This is a really good show: the plot, the pace, the characters, the acting, the chemistry, the Love/Hate, the angst....and ... most especially Non's Deep Unwavering Love for Pin and his noble, patient and manly character... as well played by Thanwa!.. A good crier, and he cries a lot in this show, poor guy.
Also, for once in a revenge drama.. the revenge is carried out completely!
Very good story ... good consistent writing ..... not much filler (a lakorns plus) ... No Unnecessary Craziness…
LOL..Yes!.. I skimmed through it, I didn't much like it... maybe I needed the dialogue ... But at least it had more continuity than the Weir version (although I like RLSL) ... That happens often w/ newer lakorns, where they try to clean up the characters but end up loosing rationality in the plot.
I wanted to love this but I felt like most of the characters were irrational in a bad way. I wish there had been…
I agree... writers did not do a good job explaining why she would fall for him ... he was a complete idiot, I couldn't see any reason for her to like him.... Even though the plot had lots of potential, I didn't believe in their love, so that made me give it a low rating.
The first part had hopes, this, the second part, disappoints... especially the development of the characters... change was too abrupt, and since not well-developed in the first place, and plot deviated from original, it was irrational at times.
The acting was worse than part 1, but Sakrat and Yayaying (father and BoonLueang) are real good.
I like the father's cruelty and debauchery more here, and the actor is better (but that was part 1) ... but the changed background and end for him was not good, or rational (in Part 2).
I didn't like the changes made to Jan Dara or BoonLuaeng here ... making them nicer or less evil weakens the strength of the characters.
The 2001 version was much better, more intense and more rational ... The characters were also darker, more interesting, and their development made sense.
This version is less powerful than 2001 version. Although dragged out into two films, it did not add any interesting info and in fact, it explored the characters a lot less than 2001 version. Part 1 left high hopes by a good introduction to the characters, but part 2 was a let down, where characters and plot were changed so their development was abrupt and did not make sense in some cases. Also, the acting in general was underwhelming.
The only thing I liked better in this version is the cruelty and debauchery of the father, Lord Wissanan, was more intense and actor Sakrat Ruekthamrong did a great job showing it ... both the beginning of this character and the actor were better in thisversion, but the development of this character disapoints in part 2, the 2001 version had better development for the father. Yes! I liked that the cruelty and debauchery was more intense... it makes the effect on Jan Dara more powerful.
Warning: This film has graphic nudity, sex and violence.
The story may be disturbing to some, but it was very well told, well written and in general, well acted, so the end result is powerful. It is well put-together, good story telling.
I like how certain details were left out and then told at the right time ... good director!
It is an interesting look about how the psyche of Jan Dara was formed, yet despite the disturbing circumstances shaping him, he still had an introspective view point ... whether normal or skewed, he was still able to analyze and understand himself and his motivations (especially his confused desire for a mother); unlike those around him, who seem to only have been driven by instinct.
I think it is more powerful than the 2012 version because it is more dense and the characters make sense. It also has better acting, especially Jan (Ek), Boonlueang (Christy) and Kaew (May)...also the little boy who played 5 yr. old Jan was remarkable.
4 couples, each a different love story w/ different dynamics, lots of hot men and women... This a joy to watch.
This was a really good story.... Good job giving equal time to all 4 couples and still telling the history of the heroic battle of Bang Rajan.... The pace was good, although I think the fight scenes were too long, and not always exciting to watch. But, some of the Muay Thai fighting was real good ...Despite being low budget, w/ weak special effects, the costumes were good and the story well told.
Memorable characters ... Sang and Juang are the most entertaining couple, full of feistiness, bickering and fun antics .... Jai and Sabai also have a very good emotional love story, with lots of angst and conflicting emotions .... these two couples had the best chemistry.
I had a hard time w/ Khap and Feung at first ... but the development and end were good and believable .... and Khap was so deeply in love.!
I did not like Thap and Fang, although they were a very good match w/ personalities .... The development of Thap was not consistent ....and the actress did not help :P
In general all the acting was good w/ few exceptions ... Panjan as Sang was very very good, especially as the hot-headed jerk, yet still lovable. Art as Jai was also very good and very hot...
Among the 4 ladies, Noon (Sapai) was the only real good actress .... Prang (Feung) was also good ... Beau (Juang) sometimes was over the top, but not bad .... Wawa (Fang), on the other hand, was very bad. Her crying was the worst, even a toddler could fake it better .... She is the main reason Thap/Fang couple were not believable.
Sang is the most fun but Jai is the most interesting... Other people were drooling over Khap's sweetness and Thap as the perfect hero.
I watched Raw, but YT has clips w/ Eng subs for most scenes of the couples .... I also read forums where many other scenes were explained .... I only wish there was more of Jai scenes explained, b/c I really wanted to know more about his internal conflict.
I gave an extra 0.5 pnt for Wado Soko's long hair and goatee , too gorgeous ;) .... another extra 0.5 pnt…
I liked watching the couple and the cultural aspects ... so, yes...but only if you don't mind the negatives like a contrived plot that by the end had some Korean makjang.
This drama was releasedin 2010, wow its been 7 years? i hope it is better or equivalent worth to watch as Battle…
YES! and Yes! ..... It's an intense love story...
Battle of Changsha is a Family/war drama w/ many lead characters.... romance is minimal .... But excellent writing, directing, production.
Too Late to Say I Love You ...is a Romance first ... a love story w/ war as the background.... writing, action, cinematography are not as good as BoC.
But, TLTSILY is a wonderful Passionate Romance w/ realistic love development and loads and loads of kisses and skinship. --> Do NOT expect a sweet idealized romance, this is realistic love..
He is not a perfect male lead, he has other responsibilities towards his people, as a young Warlord, surrounded by people who want to overthrow him.... He cannot be selfish about his love, it has to come second to more important responsibilities. He has to be ruthless and ambitious for him and his people to survive.
and YES!... they end up together ... after many obstacles to overcome. HEA!
I am a bit obsessed w/ this story, especially the 1998 version... These are the only vids I could find....
I found a playlist, but vids blocked by GMM :(( ... yet the new version is everywhere! smh.. o.O
I DL subs for first 6 episodes and watched the rest raw, it was that interesting!
( I also read a few forums/blogs to get the gist of what I missed in subs.)
Not typical lakorn, more like a makjang K-drama melodrama .... In general, very good, w/ a glaring absence of many cliches/tropes of typical formula revenge lakorns, probably b/c it's based on a novel.... it was fun and unpredictable.
The pace swings between very good, to periods where the plot needed to unfold faster, especially for the younger generation towards the end.... I found the parents' part much more interesting w/ all the intertwining stories and loves.
Plenty of characters to love and hate.... Ying and Oon are so much fun to watch, especially when together... Im was dull, but Yod made up for it w/ his deep passionate and unwavering love.
I am impressed by Pim Pimmada, she made Oon so likable ... Also, Captain has a charm, and knows how to show a man passionately in love!
There are several negatives, besides the sometimes slow pace, namely a couple of times when a character made a 180 degree turn in personality due to weak writing, however, the change could've been believable if a transition or motivation was shown.... so I imagined the transition and enjoyed the rest.
In general the story of the parents' generation is well told (Ep 1- 33) ... The kids' story is less interesting (Ep 33- 52)
Also, for once in a revenge drama.. the revenge is carried out completely!
