imagination a bit for kdramas. But not that much. And I really like Lee Jun Ki and the title track. :(
